Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but a search turned up nothing and the FAQ threads are no help either.
Program just freezes, I go through my launch menu under apps, go to Zsnexbox, select it, the evolution loading screen comes up and the xbox is totally frozen.
Any help?

First and foremost, exceptional work nes, I appreciate the hardwork you put in to this emulator. I even moved my save file for Secret of Evermore from xsnes9x to Zsnexbox 2.99. If your going to go through the pain of another release wink.gif then I noticed the following:

Savestates
When playing Secret of Evermore (Europe), I noticed that when saving state the on screen text did not reflect the bank in which the save was made. E.g. savestate to slot 4, and onscreen it would say it saved to slot "0". I know it's a really small thing and it in no affects my enjoyment of this fine emulator.

Kind regards,

Yeah, that's just the way it works. Having multiple savestates is really just some trickery I do. ZSNES thinks it's saving to slot 0, but I re route it somewhere else. This way I am not limited to how many slots ZSNES supports. I could add 100 savestates per game, but everyone seems to be happy with having the default of 10.

It may be an evox issue. Some people have trouble loading some apps using evox. I reccomend UnleashX anyway as it's 1000 times more feature rich than evox. Otherwise, if that's not it, it sounds like you incrorrectly edited the Path.ini or the folders in the Path.ini don't exist on your Xbox.

Dear Nes6502,

After upgrading to 2.99 (Finally I had the time to perform all the
screenshot renaming to have a solid artwork folder) I noticed strange
behavior on this version --- things that did not happen in 2.96 (the
last one I was using).

1. If you use SIMPLE 2X the text fonts (japanese kanji) in Seiken Densetsu 3 (J)
became garbaged. If I change from SIMPLE 2 X to point, it's fine.
It's not really a problem, but it is something that differs from 2.96.

2. Few game I tried while using the NEW GFX ENGINE presented problems.
Sonic Wings (J) has its BACKGROUND LAYER 2 completely inverted (negative colors).
Sutte Hakkun (J) (NP) also presents the same behavior when I press the L or R
button to move the screen around. After fe tried I saw that turning OFF the new gfx
engine and turning ON the old engine cured this two problems.

Please take a look on this subjects.

I will tests more games today. Yesterday it was 03:20 AM and I was
totally nemui!

First off, this is a great program when I launch off the harddrive.. Currently use XBMC as my dashboard... I have no problems launching this directly off the harddrive, however, i'm having problems trying to get this load from an XISO DVD I made... Need some help..

I didn't screw with any of the files just put some roms in the rom folder, created the XISO using Qwix, and burned. When I try to boot off it, I just get a black screen.. Nothing else. When I hit the eject button (after a good wait) it just reboots..

Anyone have any ideas? solutions?

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

If you want to run it from a DVD, I would change the Path.ini to this:

E:\SAVES\ZsnexBox\artwork\Shots 1\
E:\SAVES\ZsnexBox\artwork\Shots 2\
E:\SAVES\ZsnexBox\artwork\Shots 3\
E:\SAVES\ZsnexBox\artwork\Shots 4\
E:\SAVES\ZsnexBox\artwork\Shots 5\
E:\SAVES\ZsnexBox\artwork\Shots 6\
E:\SAVES\ZsnexBox\artwork\Shots 7\
E:\SAVES\ZsnexBox\artwork\Shots 8\
E:\SAVES\Zsnexbox\sram\
E:\SAVES\Zsnexbox\save\
E:\SAVES\ZsnexBox\ini\
E:\SAVES\ZsnexBox\rumble\
E:\SAVES\Zsnexbox\cheats\
E:\SAVES\ZsnexBox\garbage\
D:\roms\

You can also replace the "E:\" with "F:\" or "G:\" in the above paths.

Almost all of the directories in the Path.ini must be on the hard drive because this is where cheats, rumbles, previews, ini files, etc... are written. All of the above folders must exist before launching the default.xbe. The reason it failed before is because your ini path was set to the DVD drive. It tried to write the ini to the DVD and failed. This caused the crash.

The "D:\roms\" is the only path that is safe to make relative when running from a DVD.

I just changed from using xSNES9x and am having some difficulty running Kirby's Avalanche.

Whenever I start the ROM it comes up with the 2 start screens twice (one nintendo and one some other credits), then it freezes and says "SPC700 Stall Detected".

I searched around and found some information to suggest this is caused by a corrupted ROM but I downloaded several versions and they all did the same thing. Furthermore the ROM used to work fine with xSNES9x. The release notes mention something about this being implemented a while back but I can't find too much more information about it. Is there anything I am doing wrong?

no, this game and the other puyo ones don't work with this build, you'll have to use an earlier version to get them to work, or use xsnes9x for these games.

Excuse my ignorance but how come? More specifically is this something that is likely to change?

If so I can probably wait, otherwise I will reinstall xsnes9x.

Do what you want to.
You're not going to hurt anyone by uninstalling zsnexbox over a couple of games. But you will show that you don't understand quality and enjoy spazzing.
If you like overall higher quality for most of your games, use zsnexbox most of the time, and put the other 2 games on xsnes9x.
If you don't care about quality and just want to play those 2 games, then go ahead and switch back if that's what you choose.
The computer versions of Snes9x and ZSNES have different games each can't play. The xbox emus are ports of the exact same thing, with the same tiny limitations. (Of each not being able to play a few measely games.)

Thank you for such a great program!

However, a question: is savestate the only way to save your game? I expected to be able to save my game from within the game, turn off my console, come back and load my save game. But no luck. I turned the console back on, loaded the game, and I had no saved games to load.

I tried reading the FAQ for a clue to the solution but the only question that comes close is the one about periods in ROM names and that is in regard to save states. I tried looking in the save and roms directories but didn't find any files that looked like savegames.

Any suggestions? Or do I have to just get used to using the savestates? Thanks.

You are talking about SRAM (the SNES way to save games using a battery). And yes, it's supported. SRM  files are created for any game that used this way to save (Like Zelda 3 or Super Metroid for example).

However, they are only written to the Xbox hard drive when you exit a game (click the right thumbstick once). So every time you save in the game click the right thumbstick to exit to the in game menu. The SRAM file will be saved. Then just hit "B" to return to the game and continue playing.

If you just cut off the Xbox. The SRAM will never be written and the progress will be lost.
