I have an XBOX that is a 1.4/5 it has the TSOP flashed with Evox_M7_ef and a Focus chip.

I have been having problems with it for a day now (error 12), but today after I dropped it on the floor (it fell 2.6 feet).
Now when I hit the power or eject button, nothing happens except the fan spins for 1 second and nothing else.

If I hold the power button in, the GREEN light turns on, but still no video/audio. What could be the problem?

Could a bad EEPROM prevent the XBOX from turning on?

If so, what can I do to fix it?

Bad eeprom is usually a flashing RED fron LED's only Not FRAG, but FR if you get my drift.

I found out today, that if I take the A/V cable out, I get the green orange flashing, does this mean I have a bad eeprom?

And if so, how do I fix it?

(At least the Mother Board and power aren't fried like I thought).  Phew!

Orange and green means the Cable is out nothing more....

If it fell you might have broke it.

Got to get more specific so we can help more.

Here are the Specifics:

1.) SoftModed the XBOX

2.) Flashed the TSOP with Evox_M7_ef using raincoat

3.) Gave it back to owner.

4.) Owner calls me 3 weeks later and says that he started getting error 12 randomly when booting the XBOX

5.) He gives me the XBOX, I boot it up and it works fine. After a couple of boots I get Error 12.

6.) I take a DVD good drive from another XBOX (samsung) and put it in the broken XBOX, It crashes at the X-logo (no splash at the bottom) and gives me error 7

7.) I put my good Harddrive in the broken XBOX (now new DVD drive and new HDD in the Broken XBOX), and it works fine, no errors or anything. GREAT!

8.) So I put his Philips DVD drive back in the broken XBOX and turn it on, only to get error 12 again (good HDD is still in). So now I know that when I put a different HDD and DVD in the Broken XBOX, it works fine.

9.) Since then I have tested the HDD and the DVD drive that was origionally in the Broken XBOX, and they work fine, so I know it has to be the motherboard or power-supply. So now I also know that The HDD and the DVD drive that was in the broken XBOX are ok.

10.) When I put the Origional HDD and DVD back in the broken XBOX, it would not turn on, I had to hit the power/eject button 5 times before the green led would come on, even then,  the Video was all messed up, andit seemed like it crashed at the animation.

11.) But today I turn it on and I get to the X-logo before it crashes,  but it still crashes (the Origional DVD and HDD it came with are in it now).

The HDD has AValaunch as the default dash.

I know this might seem wierd but try this....

I might be a grounding problem..

Find the screw that holds the motherboard in right below the video connector and above the gpu, there is a screw there..  Take your torx screwdrive and press down hard and tighten that bitch.. Then hook every thing back up and try it again.  IF that don't work then we will have to troubleshoot more to figure it out.

Well,  I tightened all the MB screws, specifically the one you mentioned {{DEMON}}, but no good.

Sorry dude, I figured it might be a grounding problem... I guess not.

Now when I turn on his XBOX (with his HDD and DVD drive), instead of error 12, I get error seven.

It is safe to assume I have founnd the problem, but I do not have another Delta power supply or a multimeter, so I cant test it to be sure.

Does anyone know if it is OK to plug in a 300Watt ATX power supply to an XBOX, so I can test if it is a PSU problem?
(I dont wont to fry the XBOX)

NO, you can't hook a regular ATX PSU directly .. you have to have the apache adapter from Tribemods.com .. Although, you could do what I did in that post .. To rule out a short just take the mobo a PSU out of the case and put it on something (i put it on an old Abit mobo box) whatever that wont have static or ground it out .. Now, you need to kinda put the case really close to it so you can connect that yellow panel adapter (the one that goes from the power button) nothing else need be connected (though, I suggest hooking the dvdrom up)..

Now, the mobo should only be touching whatever its on (in my case a box) and you could even turn the psu over so its kind of tilted and stable, whatever long as its not touching something metallic or something that will cause static. Try to power it on; this should be tried before replaced a fuse IMHO; unless you KNOW it is the fuse ..  The smallest thing can cause a short

Oh, and the trick about connecting the HDD to a computer's power supply and turning it on  before u turn the xbox on (with the data cable from xbox hooked to it) is safe to do.

Can I just buy a cheap multimeter and test it with that, because Tribemods.com is out of the adapter right now, and I only have a week to solve this problem.

Also, the XBOX will NOT turn on today, I left it alone yesterday, and now its dead.

One more question, did you say that there was a screw under the mobo shorthing it out, or was there a screw under the PSU?

Ok, I should have been more clear

You dont need and atx PSU. What you do is take the motherboard and power supply completely out of the xbox. Put them on a box or something. This eliminates any possibility of a short. The one hangup is to the turn the xbox on u need it connected to the power button (well unless u really know what ur doin, but this is easiest). The cable from the power button is very short so u need to get the case as close as u can the motherboard (but dont put it in) and connect the power button/cdromLED cable ..

Now, connect the power cable to the PSU BEFORE u put it in the wall-socket (dont want to shock urself). Now push the power button (make sure u have the power button cable in the right socket, theres only one it fits in correctly). Make sure its hooked up right and if u get absolutely NO power; try flipping the power able (the black one from the wall) over. I think you are probably just shorting out and this will tell us.

Ya get a $5 multimeter and check the idle voltages on the molex connector if you get no power. Dont throw it all away just yet!

Well I did it and you were RIGHT, I took the PSU and Mobo out, set them on top of boxes and put the system back together out side the XBOX case lie you said and BAM it booted no problem!

Now where do I go from here Trajan? (can't leave it outside the case, ,and there was no screw under the PSU)
