Hey great project going on here, I am shocked I never ran into this... Those Wide Icons you guys made are absolutly amazing (I like them a lot better then mine!)... My compliments out to all of you
Anyway, I noticed there might be some confusion about Wide Icon
Dimensions... So I'll try to clean up that confusion as best as possible...Since I am the one who got Wide Icons to XBMC, I think I know what im talking about
So Here is some information about Wide Icon dimensions:XBMC Caches icons at 760x160. If you go any bigger, the image starts to get distorted. So there would be absolutly no need to go bigger than that. If you have a Wide Icon that is 5,000x1,000, XBMC Will cache is at 760x160. The default dimensions used for TV Shows, Xbox Games, etc... Is the source which contains most of them already pre-made... For example:
tvdb (Also known as http://tvdb.zsori.com/)... This website contains the absolute biggest collection of made Wide Banners/Icons for just about every TV Show ever made. The default dimensions the site uses is 758x140. So this is what users should work with when creating TV Show Wide Icons. Not anything else.
xbox.com (Xbox's homepage at www.xbox.com)... Microsofts Xbox website contains a Wide Banner/Icon for just about every single Xbox game ever made (Wish I knew this when I started creating all those Wide Icons in the past!)... The default dimensions this site uses is 760x160. So when you guys create a Xbox Game Wide Icon, this is what you should work with. Not anything else.
Reason being, since we basically have Wide Icons for about every single Xbox Game/TV Show, why create the ones we dont have at a different resolution? Would just be silly cause it wouldn't fit right... I get asked this all the time (What resolution is best for each type of Wide Icon), so I just wanted to let some of you knowSo to sum it all up, The default dimensions of Wide Icons are as follows:TV Shows: 758x140
Xbox Games: 760x160
Homebrew /
Apps /
Emulators /
Folders : Use what you want 758x140 or 760x160 (In my packs I used 758x140 for Emulators/Apps/Homebrew.)
Also note, MC360 is the only skin (I believe), that makes the Wide Icon look different then all the other skins... This is because the xml in MC360 makes the Wide Icon a certain dimension (368x84) which is a lot smaller then what it should be. Thats why some of you might experience the Wide Icons not fitting correctly in MC360.I created mine at 758x140:
So when you guys create your Wide Icons, Create them at either 760x160 or 758x140. This will make them look fine for ALL skins... MC360 might look a bit different though.
