Minor nitpick:

How about having the version caption dynamically generated in code
rather than have it as part of the background bitmap? It can get a
little confusing when testing releases. wink.gif

i can't play this version. not to say it doesn't work at all, i just can't play a game with these configurations. is it now that the left analog is the only way to move around? i loathe the analog buttons, and it's a main reason that i've barely played my xbox games. the analog buttons are always stuck in one direction or another, and i can't get very far walking "left" the whole time. also, since it's always stuck in some direction, i can't even choose the game i want to play. i can only choose the last game, or a random game.

i'm basically asking that you please at least give us the option of using the d-pad for directions instead of the analog button, in the game and in the browser. the volume on the right button is bad enough, but at least i could play it. i realize that if my controller was perfect, this wouldn't be an issue, but i don't want to have to find the "good one" everytime to get an emulator working.

Of course the Digital pad still works. If it doesn't work for you, then your controller is defective. In fact, your entire post sounds as if you are using a broken controller. There is a deadzone calibration in the menu that may fix your problem. Try setting it to 0.54

It can be disabled if you don't like it.

Be reasonable. Do you really expect me to code for people that have broken controllers? You can buy a new wireless controller for $10.00.

Adjust the Analog deadzone in the general options menu. That will fix your problem. Try a value of 0.54

Dunno if you could somehow flag the emu to rotate the screenshot when a rom is selected from a folder named "Japan" or if the rom name has (J) in it? Might be a better alternative than having a completely different skin if its at all possible. In any case it would be a nice feature.

It would not be hard to implement. If the height of the image was greater than the width then that would mean it was a japanese cover, and I could change the way the preview was displayed. However, is it even worth doing if there are no more than 10-15 total box scans on the net?

Congrats, nes6502. This is great work !!!!  biggrin.gif

The only thingie that's left for me would be the rom-browsing just
like it is in XPort's Emulators (.. Dir up and a button for that).  wink.gif

Like mentioned before the Load State/Save State Buttons
should also be like in XPort's.  cool.gif

It seems you have a habit for not updating the 'rombrowser.jpg'
and for leaving the 'Thumbs.db' in the 'media'-directory, hehe.
It's not important just nuances.  happy.gif

Keep up the good work !  pop.gif

BTW: pleeeaase - we don't need japanese covers...  rolleyes.gif
(well, I guess most of us don't need them)
It's the very last thing the emulator needs, right now.
There are other small things to tweak?

There's truth to this.

the controller isn't broken at all, i could just accept that it could be a little loose after 4 years. still, from SFIII to tomb raider legends, to any other emulator, there'd never been any problems with it besides my not liking the analog buttons. i think you'll find a lot of people will have the same problem with the analog buttons being too sensitive.

also, it wasn't that i disliked the sound volume option, i just didn't like it on the right analog button. simply looking at the controller in a way it found displeasing would cause it to lower the volume from 100 to 0. anyway, the 0.54 analog deadzone fixed the problem and it's all good now.

I do. I died a few times to the last boss in Illusion Of Gaia because of it, I was beginning to think it was my Controller-S.

Are you serious? Not being able to use the joystick properly sounds pretty broken to me. And the fact that your controller is the reason you rarely play xbox games proves it. I highly doubt there are a lot of people with the exact same problems with there controllers as you who also use zsnex. Geez some people act like nes is working for them.

I have burned all my roms on DVD in ZIP-format.

Super Nintendo/a
Super Nintendo/b
......

When I insert the DVD my xbox doesn't find anything.
I works fine in xsnes9x. Also in XBMC I can read the DVD.
What am I doing wrong ????  uhh.gif

did you make the disc using an XISO program like Qwix?

if not, go back and do it that way.....programs/emulators that allow the use of regular formated Data DVD discs are not as plentiful and do not work in all programs

Sounds like you are not making an Xbox formatted disc. ZsnexBox does not support the standard iso format as XBMC does. You have to make an XISO first and burn from that.

I don't know if my issue is related, but I also have an issue that goes across all emulators, not just this one. Example, when I finish ActRaiser you are supposed to be able to reset the game to unlock a new play mode. The game reset option in emulators just starts the emulation over. Maybe its because it cannot write to the rom, I don't know. But I understand that its confusing wondering if you did something that would merit an award but you have no way to find out since the final screen does not let you go anywhere and a reset just reloads the rom. I think on mario, thats it dude.

I don't remember Actraiser well enough. However, this type of behaviour is acheived by games modifying the save ram. And I write the save ram everytime there is an exit. I don't think there is anything special about hitting reset on a real SNES and I would be suprised if ZSNES didn't emulate the actual reset behaviour. Are you sure this is what it supposed to happen? If you are 100% sure, then post (or send me) a savestate and I will investigate it further.

QUOTE
I have the full USA Romset(725 or so roms) they all work except a few that have checksum errors, but I can load all of the ones that dont have a checksum problem.

it only freezes after I quit a game, it never freezes on selecting a game after starting up. it usually freezes after selecting 4-6 roms....

I need more specific details. I have never had a problem on game start, emulation, or game exit with any of the games in the USA set. Are you saying the entire XBOX freezes when you click the right thumbstick to access the Menu?

I have to have an exact game sequence to investigate this any further. Please try and find a sequence that does it everytime. Please verify these ROMS are correct with NSRT and post the NSRT output along with the order the games were run.

QUOTE
As for HQ SNES scans out there, they aren't as plentiful as NES scans (I have all but like 5 NES box covers in HQ) but they do exist in many places. I'm just finishing up my HQ NES pack and will work on SNES very soon. For Japanese scans, here is one of the sites I've seen that I will convert when I have time. There's 151 HQ Super Famicom box scans there, so that should more than settle if its worth doing or not. Here's another which lists ALL games although the scans are only thumbnails that display. I'll have to contact the web page's owners and see if there would be any way to get ahold of the original sized scans.

I will add support for it to ZsnexBox (for a later release).

rumble?? on SNES?? if that could happen that'be be awesome....but....seeing as there was never any rumble feature for snes....im thinkin it would be hard to emulate it :-p

Rumble is slowly being added to nearly all xbox emulators. Im pretty sure nes was the one who originally thought of the idea.
