I actually found 2 different mugen games that play of cdr/dvd and it was in already an iso.i just burned it and was good to go.there isnt as much characters as say some of these packages that are floating about but its still good and each version has about 50 characters.

hi dudes... I'm a big fan of xmugen since 2 years (or maybe more)...

well, I already have installed and play with xmugen and it's really fun...try this setup, it was released on my forum a few days ago...

just download all the files, put them into F:Games directory on your xbox and it should work..if not.... maybe I can make a copy of my setup (now that I can ftp stuff)...

well that's all for now, hope you get it working, it's good, faster and fun as hell! (beware, you need to add an screenpack and lifebar)...

so if you have troubles with that...I will try later to upload my stuff

hello. i'm new to the forums and to be quite honest i only joined for the reason that i want to get xmugen to run perfectly on my xbox. from the looks of things it won't be as easy as running it on windows. so i noticed the supposed updated Xmugen Faq link doesn't work... i don't mean to sound like a prick but i need to start somewhere. i'm not new to mugen but however i am new to xmugen and xbox in general.. just got mine. can someone give a helping hand to a know-nothing noob? ha thanks.

You will need to look around for a good version of xmugen if you find the bog standard version you will need to rename a folder in data to MFJ or you will get that damn error

been sitting all morning trying to get it to bloody work lol also if you plan on playing it in HD you will need to edit the mugenboot.cfg and change the 640x480 to 720p or 480p you will also need to change the resolution in data/mugen.cfg

you can get the default version here with no characters. you need to rename the folder in this version

I have now gotten r1sky's 4.9 xmugen to work but sadly i really dont like the mugen fighting jam screenpack all that much.
anychance some nice person can PLEASE upload a working Everyone vs Everyone screenpack that WORKS with xmugen PLEASE? sad.gif
If I remember right r1sky uploaded a modified EVE pack he did once but the rapidshare link no longer works sad.gif
I have tried for almost 24hrs now trying to get my eve screenpack to work with r1sky's F:\Games version and to no success all I get are errors and have tried renaming everything to lowercase via the renamer and yes I changed the motif to data/EVE/system.def but nothing grr.gif

btw I had my F:\Games folder named all in lowercase and the r1sky's 4.9 Setup spit out errors
changed it to F:\Games and now it works!!!
After trying for almost 6 months off and on to get this working I could not believe that was the only thing wrong

Thanks for this setup r1sky everything runs smooth biggrin.gif

I give up on the screen pack loader of xmugen I have been able to get the mortal kombat project and EVE battle to boot on R1sky's setup and also one the screenpack loader but only if I change the main mugen config in the data folder to motif =data/mkp/system.def or motif =data/eve/system.def

I try to launch them through the loader if I put eve or mkp screenpack in say menulaunch9
and edit that menulaunch to either load one if the 2 I get a menulauch9 NOT FOUND in the dos screen when i try to load that screenpack
Does anyone know how to fix this or been able to if so HOW?

I know xmugen is dead but I LOVE 2-D fighters and am so close to getting xmugen setup working
I would really appreciate any help I could get

That's the same reason i never used the Screenpack loader, its always heck to get working. I just normally setup all screenpacks separately with its own configurations and when ever i need to play a different one i just copy the mugen.cfg file to the XMugen data folder and its works every time.

WTF I FINALLY GOT THE BOOTLOADER TO BOOT DIIFF SCREENPACKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

here is how I did it instead of editing a menulaunch file I opened up the xbox renamer app
clicked on launch file creator in the renamer copied this text into it

I have done this for the EVE Battle and DC vs Marvel and mujen fighting jam Screenpacks with this method and I CONFIRM this method to  work so if you are able to boot a screenpack via r1sky's or the bootloader if you configure tha main mugen.cfg file in the data folder to only boot that screenpack this will work
I hope this method will work for you also

ok if someone miss understands the line ./mugen -r mkp&
the mkp is for the mortal kombat project screenpack
if you wanted to use eve battle screenpack to boot up you would use ./mugen -r eve&

NOTE: anyone that has the X3 control panel or usb on their xbox you can plug your 360 controller up and play xmugen with that. I was doing that until my xbox died. You can't control the dashboard with the 360 controller but once xmugen boots you should be able to play with it. Anyone that wants to host the old setup go ahead it might get deleted soon.


Right now my xbox has just died, so anyone who wants to host this setup go ahead. You can also edit it any way you like. Anyone that can help me with my xbox shoot me a PM.

Once I get my xbox back working I will release some more xmugen games. Right now I am working on MKP 4.1 Remix for xmugen users. Adding new moves, characters, and maybe gameplay to 4.1.

are you able to boot it up at all or do you hear a clicking sound if so hd died
best bet go to a pawn shop and get a used one here I could get one for $40 and then softmod it and put a 1tb hd in it hehe (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I am excited now since I got the screenpack booter to work properly and load so far 5 diff screenpacks

I saw that you are trying to get DC vM to work on your xbox check the 2nd to last link on my post and see if you like that DC vM. I am going to put that on the xbox but with different characters.

WOW cant wait for that version of marvel vs dc looks freakin awsome!!!!!!!
I tried dc vs marvel but not enough slots I have over 30 dc and marvel characters I want to add to it and cant figure out how to add more freakin slots to it

I cant wait for ur version I love the new character select screen and actually everything in it!!

Since my xbox broke I having been looking in to the 360 and if it was possible to run mugen on it. One of the forums I go to have a thread about a new open source mugen build called xnamugen.

It is basically mugen built in xna, since this is a mugen forum I thought I would post about this. I don't know too much about xna but games built with it can be ran on the 360 with a premium membership right?

I know that microsoft would never approve such a product to be sold on LIVE Marketplace but this wouldn't stop us from running it on our 360's ourselves would it? Since this is an open source project we could compile it to run on the 360 is this correct?

Right now XNA Mugen is in beta stages but looks promising the only drag about XNA is it is free for PC and Zune but for 360 you have to pay. But I will gladly pay to play mugen on my xbox 360. Check out the forum and see what you think.

sounds promising but personally I would not pay to play mugen i am happy with the pc version and the xbox version right now.
dont get me wrong...I would love to play mugen on my 360 in a heartbeat

I just wish someone could update xmugen with the latest mugen so i wouldn't have to keep pressing the blasted F1 crap
