Neo-geo Arcade
« on: April 05, 2008, 01:14:00 AM »

alright, this question is pretty damn noob, but instead of trying 80 different emus and hooking/unhooking my box from my PC i'd rather someone just outright says ______ is better

i'm looking for a emu that'll play the neo-geo type of arcade games. The three emu's i've tried so far only load up half of my roms and the neo-geo ones seem to be missing everytime.

which is strange, because i recall using mame on my PC to play last blade 2 but on the box it wont load it :S

anyone help me out here? which neo-geo emu rocks my socks?

i'm also using a 1.6 xbox  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

1.6, 1.0 doesn't make any diff.

Also why don't you just take a look at the stickied thread "the great xbox emulation answer thread" you know, the one that for some reason says "look here before you post." and I don't know while your at it man why don't you also take a look at the thread that is very cleverly called "Best Emulators for Xbox: Do you know which emulators to use?" ...

Oh and if you were to put just a bit of effort into researching things and i don't know go to that site called google and simply put "best neo geo emulator for xbox" IRONICALLY the very first link would be to that very thread...

who would have thought...

sorry for the sarcasm man, but for some reason I hate when people start a post "this is pretty damn noob" or "this is probably a stupid question" but then ask it anyhow, without trying to look first.... i hate it i hate it I hate it.

If you can manage to find FBA-XXX Pro ROM's, then definitely go with that.

Thanks, I actually ended up going with FBA XX but ran into some bios problems. And surprise surprise, there's no guide that tells you how to fix that. Lucky enough it briefly spits out the missing bios that it's not finding on screen before it tells your to exit.

It kept throwing me errors that I had bios images missing, and really basic ones too, so I figured they were for the neogeo bios.

I searched high and low on xbins with no avail.

I had the standard set of neo-geo bios (used for pc) and I actually went out and downloaded a mass number of "updated" sets that were exactly the same as my copy. Stumped at this point I just randomly started googling the missing bios names and even then I was pulling up oddball pages that mostly had people with the same problem as me, forum posters.

So eventually after searching for a good +2 hours I came across what seemed to be a cellphone emulation site. I signed up and searched through pages about arcade emulation on the phone, eventually someone attached a bios set that had the odd-ball files I was missing.

If your having troubles with bios sets with neogeo on FBA XX send me a message, i'll gladly help you out. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

some of the ones were:
neodebug.rom
uni-bios.10, 11, 12, 22
aes-bios.bin

I haven't used my xbox for some time now but all my neogeo games work fine without any problems. If I remember correctly, what you should do is check/verify you roms against fbaxxx's dat file using romcenter. Also, have you tried using the universe bios (http://unibios.free.fr/download.html)? I believe that's what I use.
