The new "Media stream" is of course the hot skin right now... However it is so polished and complex that I'm not sure you would like it since it seems like you primarily use your xbox for emulators (?).

I'll have to look into that.  I actually use it as a media server too.  I've got about 2.5 TB of movies, tv shows and music and when I'm not testing or working on the Xtras most of the use on the box is towards that.  I'd also like to get a mic for Karaoke parties in the future, but I'm trying not to spread myself too thin here.

I didn't get these completed before my pc's power supply failed.

Bummer man.  I bought an OCZ powersupply from Tigerdirect for over 100 bucks to power all of my hard drives and it broke in about 6 months.  Whatever it did, it blew the whole circuit in my apartment.  I thought my computer was going to start on fire.

Lesson learned.... don't buy OCZ's overpriced crap.  Only power supply to EVER fail on me.  I got a lot more life out of the ones that come with a cheap case.  And Tigerdirect sucks too.  Newegg.com all the way.....

Nice work by the way.  We've never talked before, but I've seen your threads in here and saw some other site where you went pretty in depth on how to make rumbles.  If gilles read that first to make his rumbles I'll thank you for that too. They're pretty sweet.  It would be nice if more people worked on them and we got full sets of them too.  Pipe dream, though it is.

Later,
~Rx

Cool.  I use the 360 skin myself, so I'm wondering if this would work for me.  The icons on that don't seem like they'd work with these.  Which skin would you use them with?

As has been mentioned, wide icons work great with the 360 skin.   This thread might help a little if you are interested in wide icons:  http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=574494

Finally got my pc up and running again (been using my server in the meantime).  I'm going to start back up tonight and try to finish off the category icons (program and game category icons in the same format) and then finish up the emulators.

How do I separate this icon, so I can use them? They are all together....

Alright, I finished up pretty much everything in my Emulators folder, although there is a lot more emulators out there to make icons for.  I'm going to work on making Games category icons (FPS, RPG, etc) to match my motif, then go back and finish up the other emus.  As far as Homebrew (apps as well) goes, I'm only going to do the few that I have, and the rest I'll leave to requests as there are a ton of them out there, and I doubt many people have/use all of them.  I put all my icon into a photobucket account, so it should make it easier for people to get updates.  I also have upped some to Media Icons (my site of choice btw for icons), although I'm not sure if/how I can delete and reupload some of the icons I've corrected.  Once again I plan to do ALL emulators for completeness, but if you have requests for apps/homebrew let me know.  Also if anyone needs my psd template for these (its nothing fancy) to make their own let me know.

Hey Guybird,

When you finish your work would you mind zipping it all up for me to mess around with?  We're working on an emulation project with skins and I believe that your wide icons would go great with the skins as alternate banners.

Great work man,

I'm pretty much done with what I wanted done, although there's a lot of obscure emulators to be done still.  I figured I'd go ahead and put up here what I have so people can see it without jumping to another site.

Sweet.

I love the blue but have you ever tried to turn it transparent as discussed earlier in the thread?
Or turning the blue into the same gray in pm3 so it appeared that the black faded into the background?
If so what did it look like?
I think it might look pretty cool but I could be wrong.

Sweet Guybird, my man....

FYI to everyone, Guybird sent me the first group of banners that he made and I hope to work with Gilles and madmab to get them to work flawlessly with the "dynamic skins" (currently unnammed) that will allow the end user to control virtually anything about the way that the skin looks.  That means that anyone who created wide icons could add to the project with their work, along with anyone who would like to work on fresh background and sub-menu images to make the XBox emulators have the ability to add to a virtually infinate amount of graphical combinations so even if we all have the same roms/artwork/videos/etc. our emu skins will make our emulators unique to anyone else's.

Anyone who has some icon packs (or any other skin artwork when the skin template is finalized) is welcome to send them to me when they're completed and I'll put them in the dynamic skins packs as the emulation support comes out for them.

Later,
~Rx

Is anybody else having this same problem?

Or know how to fix it?

are you talking about you testing that skin everyone is working on? or are you talking about within xbmc?

If you meant within xbmc they show up blurry, in what skin? the resolution on those should be fine, as it is close to default. I know some skins have a really large wide icon view though which makes them blurry. but you can also create an advancedsettings.xml and in it set specify 384 as the cached thumb size... something like <thumbsize>384</thumbsize> or you can go as high as 512, but depending on the skin and everything it may cause slowdown on xbmc. If you do this you would have to recache the thumb for it to be reset. the xml goes into the userdata folder. here is a link to creating the advancedsettings.xml
