Hey guys. I noticed you discussing Alone in the Dark in the "Mario Forever, would it be possible" thread in the other forum: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=634501

Though neither of you mentioned it specifically, I was wondering if you ever got the music to work on the game. It's the weirdest thing for me. After working on it for hours I finally got the music working and was excited a hell about it. What a let down when I tried it the next day and only the sound effects were working again. Except for that one time I got the music to work, any time I go into the options screen the "Music" choice is greyed out. Bummer.....

At least I know that the music will work with the version I have, if the settings are right.

Any ideas VampX or pdidd? I figured you'd appreciate that I didn't post that question in the other forum and brought it where it belongs. Hope you haven't answered this question a billion times before.

I copied AITD1 from my original game to my xbox hdd and i'll take a looksie tomorow. (saturday)

Nope no good news from my side, i just tried to run the game and it wouldn't even run!
it just kept giving me an error about indark2.cfg not found or something like that.

I tried running my original cdrom of AITD1 both from the HD and from the disc, both wouldn't run,
I also tried to run the ahum.. backup i had on an old compilation disc from back in the day,
and i got the same error about indark2.cfg not being found.

weird since i remember playing them on my dos machine not too long ago,
I don't know why i can't get it to run on my xbox with dosxbox.

very strange, too bad my dos machine is not networked or i would have installed it the proper way
and tried to copy the installed files to my xbox.
(because XP haaaaates running dos stuff)

Maybe pdidd could shed some light on what he did?

(or better yet maybe he could even upload that missing config file that my game seems to want)

Thanks for checking that out anyways VampX. Dosbox can be pretty frustrating sometimes. I don't use it much, but AITD is one of about 10 games I'd love being able to play if they worked 100%.

When I get done with my other projects, I can look into that and at least send you my config for this game that gets it to work with the sound, minus the music. If I ever figure out how to get the music to work and stay working I'll be sure to let you know.

You'd probably have better luck getting "Free in the DArk" ported to the XBox (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

wow that was a pretty sweet idea, and i say was because the project seems to be dead. (only one version released in 2004?)
damn shame that its dead, this would have been perfect for the xbox.

sadly its not worth porting the way it is now, the first game does not support projectiles,
so shooting guns is impossible according to the readme.

and 2 and 3 will run but with lots of bugs it says.
