Paper Mario With Surreal64
« on: December 27, 2007, 10:14:00 AM »

Hello!

I tried a long time already to play Paper Mario with the Surreal64 but there were always too many glitches to really enjoy it. I tried it now with the new Surreal64 XXX Beta 5 by Freakdave but it seems that Paper Mario doesn't work better on it. The main problem is for me that often in the game the sprites become totally black, but there are more glitches like sprites becoming invisible or text boxes with the text being invisible. The problem with the black sprites happens the first time when Bowser appears in the very beginning of the game but also more often later. Here two screenshots from the demo opening.

I started the game now with many combinations of emulators, plugins and settings and couldn't make it look much better but before I give totally up I wonder if anyone here did find out some settings that fix some of these problems with Paper Mario?

Thanks and greetings!

I don't think that the size of the rom is the problem here. First of all my Xbox has a 128 MB RAM upgrade and I also don't think that the result would be black sprites here and there. If I remember correctly the game uses some special graphic effects when the sprites become black (light effects) so maybe this can be fixed with the settings and/or the correct Rice plugin or the effect is not yet emulated with the Surreal64.

Did ever anyone fixed this black sprites problem with the Surreal64?
