Flashing Tsop With X2.2 Lite
« Reply #15 on: September 18, 2003, 10:35:00 AM »

I just tried the D6 tsop on a 1mb Xecuter 2.0 lite - phew thankfully not my tsop....

same here - black screen no video/audio

sod the new bios stuff - just recovered my tsop with homebrew after a bad 4978 flash a few weeks back

think the old D6 eject or X2 4976/77 for me unless some some super duper bios works well on my lpc mods, then I might think about playing with my tsop again

Are you disabling the modchip (open d0) 1-2 seconds after power on?

ergh yeah i do read very much indeed......

bloomin' strange that so many many peeps can't revive a shagged tsop with a lpc mod - though the tutorials say that a matrix can do it due to using modes 4 & 3

in fact many more peeps say you can't do it with non-matrix lpc mods due to the fact the lpc simply takes over when it boots/D0 grounded

a few weeks back when I hosed my tsop I read and tried and read and tried loads of methods on cheapmods/X2.x's - different bios's including the matrix tsop bios on my other cheapmods/lpc mods too

heck even an open bioxx was wired in but nope couldn't get evox to say it was gonna detect n flash a ST 1mb tsop
yes there is another tutorial about reviving tsop with lpc mod - but so so many peeps haven't been able to get it to work either - which indicates that if it does work then the timing of the mod disable must be impossible to judge

even tried grounding the T15 connection briefly but evox did not detect the 1mb ST bios on my ver 1.0 tsop - which still had the tsop points bridged before anyone asks

Thought I'd try the X2.2 lite again like you said - maybe coz it has it's own LFRAME for 1.3's that maybe it could do what so many mods & modders have failed to do - yes I tried the tsop D6 coz isn't that what it was made for they say

If the D6 ef one worked so well why would they bring out a tsop one ?????

If these D6's work so well then we should see many many more peeps have success in bringing their shagged tsop's back to life but as of yet I see more problem posts than success posts

but I must be a complete noob at this - hmmmm

my previous tsop's were done by:

messiah-x for the first 4 or 5 ver 1.0's ST tsop's I did

raincoat 0.5 for winbond and ST 1.2/3's + a couple of 1.0 ST's and 1 hynix ver 1.0

then used 007 evox for last lot of ST ver 1.0's and 1.2/3's I did

(what about ver 1.1's? - well I just use a load of cheapmods/xpert lite's I got lying around rather than tsop - 1.2's were tsop'd coz there was/is some difference of opinion that some 30xx ver 1.2's are in fact 1.3's when working cheapmods don't work on the header pins - where as a x2.2 lite will work - thus a 256kb tsop flash to ensure it will work no matter what)

In the end to get the hosed tsop working again I bought and programmed the homebrew myself under evox on another ver 1.0 xbox.....

this ver 1.0 xbox has 2 switches fitted btw

1 switch controls the power from pin 32 to mobo & link wire 32

the other switch is connected to pins 13 & 16 of the homebrew's flashrom socket
(which is Alt D0 & Ground)

so yes I have a switch for LPC mods

In fact I have - hanging out of side my ver 1.0 mobo

header pins - connected to mobo by about 5 inches or wires, this way I can easily hot-swap and reflash any lpc mod

homebrew flashrom socket - still connected to mobo but has switch for pin 32 and the socket is a special eject lever type so I can and have prgrammed a 2nd homebrew chip under evox

and on the tsop is a standard D6 eject fix 1mb bios as the D6 seems to better booting and new unpartioned drive using an evox cd/slayer install

but hey - I gotta be doing something wrong like you say so

if you got it to work then I reckon you was fortunate with any timing issues on switching mod on then off very quickly
But I will remain in 2 minds over this lpc/tsop flash success - I will give it another go again later today though

In the mean time - if you manage to revive a completely hosed tsop with your method then by all means let us know - as this would be the real test that it works.

I am wondering if the tsop had a retail bios on it or something else or in other words was the tsop really flashed or the X2.2 lite, and that the tsop may have already had been flashed - before anyone says the tsop points weren't bridged, that means jack squat coz I have recently done a ver 1.0 and a 1.3 without using the convential tsop points so the mobo looks completely untouched

like I say, when a few more peeps post their joy as they easily recover a nuked tsop from a LPC mod & this normal D6 ef bios - then I may accept that it does work like you said

sorry if i seem to be anal but I don't think this topic was about reviving a hosed tsop .. it was just about flashing the TSOP with an X2.2 Lite .. = the modchip description on this site does say it is possible .. and it is.

ergh - excuse me a sec....

SHOULDN'T MATTER - IT'S THE SAME THING ISN'T IT ???

if you COULD boot up using a lpc mod and flash the tsop then the you should be able to revive a hosed tsop the same way as you wouldn't be booting from tsop but lpc mod

well that is how the homebrew works - you can leave it in and just use that mod or diable/remove homebrew after it boots and reflash/revive a hosed tsop - coz I have done it and I know the thing works

so I stand by what I said:

If you ever manage to recover a hosed tsop using your X2.2 lite then that would prove you actually got the tsop flashed from a lpc mod

I thought the tutorial - well the one I saw about using a lpc to flash a tsop, mentioned not only turning off the lpc mod very quickly but also grounding the T15 connection as per the using matrix tsop bios......

so you have managed to use an ordinary bios and not need to ground T15 like that lpc tutorial and the matrix tsop recovery said ?

WOW YOU MUST WALK ON WATER - as you have found an easier way to flash tsop's
(shame you seem to be the only one walking on water atm coz everyone else is say it don't work)

like I say if your method works so well then a little tsop recovery would work perfectly as well wouldn't it as evox will flash a hosed or a working tsop as long as you can get it up n running. The only problem is LPC just takes over and tsop isn't available under normal conditions

when you have recovered a tsop please let me know

until then I will just say you was very very fortunate if it did work the way you said

Gee I don't know. I've never flashed my TSOP before. Though this sounds very interesting. So disable the mod chip just BEFORE the evolution x dashboard loads then. Sounds fun. I have an Xecutor 2.1 Lite on a 1.1 Xbox will all be ok using the described method. The Xecutor 2.1 Lite currently has 4978.03 and Gentoox bios on it though. You mentioned Evox D6 EF for best results or somthing. I'm really looking forward to flashing my TSOP this way. BTW my TSOP brand is a Hynx.
