Surreal64xxx
« on: May 17, 2006, 11:40:00 AM »

I've read around and I found that Surreal64xxx is the most popular N64 Emulator but I can't get some games to work with it. South Park doesn't play at all and Majoria's Mask is very choppy if it plays at all.
My games are showing up and Super Mario 64 and Ocirana of Time work fine.

My Questions are:

1) Is there another emulator for nintendo 64 that works well?

2) Is there a way to get these games playing correctly?

3) Finally, what are the different settings once you select a game (ie. Rice 3.10, something like that), what do the different ones do and could this help me fix this problem?

Thanks,

did you check the COMPATABILITY LIST

I'm pretty sure neither game works very well on ANY emulator, and to answer your first question surreal xxx is the best out there. answer to #3 is on that post also.

OK I checked the compatibility list and I found this.

QUOTE(deathx88 @ Aug 14 2004, 04:12 PM) *

South Park
Emulator Version: Surreal 1.0
Rom Version: (U) [!]
Rom Settings: Unknown
Comments: You MUST edit Surreal.ini in E/TDATA/a64fea57/ to in-clude this in this game's entry, in order to make it playable: Use Basic Audio=1
1964, Playable with no major glitches or texture problems
Project 64, Not Tested
UltraHLE, Not Tested

The comment says I have to edit the ini file but the description is vague. Can someone elaborate? I need a more thorough explanation please.

Thanks!

EDIT: A screenshot of the ini file would help if anyone can help me with that. Thanks!

try surreal64 v1.0 instead of the xxx releases. it tends to have better compatibility and often better speed as well.

I hope you are asking for an updated version of SurrealXXX and not that damn "Surreal 2."  Because if you are, you'd better cover your nuts and face...

im pretty sure there is a tutorial on xbox-scene on how to get things off the usual places

i forgot to add but that compatibility list is for surreal 64 1.0 mostly
and in surreal64 v1.0 majoras mask is playable and actually runs fairly well, it feels about 30 fps though but the original game only ran at about 40 anyways

well it depends on what version of surreal xxx you have. The earlier versions played much like 1.0 but the later versions seem to be getting progressively worse for some games and slightly better in others. e.g Banjo tooie doesnt work well in 1.0 from memory, but it runs okay in the latest version of xxx
