Ah makes sense. The only one I ever usually change from default is Display Zipfile Contents. I really like this option. I think it's one that people would leave set, as its nice to see the full title of the longer named roms that have truncated zip names.

Thanks for all your continued hard work on this great emu btw.

Indeed some of the HQ boxart images are quite large.  The smaller ones don't lock up so you got my answer nes, thanks.  Rather have more features then hi-res boxart anyday.

The ini files changed, that's why that happened. You'll need to delete the ini from 2.90 and start with the new one generated from 2.96 and setup the screen again.

Well, all of the images in the HQ pack will still look great resized down to 512x512 because most users are running in 480i/p. That resolution is 640 by 480 so you could just about stretch the box art to fill the whole screen and keep the same quality. And since Im sure no user does this, the images will look just as good at the smaller resolution, even if they take up the majority of one side of the screen. The Xbox will allocate as much as 5MB for some of those previews as is (even if they are only 300K in size). So resizing will cut down on the memory usage and fix the potential lockup that can happen.

This is intentional. Most of those are options that the average user will not change except on rare cirumstances. So, I don't save them because I am keeping the inexperienced user in mind.

So the user has to change these each time you start the emulator?  IMO, all options should be saved or they may as well not be options.  I honestly can't see what harm would come from changing those options anyway, so I'm not sure what you are attempting to protect the inexperienced user from doing.

I try to keep some options non saveable. If the inexperienced user changed these by accident, they would reset the next time they load. Some of those are more harmfull than others. For example, lets say the user accidentally sets the region to PAL when all of their roms are NTSC. Then half their roms would never start or be very jerky, and they may have no idea what happened. But the next time they start, the setting goes back to auto and everything works perfect again. And since this is an option, that will be rarely changed, it makes sense to me not to save it.

Another is show zip file contents. It's a nice feature but it can seriously slow the ROM browsing down not to mention constantly stressing the hard drive. I assume (perhaps incorrectly) that most users just turn this on when they need to see what a filename is, but then turn it off.

If I had an option to disable sound or video, I wouldn't save these either for the same reasons.

Disable Key combo is perhaps the only one that probablly needs to be saved in my opinion.

The majority of the features in ZsnexBox are geared towards advanced users. However, a lot of the users are not advanced XBOX apps users. So I try to keep it as "Playable" as possible whether they know what they are doing or not.

I see what you are saying.  I agree with the key combo setting... that is the only setting of those listed that I change myself.

Still don't see 2.96 on xbins...

BTW, I really liked the bg song you had in your original skin. What was the name it? I'm assuming I can find it on overclocked.

Try again. Apparently, it was removed before. I forgot what the name of the song was but I got it at overclocked remix.

It doesn't seem to slow down rombrowsing for me at all tbh. The only time the zip contents are read is when you stop on a rom, so scrolling up and down is unimpeded. I for one would like this option to be saved, as i'd leave it set all the time - it's a cool feature imho (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Why not just assign a button to the functionality instead?

Hum, does ZSNEX have hidden button combinations shortcuts? I think I just stumbled across a Save/Load State ones. I read the FAQ, but it did not make any mention to shortcuts.

Yup.
L trigger + Back = save state
R trigger + Back = Load State.

General Options->Disable Key Combos: On

That will disable them.
