I just purchased an X-arcade machine. It uses MAMEoX to run ROMS off a dvd. Somehow my son changed the key configuration that brings up the main configuration menu for 'all games' or just the 'individual' game. Now when I press the button that used to be the one to pull up the main menu, it flashes up but then disappears. I then get a volume setting config window at the bottom of the screen.

How can I reset the configurations back to the defaults? If you have specific steps to take that would be appreciated. I'm a newb at this and don't want to hose it up and more then it already is. Thanks.

Im really not sure which version you are using but a similar thing happened to me when I had some friends over. One of them messed with the settings by mistake and almost everything we pressed took us to the volume settings. The only solution I had was to redownload the emulator and move the roms to the new one, then deleting the old emu. Sorry if this isn't much help but it's working fine now.

You don't need to reinstall the emulator.  Either in the install directory or the save directory on E: there are a bunch of .cfg file (or maybe .ini files) that are the configurations for each game you have played.  With them will be a file named "default.cfg" (or .ini).  Delete that file.  I'm not at my XBox right now so I can't be more specific about the location.

Or one can restore the default settings to MAMEoX and , any other program on the Xbox simply by ; going into
the default "MS Dashboard" and deleting the save game (the said game) generated.
