Missing .ini Files?
« on: October 09, 2007, 09:39:00 PM »

I have a bunch of Xport emulators on my box. Some work perfectly, while others won't retain the changes I make to the default settings like default save/ rom directories, play music on startup, etc. Those that don't are missing the settings.ini file (or [emulatorname].ini).

Originally I got all of my emulators from xbins, but I also tried to get the ones that weren't working via torrent. The contents of the .zip were the same, though- all missing .ini's.

So how do I create them or where do I find them?

I need .ini files for:

XBoy Advance
WonderswanX
Medafenx (Lynx)
AdamX (Colecovision)
BlueMsxbox (MSX)
X68000X (X68000)
HugoX (Turbografx-16/ PC Engine)
NeoPop (Neo Geo Pocket)

Careful man.... you may not want to mention where you got them emus except to say "the usual place", lest the fuhrer come around here and ban you for a week.

As for your .ini files, I couldn't really tell you.  I got all my emus from "the usual place" and I've never had the problem that you're mentioning.

If I'm not mistaken, the ini and favorites files will not be in your emu folder.  I'm assuming they're created after the first time you use the emulator because they are actually in your "saves" folder on your "E:" drive.  Check the E drive and the folder emu in question and you should find the files you're looking for.

All Xport emulators can be configured from within the emulator GUI itself, you don't need ini's.

if you are experiencing save problems do the following :

1 - remove emulator from xbox
2 - remove emu savegame from xbox (with the msdash or any other dash that supports removal of savegames)
3 - download the latest version of the emulator from xbins
4 - unzip it and transfer to your xbox
5 - reboot xbox
6 - start emulator and change settings, then in the emu slect the "back to dashboard" option
or whatever its called and it will send you back to your Dash.

I don't know if this is necessary but it might be a better way then using the IGR.

After some tinkering, I finally figured out what my problem was. For whatever reason, my E:\saves folder wasn't accepting new files to be written into it.

I created a new saves folder, copied the contents of the old one into it, and now the emulators are in fact creating folders and .ini files within that folder like they were supposed to. Thanks for the help and quick replies.
