Are People Interested In Virtual Boy Emulator Port ?
« on: July 23, 2006, 05:08:00 PM »

I'm working on it.
It's based on allegro, so it needed some hack to works.
corrently the rendering looks odd because i don't stretch the graphics when the emulator need it.
anyway, i can improve it:

Very very cool, i sure am interested and other people will be too.

I think it's a first of getting something allegro-based running on xbox.

I'm curious, what emu are you basing this on?

That sounds great. I'd love to see a Virtual Boy emulator on the Xbox. Great work so far!

I would never ever use it but I'll say the progress of it would certainly interest me.

I think that would be really great!  I used to love my Virtual Boy -- after it was deemed a failure I picked up a whole bunch of games for it at Blockbuster real cheap.  Of course, I felt sick and nauseated after playing it for hours at a time (which in hindsight I now know to be a stupid idea).  Nevertheless, I had a whole lot of fun with mine until the leg stand broke.

I'm surprised that, given the complex visual nature and lack of commercial success of the Virtual Boy, that an emulator was even created.  Regardless, keep up the good work!  Can't wait to play games like Red Alarm and Wario Land again!

If you'd like to compare the emulator shots to in-game shots:

That's looking great.

The Virtual Boy is a pretty cool system. I've got one, even though I admittedly don't play it much. It's very unique, and it's got a few games that are really good.

If you could simulate the redness...that would be pretty cool.

Allegro was use for rendering the "3D" scene from the "VB world" to bitmap and final display to computer screen.
For the 1st part, i need to only port 2 or 3 allegro function. currently, i'm mainly missing the strech blit function from allegro.
So it's not hard, only a little time consuming.
It's based on red dragon.

Ever since I learned you could mod an Xbox, this has been near, if not at, the top of my list of wanted emulators.  A ton of kudos to alg5 for porting this one!

I liked the VBoy, even if it did make me feel sick at times... lol... I know they already have some emulators buy they run way too slow.... I hope this one will run a good speeds and be ported to the XBOX... and make sure you add Red/Blues Glasses support..... why... cuz then it would truly kick ass!!!!

I love the Virtual Boy a lot. The problem of course being that the actual system was uncomfortable to use and tended to hurt one's eyes after a short period of use. Being able to emulate the system on the Xbox would be a dream come true for me and the handful of other VB fans that are still out there.
