I have this same problem, and just like him it also works with everything on E.  However E is way to small for chars and stuff obviously.  I posted about this problem a few months ago, and just came back around the communtiy today to see if any of the new stuff would work, but I still have the same old problem. I am running on a softmod box btw.

for me i get a thing that says ^C then when it says finish then i type that in and it says file not found?? any ideas guys??

Just a link to generate some interest in Xmugen:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OxW4xNPKQ-U&eurl=

I can't believe this hasn't picked up in popularity yet. Maybe because of the difficulty involved with getting it running? Personaly I've seen that Xmugen works best if you limit F to 137GB and rest on G for big hard drives. If you have a 500GB and split F/G to 245+245 Xmugen won't load. I've seen it on 4 500GB so far.

Just had a problem with Xmugen loading on a 120GB - same behavior of the 500GBs that I had troubles with. All I did was clear X,Y,Z cache with Slayers and all is well! Hopefully this will work with those 500GB hdds - I guess it's time to make some phone calls  tongue.gif

It's not just 500GB HDDs. There's some hard disk drives that work and some that don't work all of different sizes and brands. I have a rare opportunity to test Xmugen on at least 10 xboxes a week. I'll post my findings and start an HDD compatiblity database. I've seen it work/notwork on softmods/tsops/modchips. Only bioses I use are X25035, M8plus, and newest Krayzie.

I see that you are posting quite a bit.  Are you aware of the site here? : http://xmugen.nugnugnug.com/ ? I have been playing xmugen since 05/06.  I simply love it.  I upgraded the hd on my softmodded xbox just for Xmugen.  I have yet to have any experience with the 500gb boxes and Xmugen.  I will tell you this it can be a finicky prog due to the caching of a swap file of either 512-712 on x i believe or 1gb-2gb on the e or f drives.  Sometimes you do have to clear cache to make space.  Sometimes ur not booting maynot even be a cache issue.  Some xboxes seem to like it in a folder called Games others in a folder called Emulators. If you are going through quite a bit of xbox mugen modding it I recommend with all due respect against sloppy sloppy.  It can drive you quite batty lol. Oh I almost forgot to mention another thing yo may notice is that on 1.6 xbox's the screen is slightly zoomed in.  So ver 1.0 is ideal for mugen play. I reread some of your posts and to be honest I doubt that Xmugen is incompatible with any particular brand/version xbox(i have seen it on quite a few variations at this point I can't imagine that the brand/hd makes a difference) I feel that this is more of a format/directory issue.  You may want to tinker with the setup i have uploaded here (it is for large hd's) and see how the xbox's like it: http://www.sendspace.com/file/kfb3b8 (note I have since updated this quite a bit and even have the new cfem pack booting as will stay tuned for an update to this pack.) Nwayz hope this input helps ya!  Now do me a favor and write a newb friendly tutorial to how to burn the iso to dvd.  I know this can be done.  I have no interest in one.  Just for my small hd softmod friends. Ciao!

And yes I mirror your opinion I cannot believe it is not more popular. I am trying my best in my area in ny to change that.  But it appears to be because of the difficulty involved/lack of awareness...

yeah im also trying to get mugen to become real popular around my area so far i have gotten a few friends to catch an interest on this, but im amazed how many people pass something this awesome without being aware.
i myself am trying to open a forum where people can trade characters that are no longer available.
and also i dont mind sharing my characters which i have tried to optimize for xmugen (i did it by extracting their snd files, doing batch editing of their sound files, and remounting their snd files to make them smaller and make them easier on the xbox's low 64 mb of ram. Also ive used utilities that help clean the sff files off them and they work great. im trying very hard to setup a small comunity where people can share m.u.g.e.n characters which are no longer found, or just share their m.u.g.e.n (windows or xbox) experience in general
ive setup a small thread in a forum i made for this here

My small forum for M.U.G.E.N
maybe if i can get some members we can make a database of which characters run good on xmugen, etc

if anyone needs help drop a message or feel free to start a mugen related thread there.
and also if you guys need to setup m.u.g.e.n for the first time visit the http://xmugen.nugnugnug.com/ site
Their site is the best, its awesome and very informative

peace

It also won't work if you have widescreen enabled. Too late I've already gone nutz  laugh.gif Yeah I've done one load and was being lazy so I found an MFJ premade for PC and just converted it to Xbox without any testing. So far only 2 stages and Cloud crashes Xmugen. It's a 3.9GB load with a lot of characters I'm not even using yet. I just dumped a bunch in there for teh different screenpacks I wanna eventually integrate.

Thanks! What distro are you using on that? Whats cfem? I'd like to know how to get it to boot from DVD too. I'm going to burn it and see what happens. My biggest wish for Xmugen is X-Arcade/Quasicon support.

General reaction from people in my waiting room are amazement, disbelief, and laughter  biggrin.gif .I was just at a local tilt arcade last night and was exchanging tickets when I saw a small crowd of the employees and some customers with a laptop and two controllers playing a game. I went to look at the commotion and it was sure enough it was MUGEN

I think Xmugen kicks pc mugens but just cause of ease of use /portability.  Pc mugen wins in terms of performance and load time. But that bout it.  Ps2 controller is nice too.  CFEM is the new Capcom Fighting evolution screen pack.  It is nice.  If you can get a setup to burn to dvd please write me a friendly tutorial all i ask.  Nice to hear some intelligent discussion on Mugen.  Nug nug is getting silly.  I dont post much there anymore because of this.  Nice to know I am not the only one driven batty by XMugen.  But now that I am in a flow shall we say I am no longer loosing this battle with my sanity. lol. I am using the same distor you are  I believe just a different setup.  It is the one AMOC came up with. I like it very very much.  but to each his own.

btw I have been watching robo chicken quite a bit and i think it rocks!!

seanp2500 first off thanks for this compilation.  It rocks.  The only question I have for you is where is the CFEM screenpack that you mentioned.  I could not find it.  Could you tell me where to find it or is it hidden somewhere in the screenpack menu screen.  Thanks for your time and effort.

lmao.  You are one of the few people who has thanked me for it (I think the third)  so it is much appreciated.  Side note thank AMOC as well!! He is active on these forums and was the one who released the loader I am using.  I think it is quite snazzy.  Alot of work went into that file on my end though.  Alas it is not without problems.  The pack you have downloaded does not actually include cfem.  I discovered how to port that later.  I plan on uploading a new pack with some bug fixes/new work (kurumin has a real cool game ending screen that was broken, I also gave kurumin a guilty gear them it rocks!...) and cfem hopefully tomorrow. I will keep ya posted...

Oh and do check out my roster vid/xbox mugen demo quality kinda sux cause i was using a digi cam with vid capabilites my girl had.  I had to compress the original avi file from a gig to like 55mb lol

just a quick question guys

i ran the xbox version of mugen (xmugen) on my pc( which is running the freespire linux distro) when i ran it on my linux set up  through the pc console it says
M.U.G.E.N test ver 2001.11.14
i downloaded a version of mugen for linux and the last one that elecbyte made seems to have been made on 2002.04.14

is there any reason for xmugen not using this "newer version" of linmugen?
please forgive me if im missing something as im barely learning on linux
or if there is a special reason in particular

this didnt work for me... maybe I'm doing something wrong? Or should I try to look for 4.5 instead of 4? My xbox just hangs on the boot menu, I try direct boot and nothing happens, same with choosing any of the screenpacks
