All Emulators Crash?
« on: January 19, 2008, 02:19:00 PM »

I have a v1.6b Xbox with Slayer 2.7 AutoInstaller, Updated version of XBMC, etc....but I've never been able to get any ROMs working properly. I downloaded the newest set I could find off of a torrent, and it booted up fine, even played ONE SNES game, but everything else crashes or makes my console freeze (unresponsive to any controller input).

All Sega/NES/N64/GameBoy Emulators become unresponsive as soon as the ROM's load (again, only had one SNES actually play...Killer Instint). None of the bundled EMU's on Slayer's 2.7 worked, but the new DVD I downloaded/burned would actually load the Emulators, just never play any games. I pushed everybutton on the controller 835 times, and rebooted with different titles many, many times.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If I were you I would just download the newest versions of the emulators because the ones with your installer cd are old. Re install them and see if that fixes your issues.

I did download new ones...from mininova. It's an entire new set of emulators (not the ones bundled with Slayers 2.7). It's all together on one DVD.

I wouldn't put any emulators you get off a torrent site on your XBox.  Who knows if they're virusing up your Box, or if you're just downloading crap files?   I know it can take some time to learn, but Get mIRC and go to the usual place to get the most up to date version of the emulators.  (Detailed instructions can be found in one of the first stickied threads up top).

Until you do that, I don't think anybody can really give you any help because your problems may be one of a million things that never happened to anyone who got the emulators the right way.

If you're using anyother dash besides XBMC for your main dash, drop em.  I used UnleashX the first 6 or so months that I had the Box modded, and I really liked it, but ever since I've made the switch I've never looked back....

Alright, I got the newest ZNES off of XBINS....do I just overwrite the current directory on F:\APPS? Could anyone PM me the best locations for ROMS?

Delete the emu directory.  If it's in F:\Apps, delete it there.  I can't remember where ZSNES saves its games and configs, but try looking in E:\Saves and deleting anything in there relating to SNES.  There might also be a TDATA and UDATA folder for ZSNES that you should delete as well.

I'd just FTP all your TDATA and UDATA to your computer for backup and then delete them all off your XBox.  The same with the E:\Saves folder.  You might as well because that's the easiest way to do it and you're starting over with good emus this time.

Let me know how it works out for you.
