When you say 360, do you mean 360 like XBMC uses now?

Is anyone having any trouble with the speed on the download link for my metroid skin? I just tried to download it to see how fast it was going, and it was pretty freakin slow.

Anyway, if no one is having problems I won't try and post it someplace else. But if it's going slow for people I will.  (or if anyone has any good file upload sites to recomend that would be appreciated)

@ nes / master

Yeah, that's what he means. To be honest I'm not really interested in that, sorry. If you wanted to, it wouldn't be hard to use the skin you made that's a replica of the xbox 360, you'd just have to shift around where all the menu items go.

I've been downloading it for about half an hour. It's up to 80 %. By the way, I sent you an email.

HERE

Hopefully it's faster.

I also resized the images to 640x480. I was informed this would take up less of the emulators memory, thus not crashing larger games when you load them.

IPB Image

So everyone who downloaded before, re-download this release.

I can't edit my old post, but I'm going to take that file off of that other site so people can't get at it.
Sorry about all the inconvenience, let me know if this one is mega slow, hopefully it's not.

EDIT---I just tried it, it's going fast, took 20 seconds to download for me at 155kb/s.

I'll be updating my mario skin on www.xbox-skins.net to have proper image sizes too, so no crashing will occur.
(for some reason I can upload mario, but not metroid, don't know why).

OK MARIO SKIN HAS BEEN UPDATED AS WELL, YOU CAN STILL USE THE OLD LINK I BELIEVE.

Could it be the filename length? I noticed it was a lot longer then the mario one. Or maybe there is a size limit per file.

Just curious, neverwill, what res is your 'zelda' skin?  I ask because it looks very block in 720p.  Is there a way to increase the skins resolution?  What res is your surreal64 skins?

Thanks and props.

640x480 at 72dpi high quality jpg. Neverwill could post the higher res versions, but I highly reccomend against anyone using them at these higher resolutions. The Direct3D texture they are mapped to is only 640x480 and it might cause some games to crash the Xbox on load (running out of RAM). This is especially true for HQ Boxart preview users. But you could allways try them and see or maybe find a higher resolution above 640x480 that might be a good compromise. When ZsnexBox is first started, turn on show available memory.

It should be around 30MB. If it is much lower then this, there will be problems. If it is 20-25 there will be crashes.

It must be that the actual textures in the images he used are low resolution then, because i do not get this with surreal64 or xports skins.

Either way they are still awesome, and the new layout is thumbs up nes.

HERE
IPB Image

This is the last time I'll post a link for this skin, I swear!

@Foe-Hammer

I originally created it very large, with high res. But nes just informed me that the images need to be 640x480 max so that it doesn't take up too much RAM (causing some larger roms to crash). It's unfortunate, and I'm not sure if there's anything that can be done about it. I resized the metroid and mario skins as well to conform to the 640x480 limit as well.

Try this image. I increased the dpi and the image quality but still kept it at 640x480. I think the real problem  might be that you are using a high resolution display but I'm displaying a low resolution image on a stretched low resolution texture designed for 480p/i.

I think the only real solution would be to support HD GUI images. However, there isn't enough RAM for this.

I was just screwing around with the high res and 640x480 images, and the high res look much better on a regular t.v as well. But like nes said, they'll probably crash the emu with larger sized roms.

EDIT--
I just tried loading 'Yoshi's Island' with the higher res images installed on the metroid skin, and it does crash the emulator. So if you play the larger roms, then I wouldn't suggest the hi-res images, but if you don't then try them out and see how it goes.

Just tried the high res metroid skin..... blink.gif .....godly.  I'm at a lose of words.  The perfect theme and music for a snes emu.

But you are correct; i just tried launching zelda and it froze. sad.gif

So i tried the lower res metroid skin and it doesn't look all that different from its high res one.

Thanks again neverwill.

Try launcing Zelda but without using a HQ preview (if that is what you are using) and see if it loads. I bet it will but I havn't tried it. SuperFX (like Yoshis Island) games may be another story.

I definatly agree on the metroid skin. The perfect skin with the perfect music.

Just so anyone who tries this image knows: This is an older work in progress image (of the rombrowser) and it's not the same as the one that's in the release (they look different, positioning is different etc). You will have to move stuff around if you use this image.

If you really want to play around with the images I recomend you download the high res images I linked to a couple posts back and then resize/decrease/increase the dpi to whatever you want if you use photoshop.

Just thought I'd point this out.
