Now on a slightly more positive note... First of all I'm a complete nobody, I Havnt contributed anything to any xbox projects at all, although for the last 2 years this is probably one of the only websites I really go on and that's on a daily basis, I'd class myself as an "xbox mod consumer" so I'm speaking for all the little people that just enjoy tinkering with the old box and having a play round with all the great stuff you guys make for us.

Now although their seems to be 7-8 people that only seem to speak on these forums regularly there are thousands of active xbox modders out there! Just look at all the downloads for surreal b5.5, xboxisozone has had tonnes of hits for that, over 1000! So the moral of me rambling on here is that we all really appreciate what you guys do, although u might feel like u guys are on your own a bit, myself and I'm Sure hundreds of others are catching up on all the stuff you guys are working on.

Where the xtras are concerned although it may only be "screenshots" and "videos" you have changed the face of emulation, not only on the box, but on emulation on all systems. Let's take snes for example, when I was a kid I had about 8 games, if that, so when I come to use the emu I can play those 8 games and maybe the select handful of top titles that everyone knows.

but that Means 700 + other games go to waste, as you just see name after name of unknown games and never play the majority of them. Now because of you guys when Im getting a bit of retro gaming in, I spend a couple of hours just checking out the preview videos and seeing which game looks cool for me to have a go of, so you guys have opened up a library of hundreds of games for people to enjoy, as I say not just on xbox, but on any emu multi platform!

Also I do agree with the name change to emu xtras. it opens up the xtras and the idea of xtras to Everyone multi platform, and the content is in the name, emulator extas... tongue.gif so you know what your getting. and you are appreciated resx,  as me and I'm sure hundreds of other people know, you started to get some order into preview vids, and a name is just a name.

And thanks to the guys who carry it on as people like me ( useless talentless people wink.gif ) really appreciate your creativeness. Also the website is great, always checking to see if there are any new releases for me to have a play with. (Still waiting on a pcsxbox update tho  unsure.gif ) tongue.gif without you guys my boring life would be even more boring tongue.gif

Sorry to go on a bit :s but just want to say a big thank you to everyone who contributes to everything xbox1 related, I and I'm sure hundreds of others appreciate everything you do. Keep up the good work guys smile.gif

P.s. Sorry im talentless

Couldn't have written it any better than that.
+1
The work you guys do is wholeheartedly appreciated.  wub.gif

QUOTE
Hey everyone,

Things in the real world have been looking up in the last week. smile.gif

I'm cautiously optimistic now, which is to say, I'm trying desperately to be one of those glass-is-half-full guys rather than the other. Until the deed is in my hand, I won't be celebrating, but without trying to jinx myself, I just might finally have that house I've been hunting for over seven months now.

My God... I hope it happens. To be able to work a job because I WANT to instead of because I HAVE to will be such a liberating experience. What a fucking dream come true. It will feel so good knowing that I could work 25 hours a week pushing carts at Costco to pay "the rent" and still put money in the bank if I ever feel the need to tell a boss at a real job to stick it up his ass. Anyone who knows me well here realizes that this is a very distinct possibility.

Even though it's far from the scope of this website, I think I may start a blog here about tips on how to make your money work for you instead of the other way around. You all are already halfway there, I figure, since you're housing thousands of roms and other goodies that come with them now that we've all payed billions of dollars for collectively through retail purchases and arcade quarter stuffing. How many assholes with too much money are paying Nintendo AGAIN for Super Mario Bros. 3 on the WII in the time it takes me to type this message?

I'm not very astute at getting myself into positions of making money, but when I do I make sure to bury it instead of squandering it on bullshit. I wasn't that way when I was 20, but living in the basement of a relative's house with the 2 cat's that piss all over the place after living high on the hog for 2 years will open your eyes pretty damn quick.

It all came with experience...... And boy am I glad I learned my lessons and made right with it before the sky fell. I'm buying the type of house that I was telling my friends not to buy at the peak of the market for less than half of the price of the "good 'ol days".

All of my real life friends are underwater on their mortgages today. I'm just happy that most of them are union workers so that kinda cancels the drama out of it if they can resist buying all of the toys and bullshit they don't need. They might need to send their kids to public school instead of Catholic school though.... bummer.....

Anyways...... I just met my niece today (my step-sister's kid). With all the family drama we've had, I've never met her until now. She's 3 years old and she's the only proof I've ever seen that there truly is real innocent good in this world. Anyone who didn't fall in love with her after a minute of talking with her I'd accuse of being inhuman. I called my (real) brother tonight and told him that he'd better have a kid with my new sister in law immediately because I want to be the cool uncle that spoils the kids but doesn't have to clean up the diapers. smile.gif

You guys know how I can change my mind and tune at the drop of a hat, but right now, I'm so happy about things you could call the RessurectionXTras the BullShitFuckAll and I wouldn't care a single bit. Today it just seems like so much more important things are showing themselves to me and I wonder why I could ever let myself be bothered so much by something so insignificant.

It's not to say that the project itself is nothing... far from it. It's just judging myself. How could I let something so ultimately trivial in life consume me with such rage?

Maybe Likklebear has a point?

.......

No.... probably not.

Much love,
~RX

Cool Rx, Thanks

and hey...   I have been quite the "thank-you'er" myself.....

In fact...

there should be a line for me in Rx's "thank you's " list,   thanking me for all the thank you's I gave over the course of the   project!

No need to thank me for the thanks MM?

I know I've lost sight at times about what the project really meant to me while I was actually working on it.  Especially in the early days when it was fun and not a full time unpaid job.

After Horscht left when we completed the SNES main romset Xtras, I thought I'd never find somebody who would work on all those videos while I was doing other stuff, but you came along and your work helped me in a great way and made me want to keep working myself on the other stuff.

Thanks so much to you and all the others who helped out along the way.  Sorry I made it sound like it was a one man show whenever I'd get on my soap box about stuff.

Quote of the day:

"Sometimes I reflect on all the beer I drink and I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. So I think, 'It is better to drink this beer and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver.'"
-- Babe Ruth

I feel the same about all of the poor country souls who make our Crystal Meth for us.  But then again, if we were all to light up that pipe to support their careers, it wouldn't be long before all of the factory workers at Aquafresh were laid off when we all lost their teeth and had no need for toothpaste.

Got a house and been in it for a week now. smile.gif

Tons of stuff to do to make it livable, but it's a great house and the neighbors are awesome.  Just have some mold that need evicting and a few other issues to take care of. smile.gif

That's cool though... I'll be able to REALLY know my house and make it exactly what I want it to be.

I can't wait to have some of my friends here come over some day and shoot some pool and play on the MAME cabinet that I hope to make in the next year or so.

I'd love to get back into the project some day as well, but that will probably be a long way down the road.

Hope everything is going well for all of you.

Later,

Ugggg...... the mold issue is MUCH worse in the basement than I thought.  The good news is that I don't think it reached the 1st or 2nd floor anywhere.  I've duct taped polysheeting to cordon off the basement and there is no smell upstairs at all now.  I've already removed 16 huge Hefty contractor bags of destroyed drywall and insulation.  It didn't look bad on the surface, but behind the scenes the insulation was still wet for the first 6" to 8" and the black crap is growing 3 to 4 feet up the insides of the walls.   In the end, I think I will need about 40 bags to haul it all out.

There's even some parts where it got really creative and it looks like a hippie painting.  I had a 4x4 foot spot that had black mold, white mold, blue mold, orange mold, and pink mold.  Kinda looked like a tiedye shirt. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

No electric to the garage yet, and the house came with its very own crop circle (about a ton of rocks and a plastic border full of weeds where a pool once resided.  It will probably take me about 30 hours just removing those stones.

On the plus side, there are 3/4" hardwood floors throughout the 2nd floor under the carpet along with the hardwood I already knew about in the huge living room.  A neighbor is positive I have a shutoff valve to the sewer system so if the rain gets bad I should be able to keep water from coming in the basement again as long as I'm home.  I have yet to find it though.  There was also a 25 dollar big ass spatula for grilling tucked away deep in one of the cabinets, so I celebrate the victories as they come, no matter how small.

Don't know what brand lawnmowers you guys have, but sell them right away and get yourself a rear wheel drive, self-propelled Troy-Bilt mulcher.  Until I mowed the lawn the other day I never realized that I've never used a good lawnmower my entire life.  The lawn is HUGE and the grass had gotten a little high with all the work I've been doing inside.  After mowing it, you couldn't even tell I wasn't using a bag to haul away the clippings.  It's amazing.  The damn thing is so easy to maneuver in circles you could dance with it too.  It took me half the time to mow the lawn than I thought it would.  This lawn would certainly justify a rider mower, but with a mower this good there's no reason to shell out 1500 for a rider.

Have you ever taken a cold shower?  Nothing makes you feel more alive, but it's freaking horrible.  The hot water heater which is only from 2006 doesn't work because it was standing in 2 feet of water at one point.  I'll be getting a new one in next week after I get the mold out, but until then, it's misery to be working in 90 degree heat in a Tyvek suit and PVC gloves and a resperator and goggles and have to take a cold shower when it's done.

TONS of work to do to make this house a home, but I have some time before I need to find a paying job so I've got a few months to make it happen.  That's why I got a bigger house than my brother and his wife did for about 1/3 the price.  In the end, the 20k or so I will have to put into it to fix it up will still make it way less than half of what they paid.

I'll be posting this stuff in my blog on the other site as soon as I get my other computer fired up with the password locked in.  I have no clue what it is and can't log in yet.

Seems I finally got a project to suit my OCD that will actually pay for itself in the end.  I'm just so excited about all of the work ahead of me and I feel like I really have a purpose now.

Hope everything is going well for all of you too,
~Rx

P.S.  I thought I'd share the hippie artwork with you.  Nothing much more to say about it.  As they say, a picture says a thousand words.........   (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

Well good luck with the mold.  I know my sister was looking at a home of some close friends of our parents that had some mold issues and I heard that mold can mean bad things and ALOT of work.   (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

Thanks guys.....

Don't think it will be a problem.  Got most of it out now (24 Hefty contractor bags of moldy drywall and soaked insulation).  Now it pretty much just smells like the 6 gallons of bleach that has been sprayed everywhere.

I will spot check behind walls upstairs when I'm ready to start doing remodeling, but I don't think anything reached above the basement level.  The only spot I'm a little concerned about is anything above the first 4 feet of the Laundry Room which becomes the back of the 1st level basement Living Room.  I'm saving that part for last because I don't want to open it up when there is other mold to remove.  All signs point to it not being a problem though (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I've been wearing a FEMA approved mask with removable cartridges and heavy duty PVC gloves (which unfortunately give me a sweat rash as a side effect, but I don't feel sick at all and I've been at this every other day for the last 12 days.  Hoping to have it all out and have a new hot water heater installed by Sunday.  I haven't had anything but a cold shower for about 2 weeks that I haven't had to drive a half hour for since I've been here.

I'm glad to have it all out though.  Though the electrical stuff is wired safe and grounded properly, it was half romex and greenfield in the basement.  A couple of DIY hacks put this crap together and it's crap.  I'm going to redo all of the electric before I seal it back up with the most anti mold resistant substances I can find.

Man..... I can't wait to have hot water and to finally have some furniture here and stop living out of suitcases.  I just didn't want to have any items that would house close or be my permanent sleeping arrangement until all the mold downstairs was gone.  I'm so beyond fed up with cold showers and sleeping on a leaky Coleman air mattress that I have to wake up every 4 hours and refill.

Later,
~Rx

Hey,

Got just about all the mold out of the basement now except for a section that I don't want to remove until I scour everything I'm not removing everywhere else.  The top part of the wall I've left is actually the back wall to the 1st floor living room, so even though I'm sure the mold hasn't gone that high at this point, I don't want to be spreading it around there from elsewhere by tearing it down prematurely.  I've already started scrubbing down the studs and things I won't remove with bleach, and this week I will also be scrubbing them down with hydrogen peroxide and vinegar since they kill different kinds of mold that bleach might not kill.

Tons of other work being done in the mean time.  Most of the plumbing works now without any leaks in both bathrooms the kitchen.  (I love doing rehab work, especially on my own house.... but I HATE plumbing!!!!)

If all goes well tomorrow I should have electric out to the garage and be able to use my garage door opener and finally have light in my VERY dark backyard.  I'll probably be putting some less obtrusive lighting on timers and install a few very bright motion sensor lights.

I've also removed and cleaned about 1/5 of the rocks that surround the perimeter of the crop circle in my back yard where a pool used to reside.  I could have just filled it all in with dirt already, but I plan on digging 18" trenches around the perimeter of the house and garage and filling them in with the rocks to protect the foundations from cracking in the winter.  Right now there's only a slight crack in the huge 2 1/2 car garage and after gutting most of the basement I'm happy to see that the foundation of the house is still flawless.

Do you guys think I should wire up the basement with CAT5 or CAT6 outlets for wired network access as long as I have all of the walls exposed, or with wireless becoming so prominent would that be a waste of time/money?   I'm just thinking that if I have a Box or two downstairs and eventually a MAME cabinet I plan on building, it might be nice to have those hookups so I don't have to buy wireless hookups for them.... they can be pretty costly.  Along with the 2nd bathroom and the laundry room/slop sink downstairs, there is a decent size 3rd bedroom that I will be making a workout room and I'd like to have a Box set up there with a TV so I can listen to some jams or watch videos while working out.  There's also what's called the "Game Room" that I'd like to have a MAME cab and either a pool table or my felt top 8 person poker table and finally start hosting some killer Hold 'em tourneys again.

I just picked up an old Craftsman cast-iron Table Saw that weighs about 300 lbs.  They sure don't make them like that anymore.  Nearly broke my back moving it.  Funny thing is there's no on/off switch and it only starts when you plug it in.  I'll  have to install a switch on the wall that controls an outlet so I can just power it on that way.  Got it for a good price considering I got a Rockwell 1/4 stock router thrown in for free.  Just a few more tools like that and I'll have my very own workshop in the garage to make the arcade cab.

I also got a badass Amana Washer/Dryer "Stainless Steel Designer Series" off of some guy from Craigslist that even delivered it for me.  They're clean as hell, so here's hoping they work when I get the basement stuff taken care of.  I met the guy and his wife and kid, and they all seemed like great people.  I don't think for a second I got suckered there.

There has been some setbacks, such as the severity of the mold, but there has also been some very nice surprises, such as the perfect house foundation and the 3/4" Oak hardwood floors upstairs.  All in all, I'm very happy with my purchase, and I can't tell you how cool it is to be starting off a new month and not be dropping $850 on rent.  Taxes aren't due until the end of May, so until then it's just paying the utilities and buying all the appliances and tools I need to make this house a home.

I better get the important work done soon though and find a job or I'm going to be the next one to be foreclosed on.  smile.gif

Hope ya'all are doing well,
~Rx

EDIT:  Could somebody here please send me a temporary password for emuxtras?  it will be a while till i hook up my Xtras computer anywhere that has my login info in an encrypted file and not only do I not remember my password to the site, but I don't remember my password to the email that I used for it.

Thanks  cool.gif
