This is the place where you can view compatibility lists and download the extras for the major emus.  I will be updating this post often so come back to see what's new!!!

Your help is needed, and if you've played a game to the end or if there are problems in the game that I never got to, let me know and I'll enter the update and you'll get the credit.  I didn't test these from start to finish, and aside from a few that I remarked on, I probably only played a couple of minutes until I was satisfied that it wasn't broken. (This was an effective way to eliminate the obvious roms that won't work with the emu).

This is still a work in progress, so bear with me, but I think that there's enough to go on now.

NOTE ABOUT DATS:  I used clrmamepro to make the datfile.  I used Romcenter to match my roms up with it and it said all the roms were good.  I would use Romcenter to rename the roms with the dats.  As I will always be doing, I have included separate dats for each class of rom (US-English, Translated, Untranslated, Prototype, Non-Working, etc.).   Just add what you want!!!

Turtles in Time (teenage mutant ninja turtles IV?) works all the way through.
Contral III works all the way through
Super mario world I works all the way through
Super mario world II works all the way through
Top Gear 2 works all the way through
mega man x works to the final boss and I'm sure it probably works all the way through, I just can't beat the boss.
Super Mario Kart works all the way through. did not beat with all characters however
Street Fighter II Turbo works all the way with all characters.
Yoshi's safari works all the way through using joystick in lieu of light gun.
F-zero works all the way, through all leagues.

Thanks for the tips there competes2win.  I'll put your notes in there when I get a chance.

In the future it'd be great if people mention what emu the game they played is for.  There's a bunch of games that are for multiple consoles, so that will keep me from having to ask in the future.  I know that those up there are SNES games though.

Keep the list of games ya completed coming.   If anybody wants to help make videos just let me know and I'll grant you access to the lists.

Let me know if there are any problems with the Xtras packs.

EDIT:  Anybody try any of the packs yet?  Any problems, suggestions?

Hey man.  I agree totally about CoinOPS.   I've been pimping that system since I got turned on to it about 6 months ago.  It's got its flaws, but BP is making a lot of great changes, fixes and additions and he's warmed up to the idea of adding an expansion pack to add all the games he wasn't going to (and fix them) for people who want them and help out.  I plan on working on that in the future myself, but I'm immersed in the XPORT emus and ZSnesxbox right now.

I'd love some great working gun support, even though I don't have a gun now.  If you notice, in all of my spreadsheets I'm separating the games that are exclusive to the light guns and they're still in the "Working" part.  Hopefully any bugs get worked out in the future.  Sadly, I think that what we have now might be what we have in the future because most of these people aren't emu coders, but porters of previously made PC emus to the Box.  Mame seems to be quite different in how it's handled and much easier to integrate compatibility stuff than most of the other emus out there.  At least that's my perception after coding on Mame for several months and seeing what BP has done with it.

As far as CHD files, I doubt you'll ever see that.  XBox really isn't powerful enough to support them in a fashion that would make it worth while for someone to get them running right.  If I'm not mistaken, and BP didn't change his attitude twoards the matter, he doesn't support any games that don't run fine without the standard XBox memory even.  Which I can't blame him because a) barely anybody has an upgrade, and cool.gif the games still don't run very good from what I've heard.

Hope that clears things up for ya.

~Rx

BTW... this isn't really a Mame thread, at least not now.  If anyone wants to talk Mame I'd be happy to do it in a PM or in the forums.

I'll be sure to add it man.  I haven't used them at all, but I'm happy to add them.  To be honest, I completely forgot about them.  I'll try to do that tonight too, as well as a fixed skin pack and datfiles.

I'd also like to get gamefaqs walkthroughs for the games here, but that will be a TON of work because a lot of it needs to be reformatted to work right and look good on the screen.  Maybe something to look forward to in the future.

Have you downloaded these files yet?  I've mentioned it before, but I have to recreate and upload the datfiles because they were renaming the games with lowercase names.  Easy enough fix even if you ran your roms through the datfiles already as my new ones would simply use the case that my romset uses.  Also, I will recommend that people acquire the newest Good set of roms first because if you're working with any different CRCs than I've got, it won't recognize and rename them.  Romcenter makes it easy then to move all of the renamed roms to the folder of your choice so you can easily delete all the clones and bad roms after it's done changing the names.

I'll post instructions on how to do that.  You and Sotu should especially love it since you are the ones who made dual preview skins.  There's about 3,200 pics that will show up in that second window once you've got it set up right.  Every game has a vid and artwork.

Great job Rez!

I've not used the dat and probably won't since I'm already 80% done with my setup already but your artwork is saving me a lot of time as all I have to do is rename the box art I'm using and ftp it over.  It looks very nice.

I'm sure you know by now after all your work, but renaming all that and checking it by hand, even if it's only 20% more is going to take a whole lot longer than just running the roms through datfiles.  I can understand if you've personalized it by 80% that you want to see it through your way and have your own thing though.  (Once other people use mine, you'll have the unique ZSnesxbox setup lol).  Good luck to ya and I'm glad you can find the determiniation to get use out of my artwork even without using the dats.  I've probably done about 4,000 games worth of artwork collecting between the emus so far.  Glad I've finally done more than what's left to be done.

I do have a question tho about the Japanese box art.  Is there a way to tell the emu which art is US and which is Japanese for displaying?  I'm noticing some of the Japanese box art is displayed like US  boxart while others are displayed properly.  So can the images be labeled a certain way so that they are displayed in the desired format?

Unfortunately, the way it displays is due to the size (ratio of height to width) I believe.  Some art either didn't come that way or I converted before I realized that you could make the emu display the japan art the same by adjusting it.  I was using the Metriod skin and thought it looked real dumb when the Japanese art stretched out past the border.  I apologize for any inconvienences this causes people, such as yourself, now that it's all made.  This is why, sadly, I can't get much use out of your Castlevania skin beautiful though it is.  My only suggestions is to resize the artwork of the Japanese games or to get new ones yourself.  If you do that, I'd be happy to re-up the artwork  cool.gif

Thanks again for all the hard work.  This whole process is mind numbingly boring to produce but the final result is definitely worth it.

You know it man.  My mind is so numb at this point that I'm drooling on myself.  Emu looks great though...

Together we've all pitched in to totally overhaul the Zsnex emu, I'm looking forward to see how our creative juices combine on future projects.

Glad to have worked with you and looking forward to more in the future.  Thanks to you, the ones who have moved on, the ones who will continue to work with us, and to those new to the project who help us in the future.

I'm gonna mess with MednafenX Nes next.  biggrin.gif

Awesome.  Check my spreadsheet up-top for NES.  It's 99% complete.  You can see all the games that still need videos if you'd like to help with that.  I already have the artwork, testing and renaming games, so don't waste time with that.  All you'll need is a Good romset to run throuh my dats for NES and your names will match the artwork and vids on that.

Thanks man.  I'll add them as well.  52 I don't have to do now.

Genesis is my third console actually.  If you check the compatibility list, aside from missing videos, it's about 99% done.

Don't know how handy you are with videos, but if you want to make some, that be awesome.

I'd love your Castlevania skin if it was proportioned like Carbon Fibre.  The long list of romnames is nice, but there's limited real estate, even on my 51" tv, and I personally prefer very large video previews above all else.  (BTW.... your Carbon Fibre video previews are about as big as a 27" tv on my tv which is freakin' awesome)  I need to get HD cables cause my TV can show 720.

As for using another's skin, I'm all for it.  Look how we've been using emumovies for videos.  This is a community project and there are no copyrights or money to be had.  Just make sure you put a readme file thanking the original creator if you "sample" their stuff.  I'm sure P. Diddy would agree, or Mariah Carey, or one of a hundered different "artists" in the music world who do the same thing every day.  And they're making money for their work....

But yeah.... you'd have to get new artwork for the Japanese games.  I recommend going to gamefaqs.com and getting them there.  That's where I got any of the pics that I couldn't get in a torrent set.  It's a pain in the ass, but it works.

Keep the originals separate (with my file names), but copy them then to your artwork folders for your own use.  Then give me the originals with my names and I'll re-upload the set when I get a chance.

Till then, I'll just keep working and drooling on myself.... cool.gif

No problem man.  Glad to see somebody using them.  Let me know if you have any problems.  I'm always up for updating all this if something else works better.

Enjoy,
~Rx

EDIT:  Oops, forgot to mention that I have to update the datfiles.  They're probably making your romnames in lowercase.  I will have new ones here later in the next day or two.  You can just re-run the roms you got through them and it will fix them so they look better in the emu gui.

Sorry about that, I had some testing to do and need to fix it.

UPDATES:

Fixed skins pack uploaded with all current working ZSnesxbox skins that I'm aware of.  (If there are some missing, please let me know)

Fixed datfiles.  These will work perfect for you in Romcenter now.

I had to take down the file that converts the WMVs to XMVs.  It used code that is against the rules here (duh, that's why the XMVs are against the rules).  I am going to put the file back up without the parts against the rules because you'll need the batch file to convert automatically to the right settings in XMV.  The instructions will tell you how to get the missing files.

Rumbles and game guides are added.  (Please send me more rumbles or game guides if you have them and I will add them)

Badass man! Thanks!

My lack of foresight made it so I can't do pictures for everything like I wanted to.  I didn't consider a limit on the amount of pics you can upload, or think to put a couple of dummy posts up there in case the post got too long (which hopefully won't happen since most of the stuff written is done off-site).

I'll definately be moving that to the top and removing something else though.

You and your girlfriend are quite talented.   cool.gif

BTW... did you try out the extras for SNES yet?

I'd love to give back to you guys like you did with your skins... and now this pic.

Cool... Good to know it all worked for you.

I changed her name, sorry about that  cool.gif

I may be starting a new thread and requesting that it get stickied in place of this one.  Hopefully there is another work-around, but I'm limited to only 10 pictures per post.  I'll keep the first 5-10 posts to myself so I can put all the pictures if that's the case.  I'll also give a little summary of what happened during the first time this was up here.

At least it will be easy to do.  Just kinda lame that I might have to do it in the first place.

Later, and thanks again,

Glad you like it,

Already got somewhere around 700 videos for NES converted and on my Box.  Got all the artwork too.   Just need help making the missing videos before I release them, like I did with the SNES.  About 200 videos need to still be made before NES is released.  Hopefully, there is dual preview support and a few skins to go along with it by then.
