It's certainly because you have choosen a 720p skin, in your case you have to choose a skin "without" 720p in it's name. I don't see why it shouldn't work with you, i have 5 friends with zsnexbox and my pm3 skins are launching the correct snes ratio for them (and they have sdtv's).
If it's a strange bug i can't answer you

I have retested them, and now i'm sure:
you have launched a 720p skin on your "standard tv", no luck for you because the screen settings are differents for the 720p skins i have created and the standard ones.
If you have a SDTV, launch one of the 8 in 1 skin without "720p" in its name, and you will see it will launch your snes game with the correct pixel ratio (test with a game like "toys" to check it easilly.)

Now, if you have a HDTV, (and a xbox with component cables) launch one of the skins i have created with 720p in its name, and the snes ratio will be fine too when you will launch a game

Hi Ho
I thought I was being smart not to FTP the 720p skins on the Xbox to begin with.
I don't have any 720p skin on my Xbox.
So, the problem was another one from the beginning.

Maybe it helps: After applying one of you skins, even changing the skin path in the ZSNESBOX.ini back to a retail skin won't fix the problem.
It seems to me that the skins I have on my Xbox ARE 720p O_o
However, even the images in the skins are 640x480, lowRes :-/ and no 720 in any name.

This may be a "strange bug you can't answer me" after all.
Perhaps you can answer another question: where is it you defined the "resolution thingy"? I think I could fix the problem by changing some values. Is it the *skinname*.ini ?

If I am bothering you, don't bother with me. I can also live w/out your skins

on the other hand, it could be too interesting to spot that troublemaker, called bug.
;-)
See ya

There isn't "true" hd skins for zsnexbox (even the neverwill 720p skins are "upscaled 512*512 background images).

It's boring me, you are the only one who have problems having the correct ntsc snes resolution with my 8 in 1 pm3 skins.

I don't remember very well, but yes i suppose it is stored somewhere in the "skin name.ini"
I had set the GUI within the emu, set the screen resolution (helped with games like toys, zelda 3, or the stage 1 stairs in tiny toons buster loose) and rename the zsnexbox.ini into "skin name.ini"

You are sure you are playing on a standard tv (4/3) and using a 8 in 1 pm3 skin "without" 720p in it's name?
are you using us roms? (i hope you will, 60hz... better than the crappy 50hz...) your xbox is in 60hz ntsc?

Sorry i can't help you more to solve the problem?

p.s.: I garantee, my other friends with xbox with sdtv are launching automatically the snes us games with the correct pixel ratio with the pm3 8 in 1 skins without 720p in theyr names
And in my case (i have a hdtv) the skins with 720p in theyr names are launching my snes games wityh the correct pixel ratio (i play zsnexbox in 720p of course)

Hi Ho
@ Gilles: I am using 4:3 TV, Xbox is NTSC (via Enigmah, it even was NTSC when unmodded, lol). I did not get to play any rom with you skins, since I am happy to get out of ZSNESBOX alive afteryppyling your skins. =) NTSC = 60Hz
MAybe I should try a 720p skin, just to see the difference.

(lol, the edit-button disappeared as fast as it had shown up) EDIT: AHA! the edit button only shows up fo a short time after creating a reply biggrin.gif

Here you can see, what ZSNEXBOX looks like after I selesct one of the non-720p skins:
IPB Image
On the right portion (1/3) you can see a part of the skin. In the center are the menu items, represented by some lines.
When I go deeper into the emulator, the screen starts to flicker at a low speed (~2Hz)

I also have tested one 720p skin. It just gets me a black screen, still with the "menu lines".

I just tried Gilles skins for the zsnexbox ona Sd tv-the same kind your describing just to see if they worked..........................................and they work flawless.

edit: the only wrong with them is the preview and the screen shots are not lined up with where they should go + the main menu's zsnexbox logo is stretched out but both of these things can easily be fixed through the configs.

Ultimate 509, can you confirm my skins are launching your snes games with the correct picel ratio (try with a game like "toys" or "zelda 3", or the stairs in the first stage of tiny toons buster loose, good diagonal here)

The main purpose of these 8 in 1 skins is to launch your snes us games with the correct pixel ratio (use us roms, 60hz is always better than the crappy 50hz)

False

You can have the correct pixel ratio by using one of my pm3 skin for zsnexbox

8 in 1 pm3 skin pack for zsnexbox

I have set (with the help of some snes games like toys, zelda 3 etc...) the original pixel ratio. The info is stored in the skin folder. So load one of these skins in zsnexbox (don't touch anything), launch a game and TADAAA!!! You will play snes games on zsnexbox with the correct pixel ratio!

Thanks! Did not see your comment till today. :>
Will this also allow scaling the screen up to hd resolution? Setting up the sd resolution with the help of fancyxbox was not really a problem, but calculating the hd values is, because you can't just multiply these 641.99932 values by 2 or 3 and expect something correct to come out.

Ah, you already answered this. biggrin.gif

Hey NES (or anyone who could code this little change in)...

I was wondering if we could choose which directory to put our videos in.  Now that we're working on updating the interface on XPORT's SNES emu as well, I wanted to put my videos in the "F:\Media\SNES\Movies" folder like I do for all the other emus.  The collection is so huge, there really is no justifying having this sitting on two places on my hard drive.

I like having two different emus for this system since between the two of them all but a small handfull of games play right.

Thanks man,

One thing I'd love for this emulator to have would be the ability to take unlimited screenshots, ala NeoGenesis/PscXbox/etc. Currently, you can only take up to eight shots, and you have to switch between them manually and you can't assign a button on the controller to take the screenshot without entering the menu. I know the feature obviously wasn't intended for the purpose of taking hundreds/thousands of screenshots per game, but I really like doing so with RPGs, since playing through the games is fun enough, but you also end up with tons of HD screenshots; great website content and such. I'm pretty excessive when it comes to this with certain other emulators, so with Zsnexbox I'm trying to only take 8 really good shots over a decent amount of time, and then taking them onto my computer; where they each have to be manually renamed as well.

So to sum up, I'd very much like to be able to take as many screenshots as I want with ease per game, just like in NeoGenesis and the like, assignable to a button on your controller. Would be a top feature to have added in the future. Cheers.

Anyone....?

Kind of a big important feature we need here if we want to maintain dual compatibility with all the videos and other Xtras and the two emulators.  Otherwise, it's going to require a separate library of identical videos for this emu weighing in at something like an extra 10GB.

All the other emulators, when i enable the bilinear filtering the image is very very great and smooth.Like it's supposed to do, but in Zsnes the image is aways pixeled like no filtering.

The games on Zsnes looks like the old-dos games running on a old VGA monitor.

I'm using a oficial Microsoft HDTV adapter , but this is the only emulator that the image is very ugly and pixeled. All the other emulators runs great in 1080i with the bilinear filtering smooth effect.

I don't like the software filters and that's why i aways use the Bilinear.

Someone can help whay this is happening? Is there a way to correctly enable it?

What about using the same video and artwork directory in SNES9X ?

I was doing that before, but it's not going to work with the new media system for XPORT emulators and the way that everything else is set up.  Eventually I want a huge torrent with all the Xtras and that would just confuse people having the SNES videos somewhere else.  I'm really hoping to get a reply here on this.  It shouldn't be a big deal to fix if I wasn't being ignored.

Does anyone know if there is a line to manually edit on my PC that would change the directory so I don't have to rely on somebody else fixing this for us?

If not, I'm just going to be using ZSNESXBox in the future as a way to play the games that don't work on XPORT's emu, instead of vice-versa, which is how I was doing it before this became a problem.

Just out of curiosity, why?

Virtually no games run fullspeed on Snes9xBox (there is frameskip in most games). The sound emulation doesn't compare. Of course, none of this has anything to do with the port. It's just the nature of Snes9x on the Xbox. The same issues affect XSnes9X. I know work has been done on it, but in the end, isn't the emulation what matters most?

Personally, I would rather have fullspeed 99% perfect emulation verses some bells and whistles in the GUI.
