There are a lot more I would like to have, but I don't have the time. Hopefully, people can make some more and post links to the WMVs in this thread.

Here are 45 previews I made.

http://www.mediafire.com/?14njbsc3z19

I cannot host xmv movies, but these are the WMV versions. To convert:

1) Put them in the ZsnexBox\videos folder
2) Install wm8eutil_setup.exe
3) Double click "run.bat". This will convert all the WMV files to XMV
4) Delete the WMV files and rename the XMV files to match the ROM names.

The previews are:

Axelay
Dracula X
Combatribes
Contra III
Darius Twin
Donkey Kong Country 2
Donkey Kong Country 3
Earthworm Jim
Earthworm Jim 2
Final Fantasy II
Final Fight
Final Fight 2
Final Fight 3
Final Fight Guy
Flashback
F-Zero
Gradius III
Killer Instinct
Megaman X
Megaman X2
Megaman X3
Mortal Kombat 3
Mortal Kombat II
Pilotwings
Rock N' Roll Racing
Rockateer
Samurai Showdown
Star Fox
Street Fighter 2
Sunset Riders
Super Castlevania IV
Super Earth Defense Force
Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts
Super Mario All-Stars
Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars
Super Mario World
Super Punch-Out
Super R-Type
Super Smash TV
Super Soccer
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Tournament Fighters
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV - Turtles in Time
U.N. Squadron
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3

The converter used was missing a dll. I have updated ZsnexBox 3.4 with a different converter. I have also changed the batch file.

Put them in the ZsnexBox\videos folder
Double click "run.bat". This will convert all the WMV files to XMV
Delete the WMV files and rename the XMV files to match the ROM names.

You don't have to edit the WMVs. The ZMV can just be appended to in ZSNES. A user could create a ZMV of a boss in a game. The user could stop recording after the boss. The user could then append to the ZMV at some other point in the game. This way all the editing is done to the ZMV.

It doesn't take that long to make a preview. Once everything is setup, the entire process only takes a few minutes. For example:

Start the game in ZSNES and record a ZMV for 30 seconds.
ZSNES creates the movie from the ZMV in less than 30 seconds (it will create a merged.avi file)
Create a profile using the tutorial to convert an avi to WMV (1500 Kbps at 60 FPS). The profile would convert merged.avi to merged.wmv. After the merged.avi is created, this profile can be double clicked and it will start Windows Media Encoder with all the correct settings. The user only has to click the encode button to convert the merged.avi to merged.wmv.

The entire process would take two minutes in that example. The previews I made were only 15 seconds long, and since I just used intros, it only took me about a minute to make each one. I'm hoping some other people will make more.

I found This Tutorial to be quite helpful in making an AVI that WME is happy with.  The filesize is significantly larger than the ones you did (11megs for 21seconds) which is the downside.  But for me it seems to be the only option and I've got my emu's on their own 320gig so I'm happy to just be able to make some that don't error out.  Really happy right now!  biggrin.gif

I believe a lot of the video work has been done already NES.  A tracker I belong to has a large video collection of SNES videos.  I'm not sure what format they are or what quality either though.  Unfortunately, the tracker has been down for almost a week.  I hope it's just some server issues or something.  Of course I won't give any links in here to a tracker, and I won't even think about posting them here if they're in XMV format, but if I do manage to get this collection if the tracker comes back up I'll let you know.

Another alternative of course is to buy them...  http://www.emumovies.com/ordering.html

I know I'm not going to sit down any time soon and make hundreds of videos if they're already done.  I haven't given up on the tracker yet, but it might just be worth $40 bucks just to get it all done.  We'll see what the future brings.  They're all in .avi format there, so if you or I or somebody else bought them and shared them, it would be no different than sharing the files you put up here before.

EDIT:  Screw it.  I bought the DVD set and a lifetime membership to the ftp there.  $45 with shipping.... I'll check out the SNES videos when I get access and let you know.

If this works, I'll have about 10,000 videos supposedly that could also be used as previews on other emulators if we ever get them working on XPorts emus.

Of course, if anybody else would like to show support to them over there afterwards, that's great.  I can imagine the amount of work that it took to compile that collection.  That's why it was worth $45 to me not to have to do it myself   cool.gif   (Although I'm sure I have tons of name cleaning up to do now..... grumble grumble....)

Hey NES, (or anybody who might know)

Is there a way to convert from .avi to the correct .wmv format in bulk?

I'm doing this one video at a time and at this rate it's going to take me a month to convert them.  I don't mind if I can set it to convert and it takes a day or two, but I'm sick of having to be by my computer to start up each and every one.

BTW... the vids look great.  They start showing gameplay and then at the end of each video they show the action up to the titlescreen.  It's obvious that these guys did a lot of work.

Ok, I finaly got to use them (I had to "find" Windows somewhere wink.gif).

I noticed that some of the .xmv's have choppy sound when previewed in Zsnexbox. The sound is just fine in UnleashX though.

did something go wrong converting wmv to xmv?

yeah madmab.  EmuMovies is the place.  They're still here.  I've got 702 SNES videos (in avi format).  They're great too.  It's apparent the amount of work that went into them.

Unfortunately, with a computer that is heading towards its second birthday, and the fact that I have to be sitting here to start every avi to wmv conversion is going to make progress take forever.  WM Encoder is such a resource hog that I can't even type in excel or on the internet while it's doing a lot of its work, so it's really impossible for me to be doing any other XBox stuff while its doing its thing.  It takes about 1 minute just to get the conversion started and another minute to do the conversion.

I'm wondering if there is anyway to make a batch program like NES provided to convert to xmv.  There's got to be a better way to do this.  One where I can just let it do its work for a day or two and I can come back to it when it's done.

well, let it run overnight...

also, you could only convert a few at a time, like, only copying all the ones starting with A, B and C and convert these, next time convert D,E and F etc.

edit: too bad the emumovies site does not have the SNES videos as torrent...

Yeah.   Nice constructive reply....

As far as I know you can only do one file at a time.  That's why I'm posting about it here.  Can you think of a reason why I might post about it here if I was able to let it run overnight?

I tried doing it one file at a time too, but the severe lag it puts on the computer when you select one at a time is rediculous.  When you put it on 50 files at a time it takes a few hours to finish after you select them, and then when you go to the output screen it starts wigging out like it always does, only this time it will take as long as it takes for 50 files.  Not to mention that it only lets you put one file name at a time for output and there is no way to just convert a ton of files and use the source name.

I can't explain it any better.  It's the biggest bitch of a program I've ever used.  Next time you post a reply about it, try the program first and see what I'm talking about.

Anybody that knows... is there a way to write a dos batchfile that will convert multiple files with the correct settings like NES provided for converting to xmv?  It takes forever in the GUI and I'll probably never finish it if I have to do all of them this way.
