Fusex V0.6 Spectrum New Version Released
« on: August 12, 2007, 05:24:00 PM »

Well, its been on my HD for over a year but I thought I should release it. Its improved a lot since the first release. I noticed Xport released DidntXSpectrum (based on the same source code as FuseX) and this inspired me to release my emulator too.

Oh, and this is fully open source...

Hope somebody likes it.

http://fusex.sourceforge.net/

NEW: Zip support.
NEW: Enabled graphics filters.
NEW: Emulator settings loading/saving.
NEW: Settings now saved per game (joystick setting and joypad config).
NEW: Tape fast-fwd loading option.
NEW: Tape control menu.
NEW: Subdirectory browsing in file list menu.
NEW: Re-Mappable buttons for emulator actions.
NEW: Nice splashscreen and dashboard icon. [Thanks Antiriad!]
NEW: Savestate slots now have an info panel to tell you what is in each slot.
NEW: Snaps can be stored anywhere on the HD instead of just within FuseX dir.
NEW: Wrote some proper documentation.
NEW: Added more user-tweakable settings for RZX demo mode.
CHANGED: UI is a bit nicer and more user friendly.
CHANGED: Virtual keyboard looks nicer and can be moved with the analog stick.
CHANGED: General optimizations. Should be less sluggish now.
CHANGED: Joypad mappings menu is more user-friendly.
FIXED: RZX loading _much_ faster.
FIXED: RZX memory leak.
FIXED: Big RZX files should now load.
FIXED: RZX compatibility improved.
FIXED: Sound stuttering (note: fix only works on PAL compatible boxes).
FIXED: Vertical and horizontal line running through centre of the screen.
FIXED: Lots of bugs.

Fusex is fantastic! It playes every game I've tested, and plays them perfectly!

Thank you so much, for such a superb emulator. Manic Miner (and rewrites) , Fairlight, Head Over Heels, 3D Deathchase, ZX Heroes, Split Personalities, Atic Atac, Jetset Willy (and the rewrites), the Monty games, and about a million more...

The XBox was missing a perfect Spectrum emulator, and now it's got it. Didn't XSpectrum is very good too, but I prefer the feel and menu system of Fusex.

But why did you make us wait a year for this?  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grr.gif)  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grr.gif)  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grr.gif)

This is what we like to see, a little bit of competition!  tongue.gif

This is excellent news, I'm gonna check it out now.

BTW does it have sound when loading a tzx file?

Cheers!  love.gif

Excellent emu btw,
I have a problem with the game bounder by gremlin graphics, the game freezes when you die, but on xports spectrum emu it works fine, know why ? , i actually prefer your fusex to didntxspectrum apart from this problem.

Hi. Glad you like the emulator. smile.gif

Try messing with the "R Register Save & Restore" option. This should fix it. Not a great solution but it should work.

Great Emulator, looks and feels exactly like the real machine when running in 50hz on a CRT TV  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

IMO, runs and feels better than any PC based Speccy emulator, due to the Xboxes 50Hz mode.

thanks, that works, so what is R Register Save & Restore, what does it do exactly  unsure.gif

also are you still working on this emulator ?

if so how about an option for having the spectrum run a bit faster somehow, as some of the games could do with a bit of a speed boost, probably interfere with the sound but that wouldnt matter too much.

btw I like the small font, its like the one from the hobbit adventure  laugh.gif

Hey skratchy, what hardware filter is fusex using?

Also I've found that found that .rtx compatability is better in fusex than it is in didntxspectrum.

Thanks again for your excellent port.

When I try to launch a .dsk file FuseX complains that I need lib765 and thus the game doesn't load, none of the disk image games work. Where do I get this lib765 file and where do I install it?

Thanks!

Sorry, I can't help you, but the author of FuseX regularly posts in the emulator forum of the World of Spectrum (      http://www.worldofspectrum.org/forums/   ) under the name Crabfists, see the post at:

http://www.worldofsp...ead.php?t=11043

so you'd probably be better off asking him. If you find a solution then please post here.
