Zsnes 1.5 Out
« on: December 22, 2006, 11:11:00 AM »

Well here it is, a brand new ZSNES point release, almost 2 years after the last one, 1.42.

Changelog WAY too long to post here, but go read it while it's hot

http://www.zsnes.com/index.php?page=news

And here's the announcment on there boards, so go ahead and congratulate them.

http://board.zsnes.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=9171

On the game-specific side of things,
Star Fox 2 now works, Super Metroid is shiny and improved with no line bugs and whatnot, also all hacks (like redesign) work.
Top Gear 3000 of course works, i think they also fixed some glitches with it's savestates recently.

Now as far as xbox is concerned, this release is an improvment but not that far out from the WIP build Zsnexbox used early on. Still i thought it was worth noting, and nes6502, if you get some free time and stumble onto this, i wouldn't mind hearing what you think of it and what you plan to do with it =].

Cool stuff, a new Zsnes. Not that I play SNES games that much but a nice addition to my PC emulator collection.

I didn't even notice the super metroid bugs on the latest zsnexbox. None of these bug fixes affect me at all, as far as i am concerned nes has made a perfect port of a practically perfect emulator and i would not mind at all if there was no newer versions as this one already feels complete.

Super Aleste doesn't work that well, but I dunno if it works better on ZSnes 1.5 either.

Super Aleste is the same game as Space Megaforce.
I've completed Space Megaforce without any problems with ZsnexBox.

I actually played Space Megaforce for good while and I didn't notice anyything wrong with it. It seemed to be running perfectly (audio and video) to me. What specifically was wrong?

Yeah, it says that you've never played one of the very few SNES games worth playing. Way to go.

Me too but there are some graphic glitches, like in that underground level with falling boulders, the walls during the boss fight are glitchy. The intro is also a bit glitchy, nothing that stops you from playing and finishing the game but hardly perfect. Of course one can argue that the game music is far worse than enduring any graphic glitches but that's another story isn't it? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Sorry dude but I don't play countless Mario games nor unbelivably long RPG with a cliche stories and most Nintendo franchises just bore the hell out of me, exceptions go to Chrono Trigger and Super Metroid, good games indeed.

You hate everything and nothing is ever good enough for you, not too surprising.

Ok. So you're just a casual gamer (since no true gamer, or gamer alive in the SNES era would make a statement like that). Nothing wrong with that.

You like simple mindless button mashers with no depth (like Super Aleste). Nothing wrong with that either.

Nintendo franchises on the SNES represent some of the very best gaming had to offer from the 90's. You're probablly too young and your idea of "retro" gaming is the playstation. That's a shame since the Final Fantasy SNES games (especially 3) far surpass even Chrono Trigger in my book.

No dude, I'm just european. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Unlike in USA, in Europe Nintendo never had the strong influence it had in USA, and in Portugal (thank god) it had none, zero, nada. It has nearly impossible to find a Nintendo branded thing even in late nineties, it was easier to find 32X games! For cring out loud, Sega Saturn was this close to pawn Sony Playstation in this country. If Sega Saturn just had more support even PSX would've meet sales oblivion... I blame Sega Japan on this one since Sega Portugal did an astounishing job eliminating pretty much everything that wasn't Sega. To see how far this went, I've never played a Nintendo game 'till 2002 when I first got Zsnes to play Chrono Cross and you may bet that many people in Portugal never touched anything Nintendo except a Gameboy since those who haven't sticked to their Megadrives understandably jumped on the PSX boat. The first, the only and the last Nintendo console I owned was a Gamecube that I bought this summer only because it was at 49€ including a memory card and a game....... sold if after 1 month, worst spent money on my live, never again will that happen.

BTW my idea of retro is Master System and Spectrum ZX (yes I had one) since I played Megadrive 'till late '99 when my console died. Then I jumped on the dreamcast boat, f*ck Sony too, I never owned anything by them too (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

May oldskool Sega live forever! Swallow yer Nintendo pride. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/muhaha.gif)

It's goth rage emo for you, and your talk distracted me while I was making up! Now I have black lipstick on my chin covering my satanic tatoo...... I'll just have to cut myself to relief me of my anger, way to go dude. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Really? Well here in Spain (we are european too) Snes was a great success in fact most of my friends who had a 16 bits console had a snes, gb was the most common handheld console, and there were nes clones everywhere. Of course sega had a great part of the market , maybe 40% sega 50% nintendo and the other 10% was a mix of other systems like pce, neogeo and other.

btw for me zsnexbox quality is so high that it can hardly be improved, only updates to the core that fixes minor glitches and improves compatibility can make it better. I hope 1.50 core could be used for next versions smile.gif

A++ for nes6502´s job  love.gif
