i can't play this version. not to say it doesn't work at all, i just can't play a game with these configurations. is it now that the left analog is the only way to move around? i loathe the analog buttons, and it's a main reason that i've barely played my xbox games. the analog buttons are always stuck in one direction or another, and i can't get very far walking "left" the whole time. also, since it's always stuck in some direction, i can't even choose the game i want to play. i can only choose the last game, or a random game.
Of course the Digital pad still works. If it doesn't work for you, then your controller is defective. In fact, your entire post sounds as if you are using a broken controller. There is a deadzone calibration in the menu that may fix your problem. Try setting it to 0.54

the volume on the right button is bad enough, but at least i could play it.
It can be disabled if you don't like it.

i realize that if my controller was perfect, this wouldn't be an issue, but i don't want to have to find the "good one" everytime to get an emulator working.
Be reasonable. Do you really expect me to code for people that have broken controllers? You can buy a new wireless controller for $10.00.

Does anyone get this issue with input where sometimes
the 'up' direction appears to be held down (happens in
both games and menu) and only by wiggling the left
analog stick will 'unhold' it
Adjust the Analog deadzone in the general options menu. That will fix your problem. Try a value of 0.54

Dunno if you could somehow flag the emu to rotate the screenshot when a rom is selected from a folder named "Japan" or if the rom name has (J) in it? Might be a better alternative than having a completely different skin if its at all possible. In any case it would be a nice feature.
It would not be hard to implement. If the height of the image was greater than the width then that would mean it was a japanese cover, and I could change the way the preview was displayed. However, is it even worth doing if there are no more than 10-15 total box scans on the net?
