I got xmugen installed and working but there is no sound?? did i do something wrong? also does anyone know of a good screenpack that works with this?

You probably have your stereo set for Digital input, when Xmugen/Linux only supports analog.

bzImage and irdloop are two files that contain the Linux kernel & drivers that are running in the background so that mugen can run.  We are actually pretty lucky to have semi-regular updates which we can test out, rather than having to wait months in between releases.  If you don't want to upgrade those files, that's your choice but you might be missing out on some new features.  On the other hand, they are works in progress so it might break other stuff.  I can't really help you though unless you tell us your problem.  All I can do until then is to reccomend you read the Xmugen FAQ which is stickied in the Emulator section.

I had a problem with her... and then it just went away...
I didn't realy do anything to fix it. I had her selectable, get to fight with her, and if I did a certain move it'd crash xmugen. It happend more then once so I know I wasn't pressing any bad keys or anything. Then one time it just decided it was gonna work, so I said fine by me. Haven't had problems with her since.

fabexmax if you need personal attention get on irc and join #xmugen in efnet.
me and r1sky are usually always idling, but there are a few more regulars like C-PiMP and Stig87 and [ImOk] that can help ya out if need be. Just try and wait it out if you dont get a responce immediatly.
But like guybird mentioned if you don't tell us what part you're having trouble with we can't even guess on how to help you.

i need the message or xmugen version from wich you've the bzimage came.
before you was able to use 1 360 controller and a xbox1 controller at the same time ?
are you sure it came from the bzimage ?

i am using i think v4 of xmugen
and the bzimage i used was the very 1st one wth 360 support
and you can get twoplayer support.

if you want i can upload some of my files and let you look at it.

This is what i see in the mugen.cfg

[Sound Linux]
  ;Set the following to 1 to enable sound effects and music.
  ;Set to 0 to disable.
Sound = 1

  ;Set the following to 1 to enable stereo effects in-game
  ;Set to 0 to disable.
StereoEffects = 1

  ;This is the width of the sound panning field. If you
  ;Increase this number, the stereo effects will sound
  ;closer to the middle. Set to a smaller number to get
  ;more stereo separation on sound effects.
  ;Only valid if StereoEffects is set to 1.
PanningWidth = 240

  ;Set the following to 1 to reverse left and right channels
  ;on your sound card.
ReverseStereo = 0

  ;Wave device to use. Choose from:
  ; NONE    - No wave device
  ; AUTO    - Autodetect
  ; OSS     - Open Sound System
  ; ESD     - Enlightened Sound Daemon
  ; ALSA    - ALSA sound driver
WavDevice = Auto

  ;Voice Channels to use. Values are from 1 to 16.
  ;If sound quality is poor, try setting a smaller number, such as 8 or 4.
WavChannels = 12

  ;Maximum number of voices used for MODs.  This number reduces the
  ;number of available WavChannels.  ModVoices must be less than
  ;WavChannels.  If equal, then MODs will get all the available
  ;channels and therefore no sound effects will play.
ModVoices = 6

  ;Midi device to use. Choose from:
  ; NONE    - No midi device
  ; AUTO    - Autodetect
  ; OSS     - Open Sound System
  ; ALSA    - ALSA sound driver
  ; DIGMID  - Allegro's Digimid driver
MidiDevice = Auto

  ;This is the master volume for all wav sounds (affects mp3 volume).
  ;Valid values are from from 0 to 255.
MasterWavVolume = 255

  ;Set the volume of wav, midi, mods and CD audio.
  ;Note: WavVolume does not affect mp3 or mod volume.
  ;Valid values are from from 0 to 255.
  ;For CDAVolume only, using -1 will leave the volume unchanged.
WavVolume = 255
MidiVolume = 255
MP3Volume = 255
ModVolume = 255
CDAVolume = -1

  ;Set the following to 1 to enable and 0 to disable MIDI, MP3, MOD and CD
  ;playback.
PlayMIDI = 1
PlayMP3 = 1
PlayMOD

it might be something you did. but also, check the renamer, sometimes the first couple lines like "author" or mugenversion will make them look like "author = " or something or another. that might be the error. i believe its some bug with the renamer that hasnt been fixed. so check on that. i asure you that about 98% of any character you can get your hands on will work. the exceptions are only a few characters that dont work due to they were programmed with dos mugen in mind and some that need a "Explodmax" value higher then what normal mugen handles.
