hi, firstly got to say, amazing emulator smile.gif

only thing is, since upgrading to 2.9 and then 2.91, my rom list seems a lot smaller. games which I know are there, like every street fighter (turbo, championship etc) are not there anymore. I have ftp'ed to my xbox to make sure they are all still in the dir and they are. I have around 800 roms in the folder, yet only about 200 are showing up in the rom list.

is there anything I can do to solve this? unsure.gif
Thanks

How are the roms that don't show up named? Can you list a few examples of the files and the complete path to the files on your Xbox?

Like:

F:\Games\SNES\Street Fighter 2.zip

The files have to have an extension. Like SMW.zip or SMW.smc or SMW.swc, etc... If they don't have an extension, then that's why they don't show up.

Hi! Could someone explain me how to set the screen size correctly? Because you see SNES uses 256x224 screen resolution and while the horizontal scaling is easy to set (just fit the sides to the window size) the vertical scaling is tricky, 224 * 2 = 448 lines so there should be two black lines both in the bottom and the top of the screen, yet using the blue lines as guide in the screen scaling option doesn't give you those black borders. In NeoGenesis you can simply set the "Use Genesis aspect ratio" that will force you into the correct ratio but there is no such thing here.

So I ask again, how do I set the correct aspect ratio?
P.S.: I never had a SNES so I don't know how's the screen supposed to look like but I assume it scales the 256 horizontal lines into 320 like Mega Drive and PS1 do and keep the vertical lines intact again like Mega Drive and PS1.

I'm having problems just getting the emulator to boot up...It was a fresh install of the 2.91 version with no previous versions installed. I have the path.ini set as d:\roms at the moment as I have moved them into the zsnex roms folder in the install directory. I have tried them in different places and have tried a backslash at the end and no go. It seems that the emulator should boot even if it can't find any roms but wont. I have read the help topics on this but nothing seems to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

hi matey, you gotta install 2.9 then 2.91 you will see that there are more files in 2.9 which are needed for it to run.

Your Path.ini may be corrupted. I would reccomend starting over from scratch

1) Download 2.9
2) Extract it
3) Download 2.91 and overwrite the files in the 2.9 directory (default.xbe and Path.ini)
4) Put roms in the "roms" folder
5) FTP the entire diectory to your Xbox
5) Run default.xbe

and make sure it works this way before you edit anything. Otherwise, I don't know why it's not working.

Have you tried starting it from another partition? Also, maybe your E partition is corrupted and it crashes when it tries to create te ZsnexBox folder and subfolders. Were they created? You could change the save partition value to F or G in the Path.ini to test this.

Also the original rom path should be:

D:\roms\

otherwise that might be why it's failing to boot but unlikely.

Hi nes6502, you're the one coding Zsnexbox aren't you? Wouldn't you mind to awnser my question about the aspect ratio? It's in this page just a bit up, I really want to know what's the proper aspect ratio.
Is it like I say, the horizontal lines get stretched, and the vertical one remain untouched or squeazed depending on how you have it thus creating black bar on the top and bottom of the screen?

Thanks in advance.

hi nes, I'm guessing that you have taken the support for files without an extension out. Will it be included in future versions? I really like the new features like analog scroll with L + R and alphabetical scrolling with the d-pad, but I have had to go back to a previous version as I have so many roms that it would take a long time to give them all extensions.

Thanks

No, there will not be support for files withoutextensions.

I don't know who in their right mind ever made that goodset that went around without file extensions. I'm guessing that's where your games came from.

Anyway, it's trivial to rename them all.

1) Put all roms that don't have an extension in some folder on your computer. (like C:\SNESROMS
2) Click the start button
3) Click "Run"
4) Type cmd
5) In the command window that opens up  type: cd C:\SNESROMS
6) You arr now in the SNESROMS folder. Type dir to make sure. It will list all the files in the folder.
7) Then just type: ren *.* *.smc

That's all there is to it. If you have 5000 roms without extensions, it will add .smc to the end of all of them.
The whole process takes like 30 seconds.

Then just ftp them back to your Xbox.

Or if you don't want to do that, the best way would be just to zip them all up.

1) Install Winrar
2) Go to the folder where all the roms are
3) Select them all
4) Right click any one on the selected list
5) Choose "Add to archive"
6) In the WinRar window that pops up, select the type to be ZIP (the default will be RAR)
7) Then on like the third tab over there is a checkbox that says "Put each file in a separate archive". Check that.
8) Click Ok

All your roms are now compressed and have a ZIP extension. This way they will take up less space on your Xbox hard drive.

Then just FTP them to the Xbox.

Ok, I followed the steps from your earlier post nes and the emulator still did not boot. So I checked to see if it was creating the files on the E partition, and it was. I thought I would change it to F to see if it made a difference and it created the files once again but still did not boot. I also tried setting the path.ini to D:\roms and D:\roms\ and neither made a difference. So I am unsure as to what the problem is exactly. Other emulators work like surreal, xenesis, fceultra, and even xsnes9x... Any ideas would be much appreciated and thanks so much for all the help thus far.

Honestly, I don't know the answer.

How are you launching the emulator? From what dashboard? Try launching the emulator from UnleashX directly through the file browser.

Are you sure you have all the files? Open up the Metroid.ini on your Xbox and make sure it's complete. Sometimes when I burn CD's the text files get cut off.
