I can't get any of my sega CD iso's to work...

I have tried both neogenesis and xenesis.

What happens is it loads up the game very slowly and then when I press start it just freezes, no sound ever comes on either.

Or another case It just loads the "sega" screen, and then freezes.

Each time I can still exit out of the game so it doesn't crash the xbox, but it just doesn't get anywhere.

I checked the sticky's and didn't see a solution to it.

I tested it with dark wizard and lunar 2...

If you are using Neogenesis,
Press A at the Start screen.
Next choose Memory.
Now Press any button.
Pick Format ram
Choosy Yes to format ram.
Exit

See if that clears up your problem.

If not make sure you've made the iso correctly. See here:

my bet is that you have the iso and the mp3 just piled in with all the other roms, if not all the other sega cd games, too. if that's the case, it has to dig through and find all the mp3s for the game. takes forever.

if that's the case, put all the sega cd games (iso and mp3's) in their own folders.

/Dark Wizard

DarkWizardCD.iso
DarkWizardCD01.mp3
DarkWizardCD02.mp3
...

and so forth. the other usual problem is that the mp3 tracks aren't named in the correct order with respect to the game iso.

I remember this hurdle.  Funny how foreign something that you spent so much time on sounds after you haven't thought about it for 7 months or so.

After reading the link and the posts that Koitsu and TheAgedGamer posted and refreshing my memory, I'd have to agree with everything they both said.  I'd be really suprised if you had anymore problems after following those directions.

I hate putting games in seperate folders, but it's pretty much a necessary evil if you want to use the ISO/MP3 format for Sega CD and Turbo Graphix CD games.  The Favorite games feature is a great way to bypass that ugliness though.  Just favorite the ISO file of the game and it will list it just like any Sega rom in the favorites menu.

Just remembered.... If you name the folder containing the ISO and MP3 files exactly the same as the ISO image itself, you will be able to see the screenshot for the game by simply highliting the folder.  It will not be necessary to open the folder and go to the ISO to see the screenshot if they are identically named.

I think setting up my Sega CD collection was one of the most frustrating XBox projects I've tackled.  No where near as frustrating though as getting a working romset of MameOX128 and FBAXXXPro or, my current project, making a complete compatibility list of PSX games for PCSXBox for me and for the community.  I'll be working on that until March probably.... if real life doesn't get in the way.

Damn my OCD....

Good luck to ya.

i don't recommend having spaces in your sega CD files. it might not matter now, but i think it did, maybe with xenesis before neogenesis came out.

ALSO, your mp3 file numbers aren't like mine. not 2 to 12, but 1 to 11. that may've been a xenesis thing, too, but it's certainly not right for neogenesis.

I may be wrong here, but I believe the NeoGenesis emulator was set up that you actually don't need to use cue files with the images.  I don't have any cue files with my images and they all work fine, but you have to use the naming convention mentioned before.   All of my mp3s start at 02 like yours do and I don't have any problems.  I'll have to check out Dark Wizard, but I'm positive that it works on my XBox.  I have screenshots of the title of every game and that would mean that I can at least get to the title screen on it.  Strange things have happened on my XBox from time to time.  You might want to try to reinstall the emulator and also get rid of any save data for it in the saves folder on your E:\ drive.  Also get rid of any save game information it may have in the save game menu (the one used to copy or delete your actual XBox saved games).  Then try it again.  Sometimes that has worked for me in the past.

Good luck

EDITED TO ADD:  I just saw xmugen360's post.  That's probably your problem then.  Maybe I just lucked out with a good ISO the first time.
