Great job, this emulator is just geting better and better )

I have two little suggestions (sorry if they have been made before but I really don't want to read all Zsnesxbox threads before):

1. How about adding the possibility to jump to the next/previous by pressing Left or Right on the D-Pad? I think this comes in very handy in all emulators from Xport.

2. This is now really not important but how about changing the default bgm? I realy love the classic Castlevania series (by this I mean all the games released before SotN) however the music in Zsnesxbox is a remix of tracks from the very first game on the NES and with that not really very Super NES related (as there wasn't even a remake of the first game on the Super NES). I know, I can change it myself but maybe you could put in something more Super NES related in the first place wink.gif

Thanks in advance

i dont want to sound like a smart ass,
but why dont you use cd-rw?

+ thanks for the new version!!

I do when I run out of CD-Rs. I hate CD-RW because it takes 15 minutes to burn a 4mb file with the CD-Rws I have. Where a CD-R I can burn in like 40 seconds.

There is no way to fix this. Thee is no version of Starfox 2 (with source available) that runs this game correctly.

Are you sure about that the starfox 2 flicker was fixed in a couple versions of wip zsnes and there source is avalible...Maybe it's not the right source?

I tried the newest WIP and  this version and starfox 2 works fine in both.

February 19 2006 WIP

    * ALL: Added gamma support to 16-bit new gfx engine [pagefault]
    * ALL: SA1 IRQ timing/counter overflow fix, this should fix SA1 games that were previously freezing [pagefault]
    * ALL: Timing fixes for games [pagefault]
    * ALL: Remove FF3 hack, FF3 works perfectly now! [pagefault]
    * ALL: FF3 cursor bug fixes, sprite rendering fixes to support RTO properly, ALL: FF3 mode 7 DMA timing fixings [pagefault]
    * ALL: Fixed program counter in RET macro, Dirt Racer now plays with some blinking, making progress smile.gif [pagefault]
    * ALL: Made STOP clear the IRQ flag when it's set, this fixes Star Fox 2 [pagefault]
    * WIN: Fixed disable Screensaver option. [Jonas Quinn]
    * GUI: Fixed Primary Buffer option. [Jonas Quinn]

Page it's on with source.

Also I didn't see anyone answer my question if there is a place to download preview screenshot packs to use with this emulator.

Have you played it long enough to go to the first stage? Every version I played would allways crash on the map screen when picking a stage.

The flicker is fixed in several versions but the game allways crashes.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean

Sorry for not making too much sense there.  The screenshot function was not working, and thereby thought that they could not be used for previews.

I posted my reasoning and solution in a later poster here:

QUOTE
I figured they would have to be in the 'prev' folder in Znesxbox on the E: drive, but for some reason i could not get the screenshots to show up.

Well, i figured out the problem. I previously only tried taking screenshots on two of my favorite games; CastleVania 4, and Super Metroid. The problem is both of the roms of these two games i had file extensions were capitalized, and not in lower case (CastleVania 4.smc, and not CastleVania 4.SMC). For some reason if your roms file extensions are all capitalized the screenshots will not show up. Wierd, i know. So i went through all the roms i had an changed the file extensions to lower case, and now it works perfecty. Also, i've never had this problem on any of the other emu's i used, so it must be a bug in znesxbox.

But man, the hi-res screenshots look great!

HI Nes6502,I want to thank you for adding the option for font size...but I want to know if there is a way to save the rom path, because every time I load Zsnes I have to find the rom path... huh.gif Thanks anyway..

If you have a rom path that you allways use, you could change the Rompath.ini. This is where the emulator allways starts looking for roms. By default it's allways the Roms folder where the default.xbe is, but it can be changed to any path.

For example, you could change:

D:\Roms

to

F:\Programs\Emulators\xSnes9x\Roms (do not hit enter at the end of this line)

ZsnexBox development is not cheap. It does cost me money allready. I don't have a debug Xbox which means I have to burn a Cd-R to test every change. I have easilly burned 400+ CD-Rs since I started development.

Can't you just FTP the files over to your Xbox? Or even just run a debug BIOS?

The font size can be changed in the GUI options menu

That wasn't really it.  It *looked* like a really tiny font, but it was probably just gibberish caused by the loading an old INI.  I mean it was so bad, I couldn't even navigate the menu to find where to change the font size, and even then, I wouldn't have been able to read it.

Needless to say, let's just stress the deletion of the INI when upgrading.

And Nes, you're doing a fantastic job.  Real scene service.  The least we can do to repay you is support you enough that you don't have to spend money, only time, on this.  If you do ever change your mind, you could easily set up Pay Pal account and just let enough money come in to pay for all those CD-Rs.  I know there's plenty of us who would be more than happy to just send a buck.

Yes and Yes.

However, I don't fee like unhooking my Xbox and moving it to my PC everytime i want to try a new build.

I also am fearful I might mess something up if I attempt to change the Bios. I don't really know much about this type of thing. I'm using a softmod. Maybe it would be easy and risk free?

But neither option would work unless I bought a much longer crossover cable since my Xbox is nowhere near my PC. It's not that bad since Cd-R's are cheap.

The code loads the ini and reads the value for the font size. If the value is not there it reads something. It might have read -645 which would explain why the fonts looked like garbage.

I think you're better off donating a really long cross cable.

The 05/27 WIP works great for me.

I thought after hearing talk about Star Fox 2 I would update my Zsnes and try it.  In prior versions (my one I had before was a march WIP) it crashed.  Looks like they fixed it smile.gif
