You can adjust everything in gui on Xport emulators  (go to skin configuration in video options)

hey nes6502. I realy love your emulator, it's awesome.

I was wondering though, why Starfox2 doesn't work with zsnexbox?

It's working perfectly fine in the latest zsnex for PC and also snes9x (snes9xbox by xport as well).

In Zsnexbox, the game starts fine, but the screen flickers in the 3D scenes. Making that game work would REALY be beautiful smile.gif

PS: if you want to "know more" about Starfox2, pm me

Hello NES,

I know you're not around much anymore, but I figured that I'd take the time to let you know that Horscht and I have finished the videos for your emulator through the letter O now.  I know he's working on some videos in S now and as soon as he finishes them, I will put together the P-S set  and post it.  Thanks for the great update.

I had a few questions for you now, and I thought this is probably the best place to directly address you.

!)  Can you make it so people can put subfolders in the "image" folder?  I have an extensive collection of SNES manuals That I converted from .PDF to .JPG that work perfect with this ability that I would be happy to share with you if you added this ability.   Even better, would be to have an in-game option on the menu to "view game manual" which would display the first page of the game's manual if the containing folder was the same name as the currently played rom.  Of course, having the ability to scroll through the images from the first page would be great.

2)  Is it possible with the XBox's limitations to display the vids in one box and also the screenshots scrolling in another, smaller box?  I have an almost perfect set of SNES Boxart/cart scans/titleshot/action shot and the same for many other emus that I would hate to see go to waste if videos become the norm.  I was thinking a way to alternate between the two displays at first, but then I thought if the XBox can handle it wouldn't it be cool to have the videos and the artwork packs display at the same time?

3)  Any advice you have for someone like madmab or others who are more emucoding savvy than I am to get these abilities ported to XPORT's emus would be greatly appreciated.  I have nearly complete artwork packs, video sets and manual scans for most of the top systems and would be happy to share my work someday if we can get all of the major players working with full functionality.

You've proven it can be done man.  I wasn't around when you started, but I hear that there were many people saying that the emu port you created could never be done, yet here it is...    thanks for all of your hard work, and consider my work on your emu video collection my show of thanks.  I'm sure Horscht and Sotu feel the same way.

Thanks for everything you've given us here, and I sincerley hope you consider my requests because I feel that they can lead to the perfect emu experience on your platform.

Thanks,
~Rx

If I get some time, I will look into subfolders.

It's possible. But since there are no skins designed for it, I assume noone would use it. This diminishes the motivation to add support for both.

I have already added this ability to Xports emulators. It's 99% finished. I added it to the framework, so any Xport emulator can be rebuilt and the feature will be there. I'm not sure when I will release this.

That's awesome to hear that you're personally working on the XPORT emus for videos.   Hopefully the subfolders in images isn't too much trouble, or a function to view the exact manual for the game you're playing if it's named the same and in the correct folder.

I know there are people around here who would make skins which supported both videos and artwork simultaniousley.  Especially if I have completed video and artwork sets waiting for them.  If you make it, they will come.... cool.gif

Thanks again for all your hard work NES and for the quick reply.

WARNING

At the time of this release, bsnes and SNESGT are the only Super Nintendo
Entertainment System (SNES) emulator capable of playing Der Langrisser.
Both ZSNES and SNES9x contain flaws in their sound emulation engines that
will cause Der Langrisser to sporadically slow down and lock up during
gameplay. These crashes occur roughly every half hour, and use of fast
forward features will exacerbate this problem.

Once this bug is triggered, the game will lock completely. It is impossible
to recover, and you will lose all unsaved progress.

For ZSNES users, a known fix is to disable "Stereo Sound" through the sound
configuration window. There is no known workaround for SNES9x.

The player hereby understands he is using these emulators at his own risk.
As an aside, the alternative emulators SNEeSe and SNESGT may be capable of
playing Der Langrisser, but they remain untested!

Der Langrisser has been tested on actual SNES hardware, and is verified to
function correctly. If you have access to a flash cart or console copier,
this is undoubtedly the best way to experience the game.

Q: What version of ZSNES is this?
A: Currently the code is using the 2-28-05 WIP version.

Q: Why aren't you using the latest ZSNES code?
A: Because it is not stable enough. However, versions
1.0 - 1.2 use code from around 3-29-06. If you are
having trouble with a game, you could try one of
these versions since they have a newer ZSNES core.

seing as zsnes 1.51 is a "stable" release (which has been released in 2007 iirc) as opossed to a WIP-release, it should be safe to implement the 1.51 core. if I had the skills, i'd try implementing the zsnes1.51 core but I have no clue nor a Xbox dev environment. going back to 1.2 is unfortunatelly not an option either sad.gif

I've got the ability to tinker with emulators, but I dont' have any skills. I managed to do quite a bit with MAME but XPORT's stuff was way out of my reach.  I don't imagine I'd be any help at all with this.  Here's hoping somebody does something with it.  There are quite a few more games that didn't work than I had originally thought before taking on this project.

it seems a lot of incompatibility is caused by an old zsnes core. Here's an excerpt from the Zsnexbox readme:
seing as zsnes 1.51 is a "stable" release (which has been released in 2007 iirc) as opossed to a WIP-release, it should be safe to implement the 1.51 core. if I had the skills, i'd try implementing the zsnes1.51 core but I have no clue nor a Xbox dev environment. going back to 1.2 is unfortunatelly not an option either sad.gif

It's stable in the sense that it won't crash. But many more popular games have serious issues. As far as Star Fox 2 running, you won't get very far before it crashes (or so I've heard). The core used in ZsnexBox was picked after weeks of testing several cores by several people to determine which offered the best compatibility for the most popular games.

I also added the ability to disable stereo, and it did in fact fix Der Langrisser. However, this is not an option that can be changed more than once. It causes ZSNES to crash. So the best I can do is create a version of ZsnexBox with Stereo disabled, and a user could use that to play Der Langrisser only.

I also tried some of the previews and they were great.

Glad you liked the previews NES.   cool.gif

I'll give you the link for the artwork when it's done and a datfile to run your roms through to match names with the vids and artwork.
