Ikaruga
« on: April 27, 2008, 11:25:00 AM »

I know posts like this normally don't go here, but I post in here more than anywhere else and I wanted to share this with my friends here.

I just want to say that I'm not a big fan of companies recycling old games and making more cash on them.  If there are upgrades to the games, then by all means, feel free to charge what you'd like and let the market decide.  Just don't try pushing home system games with no changes at all, especially the ones that would be considered "Gold" if this were the record industry.  They have made their share and some people got wealthy from them, sometimes even 20 or 30 years ago, before many of us were born.  Of course, I'm sure we'd all like to see the creators make more money, but a lot of times it's the guys in suits that get the million dollar bonuses.

Now that technology allows it, these legacy should be made available to anyone who wants to enjoy them now.  Ideally, they will inspire us to make new creations.

First rate new downloadable games...... now that's another thing altogether.

My bro told me about the trial for Ikaruga on XBox 360 yesterday and I'm just going to go ahead and buy it.  I recommend anybody that likes games like Raiden Fighters to go and buy it too.  You're going to love this game.  It's by far the coolest overhead shooter that I've ever seen.  (Granted, I haven't been to an arcade in years, but they don't make a ton of overhead shooters on the XBox 360/PS3/Wii generation that I'm aware of.  I'm not even big into them myself, but this one is really impressive.  The trial is free now and it has just the first level if you wanted to just try it out.

Let me know what you think of it,
