Some of you probably already did this, but here is the full template including the custom game path for roms that you can save permanently as . txt file.

Sorry for the double post, but I noticed that you guys all made your wide icons in PNG. Is this the highest quality format, or should I rename them in JPG?

Hey great project going on here, I am shocked I never ran into this... Those Wide Icons you guys made are absolutly amazing (I like them a lot better then mine!)... My compliments out to all of you

Anyway, I noticed there might be some confusion about Wide Icon Dimensions... So I'll try to clean up that confusion as best as possible...Since I am the one who got Wide Icons to XBMC, I think I know what im talking about tongue.gif

So Here is some information about Wide Icon dimensions:

XBMC Caches icons at 760x160. If you go any bigger, the image starts to get distorted. So there would be absolutly no need to go bigger than that. If you have a Wide Icon that is 5,000x1,000, XBMC Will cache is at 760x160. The default dimensions used for TV Shows, Xbox Games, etc... Is the source which contains most of them already pre-made... For example:

tvdb (Also known as http://tvdb.zsori.com/)... This website contains the absolute biggest collection of made Wide Banners/Icons for just about every TV Show ever made. The default dimensions the site uses is 758x140. So this is what users should work with when creating TV Show Wide Icons. Not anything else.

xbox.com (Xbox's homepage at www.xbox.com)... Microsofts Xbox website contains a Wide Banner/Icon for just about every single Xbox game ever made (Wish I knew this when I started creating all those Wide Icons in the past!)... The default dimensions this site uses is 760x160. So when you guys create a Xbox Game Wide Icon, this is what you should work with. Not anything else.

Reason being, since we basically have Wide Icons for about every single Xbox Game/TV Show, why create the ones we dont have at a different resolution? Would just be silly cause it wouldn't fit right... I get asked this all the time (What resolution is best for each type of Wide Icon), so I just wanted to let some of you know

So to sum it all up, The default dimensions of Wide Icons are as follows:

TV Shows: 758x140
Xbox Games: 760x160
Homebrew / Apps / Emulators / Folders : Use what you want 758x140 or 760x160 (In my packs I used 758x140 for Emulators/Apps/Homebrew.)

Also note, MC360 is the only skin (I believe), that makes the Wide Icon look different then all the other skins... This is because the xml in MC360 makes the Wide Icon a certain dimension (368x84) which is a lot smaller then what it should be. Thats why some of you might experience the Wide Icons not fitting correctly in MC360.

I created mine at 758x140:
IPB Image
So when you guys create your Wide Icons, Create them at either 760x160 or 758x140. This will make them look fine for ALL skins... MC360 might look a bit different though.

Hi NineT9mustang, thanks very much for your input here. Much appreciated. I realise the thinking behind using specific resolutions due to other sites carrying icons for tv shows/games but as mentioned previously, the wide icons do in fact look better at 760x140 rather than 760x160 as you can see below...

IPB Image

the Middle icon is 760x160 while the other two are 760x140. As you can see the Middle icon is noticeably thinner than the other two, which fill their 'space' much better. Any idea why this is the case?.

Cheers,
Ebsy.

PS: Anyone have a ZX Spectrum wide icon? I was pretty sure there was one in this thread at some point, but it seems to have disappeared sad.gif

It's because the image is scaled to fit the maximum allowed height for the 'box'.

It looks as though the boxes for displaying the wide icons are indeed 758x140, if you try and put a 760x160 image in it will scale the image to fit and display it as something like 665 x 140.

Allowed height of box (140) / height of larger image (160) = ratio (0.875)

So 0.875 * 760 gives you the visible width of 665.

Hey Guys,

Could Someone make me a wide Icon with both versions of the American SNES, Like the one that Cospefogo made on page 2, but says Super Nintendo on top and "ZsnexBox" <(Correct Capitalization) on the bottom?

http://en.wikipedia...._System-USA.jpg
http://images.google...htt...l=en&sa=G

Also, a GBA one with the original GBA, a GBA SP, and a GBA Micro that says Game Boy Advance on top and XBoyAdvance < (Correct capitalization again) on the bottom would be awesome!

Thanks to anyone who can do this  biggrin.gif

Ebsy, as killergorilla stated, its because its scaled down via SKIN XML... I didn't know PM3 had its dimensions for wide icons so wide! So I can now understand the need to use that resolution then the other, sorry i think my post earlier is pointless now lol biggrin.gif

Anyway, kudos on the project, kudos on the wide icons made... abslolutly love it smile.gif

Hey there retroplay, don't suppose when you have the time you could knock up an MSX wide icon could you?

That would be real handy if you could.

Cheers  smile.gif

EDIT: and a Dosxbox one too if possible!

Sorry, I'm really thick, I found the DosXbox icon thanks. It looks great!

Retroplay, I was wondering if you have thought of turning your hand to maybe skinning some of the emulators? Especially Winuaex, it has a real;ly boring default skin, and for some reason or other hasn't been included in the MC360 skins that are available. Do you think you would ever consider giving it a go? I think because it;s such an amazing emulator it deserves a better looking front end. I'd have a go if I didn't have the artistic talent of a ten year old.  sad.gif

I already did a WinUAEX skin some time ago.
My WinUAE skin

I might do some more work on that someday, like animated logos and stuff like that.
