Emulators Wont Remember Screen Position/size?!

I just got a 42 inch HDTV. In emulators such as xport ones and even xsnes9x from back in the day, I set them to 720 P but whenever I launch a game the picture is in the top left corner of the tv. I resize from the config menu but it wont remember it. Ive tried over and over.  I dont wanna have to resize EVERY time I load a rom. This never occurred on my CRT tv w/480i . I even change the flicker filter and that gets reset too. The video settings seem to get reset in nearly every emulator. Any ideas?
