Wide Icons For Our ROMs

So you really think Boxart is the way to go for the games Sotu? (MAME and FBA excluded for obvious reasons, of course)

I'll have to give this cut thing a real try.  I loaded up a few games on it, but never did anything else with it.

Would save tons of time on everybody's part if it is better.

Maybe I should add all the boxart for the games I've put in the Xtras into this pack as well.  It would simply be a matter of using BombBloke's cutfile program with them and the roms to have boxart displayed for all your games in XBMC itself.

Pretty cool thought.....

Aye, good job with those, nice and vibrant.

Interesting to hear you're also using box art.  I'm constantly amazed at how great video game artists are.

Wow... those are great!

You do requests man?

Faxanadu, SMB1 2 3, and the Final Fantasy come to mind right now.

If we could get enough done like that it would be cool to have .CUT files to the favorites on a system using wide icons and boxart for just selecting all games from XBMC.

Hey Frank,

I've got some more requests if you're still doing them  cool.gif

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles I, II and III (You have the E version "Hero" Turtles and my bro will be like "WTF is a Teenage Mutant Hero Turtle?   jester.gif )

A Nightmare on Elm Street
Battletoads
Adventures of Lolo Series
Blades of Steel
Contra II: Super C
Crystalis
Demon Sword
Double Dragon Series
Dragon Warrior Series
Duck Tales Series
Karnov
Kirby's Adventure
Legend of Zelda Series
Metroid
Pinball Quest
Shadowgate
Tetris
Wizards and Warriors Series

No worries if you cant, but these are some pretty great games as well.  I know some of them are more popular than others.  You should try out the more obscure ones if you haven't yet.  Good mix of game genres here.

Thanks again man.  These look great!

They sure are.  I'd love to see a tutorial made for how to do them so we could one day see these made on all platforms.  They're so good, in fact, that I think there should be a name for the standard.  Something like "FM Wide Icons".

If you wanted to do a tutorial on this Frank, I'll put it on Google Docs and make it publically viewable so others that wanted to help could try making some.

Already got them up and running on my box Frank.   They look great on here.  Looking forward to new ones and whatever changes you have planned.

I finally used BombBloke's cut creator to use them too.  That script is great.  I just need a script to convert all the Xtras boxart so we can easily import our game libraries into XBMC with boxart previews for all games.

On my rig I want to have all the games showing with the boxart, and my favorite games a separate folder displaying wide icons like the ones you've created.

I started to using my new core 2.0 (Final) smile.gif

- 1 pixel border, so we can see the contours.
- Improved logo shadows.
- Some cosmetics.

I'll update old ones, same time when creating new ones.

Good, pixelly, but it's the way these games must be played !
It shows "really" what these games looked like (and i love all these pixels laugh.gif )
Pure famicom stuff. Good job
