Also, I do seem to remember Nach saying something in the vein of not caring about when the public will see the source because Nach isn't the public.
That's exactly what nach said. He also said in private messages that it was fine if I waited until I was done as long as I just didn't "disappear". I think I've been anything but "elusive" over the last year. I also gave him a tentative source release date of around January with the provision that I was finished. I also noticed he sent me a PM in January asking for the source. I didn't get that PM until today since I guess I missed the email notification. I would have sent him the source back in january if i had gotten the message. I don't really frequent the ZNES board since they deleted my ZsnexBox announcement thread.
Other than the PM I just got today, I havn't heard anything from the ZSNES team in 8 months, so I am pretty suprised that they are so bitter. They should have contacted me a long time ago if they were becoming impatient or if they wanted an update on the status. Especially since we agreed on a tentative release a long time ago. After all, I was doing this as a favor to them, and yet they treat me as if I'm some "rogue developer" trying to abuse the GPL.

From my understanding,
pagefault is bitter because he'd like
nes6502's Source Code so he can see how he went about adding speed optimizations to zsnes, according to his post in
this thread.
There are no speed optimizations added to ZsnexBox for emulation. In fact, there is virtually no changes to ZSNES code at all (other than winlink.cpp replacing Directdraw code with Direct3D code). 99% of this port is new code (like the GUI, cheat system, rumbles, lightgun, etc..) that are totally separate modules that use ZSNES variables/memory buffers for source info. In fact, ZsnexBox is nothing more than Genadrive with PicoDrive removed and Zsnes in it's place. Then a total face lift and new features (95% being GUI related). There's nothing magical about any of it.

Am I right to assume the zsnes source is now closed?
Absolutly not. I've made it clear from day one I was going to release the source when it was better structured. I could care less if the source was released today, but I was trying to make life easier on future developers (it's an absolute MESS). But if the devs don't want to wait any longer, I have no problems with an immediate source release. It doesn't bother me one way or the other.
So, Ladies and Gentlemen, stay tuned for a full source release in the next day or so.
