ZsnexBox 2.99b2

What's new:

-Added a virtual keyboard that can be used to enter and edit Pro Action Replay, Game Genie, Cheat Search, and Rumble descriptions.

Install:

Extract and copy over to your Xbox hard drive. Run "default.xbe" to start.

If you want to run from the DVD, then you must edit the Path.ini to reflect where on your Xbox the needed directories are. They MUST exist on your Xbox (i.e. you must create them) or ZsnexBox will hang when it loads.

Note:

I had planned to add an image viewer for this release (and much of the code is done), but it's proving to be much more involved than I had previously imagined. It will be in the next beta. However, I had some free time this past weekend and added the virtual keyboard. I've allready gotten a lot of use out of it, so I thought others might like to use it now instead of waiting until I had more new features in place.

More will come later...

Does this version have those new skins that were posted a little while ago?

Thanks, NES. I'm usually just lurking around here but I must give props to you and everyone else who has ported games or made emulators that are on my box.  I actually sold my SNES once you added the rumble function to this fine emulator, and you just keep making it better. Once again, Thanks (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

How about netplay? Or so that you could play against others online. I usually play against my friends with Zsnes on PC, but it would be more comfortable on a tv and with a controller. smile.gif

This is fantastic. Thanks so much for all your hard work.

I had an idea for a fantastic thing you can do, if it is even possible (probably not). I recently compared A Link to the Past on the Virtual Console of my Wii with my XBox and ZSNES that you created. I noticed that the Virtual console produced a much much nicer image, when compared to even the nicest, sharpest picture on the XBox settings in ZSNES. I have read this is because the Virtual Console supports SNES's original resolution which is why it looks so perfect. Is there any way for your emulator to output at the SNES's resolution?

Not sure what nintendo is doing to the image. From my understanding the Wii cannot display a resolution less than 480i (640x480 interlaced). This is the same as the Xbox, but I'm allways open to suggestions on ways to improve image quality. MY guess is they are doing the same thing I am doing (rendering to a texture and "fitting it" to the screen. Can you also resize the image on the Wii? If so, then I would say that is exactly what they are doing. So if anyone has any deas (other than hacking into the internals of the Xbox GPU), I'm all ears.

Also, how are you using it in ZsnexBox. Do you mean a Superscale2x + Flicker Filter of 0 + Soften off + Bilinear filtering is not as good as what the Wii outputs? If that is the case, then I'm definatly interested in what they are doing. This is (to me anyway) far superior than even what the real SNES can output.

Great Snes emulator. Keep them coming. biggrin.gif

How about add record input feature- best as is in FBAX (file is very small and you can have lots of them).
Be great to record play of Contra, Assault Suit Valken,Axelay,Castlevania or any good action games on Snes
and maybe share them biggrin.gif

Whoa WHOA!!!!!!!

I go offline for a few days, come back to look at x-s news and THIS! I was shocked in a truly pleasant way.

This emulator has achieved ABSOLUTE perfection in my opinion!

Beautiful, Nes. Just beautiful.

Now on top of the most innovative and sharp graphics features, the coolest features,  the best speed and style, and the GUI that's most individual from all the other emulators, a code finder and even text files, we now have the easy and quick ability to type whatever descriptions we want to these wondrous things. Thank you. You just can't beat that kind of convenience and power in a homebrew app or any emu, really. I can truly say that I find this a much more tweakable and dynamic experience than any emu I've ever played on a computer or xbox, and that's absolutely beautiful.

A thousand personal thank yous!

To me, and I don't know how many others, this now has absolutely everything, and we truly appreciate your hard work and perfectionism!
