It is written to wherever your sram path is set at in the path.ini. It is only created for games that had sram and it is is only written when the game is exited (i.e click the right thumbstick to go to the in game menu).

Yes thanks for all the stolen code and never releasing it until the last minute, and thanks for violating our license by putting in code that was not GPL compatible and from other emulators and generally making our source a complete mess it will never be put in the main tree.

If you shared your code while you were developing it you wouldn't have screwed all the xbox people like this.

zsnesxbox is an insult to the project, I don't even want the zsnes name in it anywhere.

I don't speak for him, but don't be sour because nes6502 released something usable, fun and reliable out of your code.  I used to love ZSNES but since it's left _Demo_'s and zsknight's hands, every time one thing gets fixed ten others break.  Get off your high horse, by its very nature your emulator encourages "theft", considering Nintendo has a viable and successful business model where they now make $8 from every SNES game.  You're basically enabling people to take money out of their pockets, so your complaints about a project that was developed out of respect and demand for your work to be seen on the XBox rings hollow.  No one is making any money off of this.

I sense some sarcasm.

We don't condone the use of commercial roms you don't own. If you own the cart you are entitled under copyright law to use it in an emulator.

edit:

We complain because the source is a complete joke and makes ZSNES look bad because it's based on code that is almost 1 year old and is full of hacks that we would never have put in. It is not ZSNES so you can't call it that. You can do what you want with the source but you have to agree with the license rules and point out that you have forked our code and has no relationship to the original product. You also need to give the original authors credit for their work.

God... not another one of these developer spats  rolleyes.gif

The source has been released, and Zsnexbox works fantastically.  Just about everyone loves it.  Personally, I don't give a sh!t if 'hacks' are in the code, just as long as the games play well... and they do.  I'll never understand why developers release their code and they whine when someone actually does something with it.  Zsnexbox is easily one of the best emulators on the XBox, but instead of being proud of that you are whining. Whatever.  If it's so messed up why don't you make a port and show us how it should be?  We always welcome new emulators.

Proud isn't the word. But if you want to use it and think it's good thats none of my business. The next PC version will make it obsolete though.

The idea was we would get a copy of the xbox sources and maintain the emulation side of them so it would stay up to date. I even made sure the new code worked on the specs of an xbox for that purpose but that never happenend. Otherwise you would be getting the same updates as the next release of the PC version which includes a new CPU core and SPC/DSP core with many compatibility fixes.

The whole approach was done wrong, thats is our feeling. I am sure you end users are happy with it but it is an internal mess.

I agree, I am not here to start a flame war. I think there was some misunderstanding. Perhaps my first post was too harsh. Zsnexbox works well on the console but there are a lot of issues on it that are not it's fault and we are unable to update them. The problem is they come to us to get fixes and we can't do anything to help them. Bottom line is we are really getting tired of it, I am sure you can relate to that.

We have the source now but to salvage anything from it would be extremely hard. We have had a linux xbox version in development for a while now as a legal alternative to zsnexbox (we are not competing). Some people just prefer that.

What I am trying to say here is if we had the source (which we requested many times) during development it would have been better than it is now.

nes6502 did a good job with the interface but the code used to "glue" it to zsnes is very messy and I am sure he agrees with me on this.

I want a peaceful resolution to this. I don't want to start some stupid war with the xbox people. And flaming posts like the previous one are really not helping. We want to support xbox but we need help with it.

I am not ignorant I have been following the port from day 1, I am not complaining about the source I was complaining about the way it was released, it was not done the way the license states. We give out free source in an attempt to get something back. Thats the whole idea behind open source. Legally every release of it should have had source with it.

I am going to admit that both sides had problems and I would like to put this behind but I wanted to raise the issue and inform people. If you never do that then people will think it's ok to just take things. In this case it doesn't really bother me much but if another company did it and tried to make a profit off it then it would be a different story.

I will look at his source again and see what I can do about integrating it with our latest work and you may still see a 3.1 or whatever the versions are if no one else is interested in taking up the project. I do use this thing as well...

Our xbox version is not supposed to compete with this, it's for people who want to run xbox linux and use zsnes, thats all.

quickly removed

If you wish to talk further about this with me, I suggest we do it in private page but I'd rather just be done.
