ZsnexBox 2.8

-------------------------------------------

What's New:

-New excellent Mario skin by Neverwill. Be sure to give it a try.

-Added support for graphics packs. New games supported:
Far East of Eden Zero (J)
Far East of Eden Zero - Shounen Jump no Shou (J) [!]
Momotarou Dentetsu Happy (J) [!]
Super Power League 4 (J) [!]

-Added new filters:
Elsemi Superscale 2x
Elsemi Superscale 2x + 75% scanlines
Elsemi Superscale 2x + High Resolution Mode 7
Elsemi Superscale 2x  + 75% scanlines  + High Resolution Mode 7

-Made SuperScale 2X the default filter. SuperScale 2X looks just as good (if not better) than Advance MAME 2X and it is a lot faster. For example, the spinning title screen for Yoshi's Island with Advance MAME 2X, the FPS averaged in the low 50's. With Superscale, it is a rock solid 60 FPS. If you are an Advance MAME 2X user, I recommend using this instead.

-Updated the FAQ. Added several more question/answers. Please read this before posting a question on the forum.

-------------------------------------------

Graphics pack Installation:

I have uploaded the graphics packs here:

http://www.rogepost....8j6/graphics.7z

However, they are available other places as well.

Copy the contents of the graphics packs for the following games into these folders.

Game Name: Far East of Eden Zero (J)
Graphics go in folder: D:\graphics\Far East of Eden Zero

Game Name: Far East of Eden Zero - Shounen Jump no Shou (J) [!]
Graphics go in folder: D:\graphics\Far East of Eden Zero - Shounen

Game Name: Momotarou Dentetsu Happy (J) [!]
Graphics go in folder: D:\graphics\Momotarou Dentetsu Happy

Game Name: Super Power League 4 (J) [!]
Graphics go in folder: D:\graphics\Super Power League 4

You can also rename to match your rom names/copy the included sram files into the ZsnexBox\sram directory so you don't have to setup each game. If you copy these over, the games should start without any configuration.

There are issues with Momotarou Dentetsu Happy (J) [!] (hangs at the Hudson logo) and Super Power League 4 (J) [!] (graphics corruption) that have to do with the emulation of ZSNES, and they have nothing to do with the graphics packs themselves.

Star Ocean and Street Fighter Alpha 2 do not use graphics packs any longer nor will ZSNES load them if they are present.

Installation:
Copy the archive contents to you Xbox
Run default.xbe to start the emulator

-------------------------------------------

-Thanks
Neverwill for another excellent skin
GogoAckman for code and help with the Super scale filter
Elsemi for releasing the source to the Superscale filter
XaRaNn for the graphics packs
Anyone I forgot

Also, there are issues loading savstates generted in previous versions of ZsnexBox for some games. I don't know if it affects all previous versions or not. The savestates that caused an Xbox lockup for me were for Pilotwings, Super Mario kart, and Ken Griffey Baseball (can't remeber which one). I also, don't know if this is an issue that has to do with my Xbox or ZsnexBox itself.

If you had 2.7 yesterday, you did. smile.gif

What will constitute a 3.0 release?

A 2.9 release before it. I'm not too hung up on numbers. Meaning, I'm not going to wait until I have some huge new feature before releasing 3.0. However, I doubt I'll let the numbers get too high before I start putting extra letters/numbers etc... However, the final release will have the word Final in the name.

Did you ever read my idea of having a snes music player so that in menus and stuff you could play snes soundtracks and/or being able to play the music from the game select screen as an option. There is an awesome emulator nes emulator on the dreamcast that has this feature.
It's really  nice when selecting a game you can browse the box art, cartridge,  instruction manual, or music library for each game. Ofcourse this isn't important now just tweaking the emulator will be but it would be cool to have some sort of special feature that sets your emulator apart from other xbox emulators. Not that it needs it cause it's amazing already and has some new features never seen, Just some ideas to play around with.

nice work nes6502, I appreciate it.

Do you think it'll be possible to give the interface a little upgrade? In particular: the scrolling.

I haven't found any methods to skip letters, and an analog scroll speed would be quite useful. As it is, the fastest way I've found to get around the menu is to just use the R/L buttons (also L Thumbstick), but these methods are way too slow for a large list.

If there's a way to skip letters, or go way faster in the scrolling, I couldn't find them.

Hey Famine,
Just one suggestion!
Why not break your rom list into 'lettered directories'?
This is the best option for the majority of the rom collectors!

C.
