Wow Giles.....  That's just awesome.  Not even a day after the new emu came out.

See NES, I toldja.... If you build it, they will come.

Give your girlfriend a big thanks from all of us.  cool.gif

Now I'm wishing I didn't have plans tonight, but I'll have to check that out when I get back.

Almost done with the artwork for SNES.   Just a few more games to go and I'll release fixed vid packs as well as full artwork, manuals and datfiles.  Hopefully I can get it done before I have to go back to work.

Keep ya updated.

Figured I'd put this post where it really belongs, since it started out as a reply to Sotu in another thread....

Here's a few tips I meant to say first about Gilles new skin. First, I'm going to say that I can only speak in theory since I don't know the innards of the skin and emu, but the way the new skin presents itself is not normal and should be fixed by somebody who knows how. (Not talking any shit Gilles as this is totally awesome and I really appreciate the work you and your girlfriend did, just pointing out a minor coding flaw is all)

As it is, this is what you'll have to do....

1) First, select the Super Mario skin (the default one, not the new dual view one).

2) Then you can select the Dual view one. (You need to do this because Gilles Dual View skin pulls the setup information from the previous skin you were using and the Super Mario one is the closest to what we want. You may have noticed that if you had the Zelda one up first, that Yoshi's tounge moves from right to left on the bottom of the screen like Link did, or if you use the Metriod one first that Yoshi's tounge is in the top left corner where the Metroid was pulsating before.)

3) Find the commands in the GUI/Image options to resize/reposition the Sreenshot preview and use the joysticks to reposition it in one of the windows. Then do the same for the Video preview.

You also might find at this point that some text doesn't line up perfectly at this point either. That can be adjusted similarly within the GUI/Text area.

I also chose to make the ZSnesxbox logo smaller via this method too so it didn't block so much of the top preview. You could choose to remove it altogether, but I like how it looks blocking the top window a bit. Sweet looking skin with these new features.

Hopefully somebody can work out that little bug and the next release of ZSnesxbox can just come with the skin working properly on load. Maybe do a Metroid and Zelda one with a dual window to go up there too.

Hope that gets you working,
~Rx

P.S. Thanks so much again to nes6502, Horscht, madmab, Gilles and Sotu for everything they've done in the last few weeks. When we get this all sorted out and presentable, we truly have an amazing thing to share with the community here.

Thanks Rez for the explanation I missed the Video Preview option down there at the bottom of page 2.  Now things are making sense.  biggrin.gif

I need some inspiration to make a skin.  I'm missing a good source for high rez video game images. Any ideas?

You and me both man... I want to make a skin, but am lacking in quality art, and looking at some of the stuff in the existing skins, im not sure that they didn't make all that themselves in either photo shop or someting like inkscape... I don't have those kind of skills unfortunately, not yet anyhow.

QUOTE(sotu @ Aug 2 2008, 02:39 AM) View Post

I'm thinking a Castlevania Skin or something.  But then again Maybe something really plain and dark would be nice too.  I've just been using google images hoping to find something special.

I never really gave castlevania any playing time. F-zero definitely would be my vote... but go ahead, try finding art for that one... I mean I suppose i could make a skin using a lot of n64, gamecube fzero graphics but i don't know. I'm going to be trying my hand at making a skin for xbmc thats just for emulators and use .cut files so perhaps that will do.

Castlevania would be SWEEEEEEET!   Me and both my brothers played all of them since back in the day on NES.

I like FZero too.  Like to see that too if you do it.

Hoping to get another Metroid and Zelda Skin with dual previews too.... Maybe it's not too hard to make two windows on the old version?  I'm dumb at photoshop though.

Works for me man.  I like it.

I figured it was a tough job.  I was going to ask my brother who has a Mac and photoshop to do it for me and I was going to pay him, but 12 hours after the new emu came out you already had one done lol...

If you made a 720, I guess my TV displays it fine.  I thought mine only displayed 480 because I have the standard outputs from the XBox.  I believe my TV will do 720, but I didn't think it was capable because I don't have the HD outputs...

If you do the next one the same way, it will work for me.

Thanks,
~Rx

BTW... there's an awesome Rock version of the Castlevania Theme song that everyone knows.  I'll look around and see if I still have it or if my brother can find it for the skin.  If you haven't heard it you'll love it.

rz~x: if you have the sound in wma, pm me it; or in mp3, i ll convert it
i have already one or 2 remix of castlevania, so i ll choose the best (and oh, it s really simple to replace yourself the main song for in case you don't love it)
sotu, don't worry, i'm like you i love the simple and clean skins ; no worthless stuff

I found it..... Just listened to it for the first time in probably about 5 years and it sounds awesome.  It's just a rock band instrumental and it's over 8 minutes long.  I can't imagine there is a better version for the skin man.  This is some hardcore shit.  It ain't Yngwie Malmsteen playing it, but about as damn close as you'll ever get to him for a Castlevania game.  Gives me goosebumps just listening to it.  Maybe it's the A/C....

Hope you agree...

I don't know much about the details you mentioned Sotu, but windows the size they are in Gilles' skin are perfect for me.  I'm sure if it's somewhere around that size it will be no problem.

It's almost been a year and I didn't realise this had happened. The original poster said he would keep in contact with me to tell me of any developments as I freely gave him all of my psd files so he could expand upon them for any future zsnexbox developments. This goes to show how much I pay attention haha. I wish I'd have kept with this so I could improve my own images.

There were a couple posts that claimed I didn't make the images my self, while that is partly true for any character models, everything else was entirely self developed. I used existing character models because who else knows these characters better than their original artists?

Peace,

neverwill

P.S anyone who wants my psd's is free to have them, just pm me.
