Advancements On Cps3 Emulation
« Reply #60 on: August 23, 2007, 04:52:00 PM »

It works pretty well for all the games. I just noticed some a little bit of slowdown on one of the levels of warzard but the Street Fighter IIIs work perfectly from what I can tell. The Jojos seem to run pretty well. Its an incredible first release. And I remember all the naysayers saying it was impossible to emulate cps3 on the xbox...

3. 3 Menu “Options”

Through this menu we can form the emulator to our ill, counting on the following sections:

Emulator

Video

Audio

Within the submenu “Emulator” we have two options:

Framerate show

Frameskip

The first option shows in screen the rate of photograms per second (FPS) which is working CPX3 at any moment. This single option must be activated to make comparative tests and of speed, since the global yield consumes cycles of the CPU slightly reducing.

“Frameskip” however allows to make a jump in the drawn one of photograms to obtain but speed… this section is configfurable from “Car” (the emulator chooses the best jump of photograms at every moment), “0”… to “10”. A value, for example, of 8 means that single will be a picture of animation of each 8, increasing the speed but losing the fluidity of the image. Car” or “0” for all the games is recommended to use values “.

Within the submenu “Video” we have the following elements:

Position horizontal

Position vertical

Overscan Compensation

Graphics Filter

Flicker Filter

The two first options allow to move the image by the screen to avoid the lost one of a region in case of not being correctly, the values can above be formed so much of positive form as negative for the opposite direction (, down; left, right).

“Overscan Compensation” however allows to make but the image small to fit it to the size of the screen.

“Graphics Filter” applies a smooth filter to the image (Anti Aliassing) that disguises the original pixelado one of the games given the low resolution available in CPS3. The use of this filter does not repel in the yield of the games.

The “Flicker Filter” is a system with five levels of intensity that smooths the refreshment of the image to obtain a greater clearness in the image. This single system is valid when the configuration of the video of the Xbox “is interlaced”. In “progressive” ways (480p) it does not have any utility.

Within “the Audio” submenu we have the following elements:

Inable Sound

Volume

The section “Inable Sound” allows to activate or to deactivate the sonorous emulation of CPS3, in case of deactivating it the emulation of the games increases of speed.

And on the other hand “Volume” allows to form the level of volume of the games, is not something that has greater explanation.

3. 4 Section “About”

It shows the credits of the emulator.

4. FREQUENT QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

P: Game does not work in my console that happens?
R: It verifies that you have the images ROM and CHD in its corresponding directories, and who in the case of the ROMs are all compressed in .zip with the corresponding name.

CPX3 will inform you into which archives lack or are incorrect when trying to load a game.

P: Sometimes entrecorta the sound. Can be solved?
R: Lamentably no. Since I have already commented the emulation requires but power of which Xbox can facilitate at some moments and for that reason ralentizaciones and cuts in the sound take place. Perhaps in future versions it is possible to be solved, that know…

P: My Xbox does not load the emulator when I introduce my DVD.
R: As I already commented CPX3 does not work from the DVD unit, you will have to copy the archives to the hard disk so and as it is explained in the manual. By all means your console must be modified previously to be able to load software without the digital company/signature of Microsoft.

P: I can personalize the interface?
R: CPX3 does not include support for skins. Despite all the parameters of the interface they are gathered in the file “GUI.XML” that is in the directory “GUI” of the emulator. You can publish it to your ill… In addition all the images are in format .PNG reason why they can be published with any program of graphical design.

P: Some graphs appear with the altered or rare colors…
R: There are problems with the transparencies, in future versions will be corrected in the greater measurement than it is possible.

P: Where I can unload the games?
R: That you I cannot say, because he is illegal… if you have your own CPS3 in house you can dumpear you yourself the archives In another case you will have to make use of your capacities of investigation

P: When the next version is published? That changes will bring? Funcionará better?
R: The new versions will leave when ElSemi creates it advisable, and with the changes that decide to incorporate…

******************************************************************************

Before this gets out of hand:

DO NOT ASK WHERE TO DOWNLOAD EMULATORS HERE. (built with XDK)

IF IT IS NOT ON #XBINS, THEN YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN.

ASK and have your account MUTED, and potentially BANNED.

You have been warned.......................

VampX, since this thread was bumped for some inexplicable reason, I will take the opportunity to compliment you on your classy avatar.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)   I always wanted to, but never got the chance.

Jeez Vamp, you're still here!?

This place feels so depressing now compared to the old days. I mean over in the XPort forums we have about 5 threads devoted to a new skin for goodness sake! (I know there's more to it but I can't figure out exactly what and can't be bothered to read 30+ pages to find out)

Seems those devs started slacking without me around to crack the whip.

Where's lantus, XPort, GogoAckman (wait, maybe scratch that last one  wink.gif )?? I'm gonna hunt them down and kick their arses so hard for abandoning us!

Ha ha. Those guys retired/get tired years ago, but fortunately there's some new triers, who are still keeping the stuff breathing. The love is still here I could say..

I chose Ukyo because i think he's one of the coolest Samurai Shodown guys,
that and our hair is the same length.  biggrin.gif

Yeah i like this place, but like you said its gotten eerily quiet here, kinda like a ghost town.
but i like westerns so it all works out tongue.gif

but yeah i still come here now and then, Its not my main forum anymore but the interest is still there.
(though i never got the one thing for xbox that i truly wanted, a Do It Yourself 2D fighting engine that actually works without having to resort to linux)
(also a good ps1 emu would have been nice)

and what are you up to these days?
