Dont Have Permission To Write?
« on: January 24, 2004, 08:28:00 PM »

I am in the process of installing a new hard drive.  I could not get it to boot from cd untill i read a post that said try all jumper settigs so i did, and i got it working on master.  It is a maxtor 40gig.  Once i got it booted and got it connected to router i connected to it using cuteFTP.  When i tried to put the files i had downloaed off my last hdd it wrote some of them but then gave me "you dont have permission to write" error on the rest of the files, including the Audio folder.   Any suggestions, i tried to be as detailed as possible, but if you need anymore infro from me, just let me know.

Well it may be that you are trying to send files with filenames that are illegal on the xbox filesyste. If the total filename consists of more than 32 chars or you use illegal chars (I've found that anything other than AlphaNumeric, dash's, periods, apostrophes, and parentheses; are not allowed on the Xbox filesystem and will give that error you describe. So if your filename has german umlauts or anything that is not accepted .. hope this helps ..
