Under UnleashX go to File Manager. That will tell you how much free space you have on E:\

You should have some where between 3 and 4 GBs to work with on E:.  You don't want to fill up E: entirely though since that is where the Xbox saves games and E: is also used for some caching.  I'd try to leave around 1 GB free.

You can burn roms and emulators to disc if you want to save space you know.

For gamesaves you don't need more than 100 megs free on E, that is what I have free on the E drive when I run a game from the HD (and I do that always to not over use the dvd drive). Of course if you want to install any maps or something you need more. The only game than I know than installs something on E , without any download content, is otogi 2 than puts 100 megs on it.
I have like 4.8 gigs free on E since I have put the apps, all the dashboards and emus on the C drive and the roms on the F drive. That is because I want to use the not that big retail hard drive the best I can  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

Sorry for the english.

I've heard reports of problems with some games playing correctly when there is less than 1 GB free on E: (the games stutter).  But I have not witnessed this myself since I've never filled up my E: drive.

But I do think you should leave more than 100 MBs free for game saves.  I modded an XBox for a friend a couple of weeks ago.  When I went to copy the contents of E: to the new hard drive I found about 3.4 GB of games saves.  Of course, upon further examination I found that 3 GB of those games saves was due to one game:  Knights of the Old Republic (not sure if it was the 1st or 2nd one).  Anyway, turns out he had bought the Xbox used and had no idea those saves were on there.

Knights of the Old Republic (not sure if it was the 1st or 2nd one).

Individual saves for both games take up 1600 blocks, I've filled a non-modded harddrive up with them before.
