I burned the roms to a dvd using sonic record now deluxe. I burned them as a data project. They show up when I put it in but just has the file name.smc. I still cant play them. Is there something i need to do to get the emulator to recognize it or what? also, i was really confused by the xbins program, i downloaded it and it came up but i wasnt sure what to do from there.

I can only help you with your xbins prob, I play my games off the hardrive so someone else can help you with that. blink.gif
So you say your confused? with what!
Download it then run it.
A bunch of green letters will pop up thats the app tryin to connect/it automattically makes up a name blah blah
once those green letters go way a window pops up the left side of it is your computer(pick a place to transfer the files you want/I use documents/pictures doesnt really matter)
On the right side is the xbins files..there will be 2 folders xbox console & xbox360
double click xbox cosole enter it and go into applications then emulators then look for a folder called snes go into it and look for Zsnes 3.5..thats it just drag it to the left side and it will download any file you want..look around there are a bunch of things at xbins/game mods/hombrew games/emus/dashboards.blah blah..."No roms"

Oh by the I'm having trouble getting into xbins right now as we speak It keeps failing, mabey thats why your confused cause its not connecting. give it acouple of tries it usually works if not just wait a day.

seriously man use google it's not a hard process at all... people (as in people i mean me and assume others) don't like being asked for help when it doesn't seem like the person is using any common sense... im just saying...

download the emulator (preferably from xbins)
put onto xbox (by ripping disc or ftp i prefer ftp)
transfer ur roms from your old emulator to the new one or your new roms you downloaded, to the emulator (roms folder)
select the program in ur dash and ur done!

Yeah, thats what xbins was doing for me yesterday, ill try it again today, thanks.
I've tried searching on google and on this site and cant find anything to help me. I understand the whole process you laid out. Im just having trouble with the burning process. I've wasted about 5 dvds and i cant get the xbox to read the disc. i know im doing something wrong. I just need a step by step on how to burn the roms to disc and then get it to read on the xbox.

serously man... much less work just figuring out how to put a bigger hard drive in your box.  go to newegg.com and you can get a big HD for 50 or 60 bucks.  180.00 buys you a 1 TB hd.   I'm waiting for the price to come down and I'm putting one in my box to replace the 500 GB.

Screw DVDs.  What a pain in the ass, especially if you want to change something and you have to use another DVD to burn the changes.

Plus you can't use any of the video/artwork previews with only 8GB.  My SNES emu alone is over 11.5 GB now, not including the roms.

you don't even need a new hdd do you man? you implied in your first post that your xbox was modded and had a snes emulator that was supposed to work, but just didn't... this implies that you already had all the roms and therefore all the space you would need... screw buying a new hdd in this case, go out and buy a freaking crossover cable (10-15$ US) and learn to ftp (10min of your time). And reinstall and that's that. seriously.

furthermore, if you still want to go the route of the dvd thing... there is this thread called "the great emulation answer thread: read here first..." It's even pinned... heck man it's even been linked in your own thread directed at you... and I just looked and personally just found tutorials on how to do what you propose so just do it man. I highly doubt anyone here is about to write you a "step by step" tutorial for you, it's already been done countless times before.

That sounds like your hard drive is full.  It does that to me when I get full up too.  It's as if it copies an empty ghost of the files that it tried to start but ran out of space.

I couldn't figure out why my SNES emu was crashing when I got to certain games when I was testing previews.  It wasn't till a little while later that I figured out that I had about 100 videos that transfered over as 0.0 bytes and when the emu was calling them to display it crashed.

Check your hard drive size.  I bet you're almost out of room.

My bad nicsc07.... guess I diddn't read your first post well enough.  If you're doing it from a disk it's probably not the space issue.  I'm sorry, but I can't help at all since I've never burned a disk for use with the Box.

Good luck,

I'm confused now.  Are you using a DVD or the HD?

new set of roms doesnt show up at all but in file explorer, its showing that the files are actually there. any idea whats going on?

The answer

QUOTE

A: You didn't make an XISO of the roms before
burning the disc.

I made an ISO file but my burning program wouldnt let me burn it. do i burn it as a data project?

An ISO is not an XISO. You have to get a program that will create an XISO. Then use a virtual drive program. Then pick any DVD burning program and do a disc to disc copy. Windows will not recognize a Disc in XISO format, but a DVD burning program will.

A normal ISO on a PC is in ISO 9660 format. ZsnexBox cannot read a disc unless it was created from an XISO. Howver, an Xbox dashboard file explorer can read  both formats. That is why all your roms showed up in the file explorer.

The simplest solution to your problem is to copy the roms from the  DVD (with a file explorer in evox, unleashx, etc...) to the ZsnexBox ROMs folder.

Ok, let me get this straight, i downloaded new roms, now i use qwix and click create ISO? or is there something else I do to create an XISO? After that, I use a virtual drive (which one should I get?) and mount the image of the XISO to the virtual drive and then copy that to a DVD on my burning program?

Again, why don't you just transfer the files from your iso to the roms folder of your emulator? you said it shows up in the file explorer, so just transfer them... that's why the file explorer has two sides, open the directory of the iso on one side and the directory to the roms folder of the emulator on the other, bring up the menu and select copy to transfer everything... it's that easy, just like NES said.

You would of figured it out about 10-15 post ago when I told you!...
If there on your Hardrive zip them up seperatly, It will save you HD Space.
cool.gif

Edit: to change the buttons for your liking on any emulator, go to configuration, "CONTROLLER CONFIGURATION", the controller 1, then go into change joypad mappings and mess around with those to things i  there. Its very easy you figure it out..try different combos to see what feels better during gameplay

Thanks ultimate, your the man. I am still looking to download a few snes roms that i dont have but i still havent figured out that whole burning to disc thing. I know that ftp would be easier but i dont have the necessary equipment to do that. After I download the roms, do I have xiso them or zip them first? And do I burn them as a data disc?
