Ki-xxx B0.9 Question & Nds Emulator?
« on: April 10, 2006, 11:00:00 AM »

I wanted to know if the new Killer Instinct Arcade Emulator ki-xxx b0.9 made KI2 any faster than it was for the old one? I also wanted to know if their are any good NDS emulators for PC that would ever be ported over to the Xbox, or is the NDS too complicated for a release?

Unless you have two TVs stacked on each other, with one having touch screen capabilities, and are willing to sit right next to them tapping on them, NDS is not feasible.

1. It does.
2. The Xbox is not powerful enough to emulate the Nintendo DS well.

Even a PC than would be almost as powerful as a xbox360 couldn't run a NDS game at more than 20% of it speed. I think than the NDS have a more complex versions of the chips used on the GBA and those are very hard to emulate. Sorry for the english.

Heh clearly the two screens would be displayed in the same window with black bars on the side of a standard 4:3 display, as they are when video captured by developers.  No doubt a cursor function would be easy to implement.  And no DS emulators for many moons, possibly suns...on PC.

I know, I was just exaggerating for show  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)  But let's all remember the most important thing:  there are no NDS emulators that are even near complete.

just for fun i once tried this emulator for pc: DeSmuME.

it uses the mouse cursor for the touch screen and it boots some games. i think i tried princess peach and could walk around a little. of course nowhere near playable but was fun to try. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

edit: i just tried it again and it played the intro of project run at fps 22. no sound and some grafical glitches. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) as a proof of concept, nice.

Development on the NDS emulator scene is in the beginning stages.

A PC has a mouse.  The XBox does not.  Integrating proper touch-screen support in an XBox will never work as well as a native touch-screen.

The XBox barely emulates the GBA, and it does so sluggishly.  It doesn't have the power to emulate the NDS.

So, no, no and no.

The 360 may have a DS emulator someday, but any game that requires touch-screen (read: basically everyone) will work awkwardly at best on the 360.

It will never happen on the original XBox.

I own a Nintendo DS and I can honestly say that most DS games are crap. The reason I bought one is becasue it has backwards compatibility with all the GBA games and it has a really sweet design. I love the design on the NDS Lite. Also I'm hopping for some great Snes, Genesis, TG-16 and NES emulation in the future. I would love to play those consoles in a portable unit.

NDS emulator? No freakign way. It's way too soon and I don't think there is enough documentation out to emulate the DS on a PC and no the Xbox would never be able to ahndle Nintendo DS emulation. I just don't think so.

I can't believe the Xbox can handle KI and KI2 actually. Not that they are very good games but it's impressive.

What I would love to see is an updated Mame for the Xbox. I just can't believe no one has picked this one up and Xport refuses to do it. There are a huge amount of Mame games that would be playable on the Xbox for sure.

Such as? I find Mame 128 Plus! great as is. It can run complex games such as Dodonpachi really well IMO. What are you hoping for? 3D?

There are so many more games that have been added since the last Xbox mame release that could be playable on the Xbox. Mame for the Xbox is now very outdated and no the Xbox can't handle the 3D games. Not even my 3ghz PC can.

It's just silly when people want crazy stuff emulated on the Xobx. Like. "Will we see PS2 emulated on the Xbox?" or even the Sega Saturn. It's just crazy.

Whoever thinks that the PS2 is going to be an emulator for Xbox, clearly doesn't know anything about Emulators or specs.
