CPX3 v1.0 - CPS3 emulator for XBOX

I fucking love this emulator. I've been waiting years to play Jojo on my Xbox, as I am too lazy to hook up my dreamcast.

The only "issues" I have thus far are mostly interface based. The controls don't save, right thumb click should enter the menu (IMO), it'd be nice to have the triggers set up to do multiple button presses (PPP/KKK/etc), showing ROMs you don't have is just silly and a few graphical glitches here and there. Still, it's damn awesome, very impressive.

Oh, while I remember, if you remap your directions to the analogue stick, up and down are listed as each other, but the direction you press is still the one used (ie, set "up" to "analogue up" and it will be listed as "analogue down", but it will still work properly).

Definitely an awesome emulator, Great work ElSemi.

However I also agree with the above comments stating the Menu interface could be cleaned up  (Right-Analog for menu, Back for Coin, etc)

Other then that...it's near perfection..3rd Strike ran pretty much flawlessly on my 1.6b 64MB Xbox with practically zero slowdown. Greatness indeed.

Version  1.0a is out

QUOTE
Version 1.0a

Fixed controls not being saved after configuration.
Fixed sound interpolation settings not being saved.
Fixed sprite/bg 1-pixel misalignment
Fixed autoframeskip code when using PAL50 screen modes. I've added an option in the Video settings
to select if you want to keep the PAL50 mode (and play at 50fps) or switch the xbox to PAL60 (not
supported in old TVs). You must reset the emulator for this option to take effect.
Rearranged the controls to a more standard layout:
Insert coin is now the BACK button, Service (credit) is white button, Test is black button,
GUI Enter/Exit is right thumbstick button.
The Virtual Memory cache was being stored in the Permament Title Storage, in the current partition. Now
it's stored in the Utility Partition, that is cleared when a new title is loaded.

*I know this has been said already but I have to add my two cents*

I think that the author of this emu should NOT listen to or take into consideration people with CPU modded Xboxes.  In future releases, (if any) he should optimize the emu for the majority of the users.  Most people on the scene don't have Friendtech's.  Those that do should just play and be happy the get a little better performance.

This first build is not bad at all.  I believe ElSemi can polish it even further if he plans to continue to work on it.  I love SF3 Second Impact!

Let me Break Down this quote.....

OK Hitler, Nice to know you think that people who have hardware different from others should not even be herd or considered - do yourself a favor and get a wider opinion and learn to remember the minoirty, as small as it is are the same as you and me.

I agree 100% with you!! I have only one Friendtech box and about 10 regular Xbox's - though I think that if there is a Optimization that can be made for users with 128 meg or ram Vs those who only have 64 meg of ram - the option should be there as in this community there are allot (majority) of homebrew users that have took the plunge to 128 meg of ram.

Also as he optimizes for regular Xbox's - the friendtech/trusty box should eliminate ANY HICCUPS that take place on a regular Xbox and smooth them out - so using a Trusty or Friendtech box is just a bonus as regular Xbox optimization takes place.

QUOTE

I agree Most (98%) dont have a Processor modded box - and friendtechs are the hardest to get - though the Trusty 1.0 GHZ are great for emulation and Linux - NOT XBMC (thats a whole other topic).  Though hear me out here - most HOMEBREW USERS that USE A DREAMX or TRUSTY 1.0 GHZ box want optimization for their box.  So in the future (not now - I agree that all homebrew should be optimized for the masses) once proggramming and optimization hit a wall regular useres - if the author is KIND ENOUGH to give us select few a additional option or two to make his VISION more complete in terms of optimization and playability - then please by all mean hear us select few who really want to use your creation to the fullest and Give us anything extra - we will tank you for it.  Though - LITTLE BETTER is an understatement - They are usualy TWICE AS POWERFUL as a regular box.

I agree - I love this build - I had a Party last night and we played CPS3 for a while - I had alot of fun kicking peoples asses (drunk) at SF3.  SO again I agree - I love SF3.

Just to reitterate the last post.

VERSION 1.0a is out.

Usual places - here i come...

And to all you Friendtech and trusty Box haters out there - this quote was never more appopriate....

DON'T hate the Player (thats me) - Hate the Game - (the fact that Hardware modded Xbox's are rare and expensive)

Don't hate the player - hate the Game - Not the Gamer...  LOL

Enjoy 1.0a all!

Great Emu - Great work

He's confused.

cps3emulator v1.0a is out, but it's for Windows PC NOT XBOX.

It's on ElSemi's website: http://nebula.emulatronia.com/

Well, the Elsemi co-worker (the one who makes the graphics) says that there is no reason to optimize this emu for tech users because the games runs pretty well on a regular xbox so there is no a real reason to do that... i readed that on elotrolado (the co-worker post there, in spanish).

I kinda like pushing the "back" button to toggle to the menu for the simple fact that I use the XBox Street Fighter Guile controller with has no analogs so it was a nice surprise for me.  If anything should be optional.

I know I know, what does it take to just switch a controller when finish playing or just plug in an analog controller into second player.  I just like the fact that I could push "back," that's all.

I also use Arcade stick (without analog sticks of course) and agree that will be nice if button for "in game menu" can be configurable (for example in place of "service button" which is useless)

Ps:
I updated skin to the latest version (1.0a)
CPX3 alt skin (v1.0a)

I think you are completely missing the point. If CPX3 was tweaked and optimized to run on the 733Mhz / 64MB Ram based Xbox's then the tweaks would pretty much be universal to all Xbox's

Why should ElSemi cater to a minority of those of 128MB Xbox's when getting optimization done on a the standard less powerful units to achieve perfect speed would make it all the easier to achieve the same speed on hardware altered Xbox's with 128MB of Ram.

Let me take it at a different angle.

Lets say for example you have a business to sell games....and 500,000 consumers have Console version A, while only 5,000 consumers have Console version B.

Tell me which consumer base is going to be far more accessible to please, garner better business and make more sales? I think the answer is quite obvious.

And on a last note....That Hitler Comment of yours was very hypocritical. Hitler wanted tightly controlled minority environment to his ideal view.

If something runs on the standard Xbox, obviously it's going to run on a 128MB Xbox because has more memory to allocate.

The same for developing software on a PC...if you make something to work on a slower end hardware, then something that goes beyond that low end requirement should run it also.

So to the end of this...Optimization on standard 733Mhz / 64MB Xbox's will also benefit the 128MB Ram Xbox's as well.
