Once again that is not an "error", that is showing that linux is running perfectly fine as it has booted all of the correct drivers and joy2key is running.  If you are seeing that, then that means that your Xmugen has crashed.  This can be caused by a cApItAlIzEd screenpack when it shouldn't be, a character problem etc.  It all depends on when it craps out to that.  I'm assuming that its an issue with your screenpack, most likely you're using my ultimate pack and haven't renamed the /mugen/data/Custom folder to /mugen/data/custom .

Argh I've looked and searched the entire net and i can't find an answer to this problem!

BG music won't play... at all... no matter what the file type

I've defined the song location in the mao def file as instructed, but the songs don't play...
Any ideas why?

I get past this, and the Linux thing begins to load.  I am loading XMugen off of the HDD, and select FatX at the Gentoox screen.  Linux says:

(Forgive the typoes, I had to swap to composite cables to make it work and the res is difficult to read)

Adding Swap: 52420OK Swap Space (Priority -1)
bdah: Bad Access Block = 0, Count = 1
end request: I/O Error, dev 03:38 (hda), sector 0
Mount: Mounting /dev/hda56 on /cdrom failed: Invalid Argument
umount: /cdrom Invalid Argument
Mount: /dev/hda is write protected.  Mount Read-Only
cdrom: open failed
mount: mounting /dev/hdb on /cdrom failed: No Medium
Kernel Panic: Attempted to Kill Init!

At this point the green light on the xbox blinks and it hangs forever.  Any ideas?

I have a regular xbox, 64mb ram, etc.  1 S-Type controller plugged in, nothing fancy.

I guess We're on our own with this one then  sad.gif

everything else works fine in the game, sound effects work great.

But the background music just won't!

I've tried all kinds of file types, wav, mp3 mid, and still non of them load!!

No matter what map I add the sound to it still won't work!
even if I over ride it with a song in the select.def file they still don't load!

Maybe snd files will work with background music... if anyone else knows anything for the love of god please help out!

I fixed it!

what I had to do, was to give each and every stage I have in my MUGEN background music,
I think all the empty bgmusic tags were causing an error or something.

Anyway make sure that your mp3's/wavs are below 48khz stero otherwise they may not play.

Yes having mugen's stage files point to a non existing or blank music file will cause the stage to make Mugen crash.  So either have it point to a real .mp3 or leave the line blank.

Also, the other night I was adding music to some backgrounds.
I came accross 2 different mp3 songs that would not play.
I checked out the mp3s and neither of them said they were protected, but after I worked some magic with Goldwave (copy, open new, paste, save as) I got them running.
Other people have mentioned having this problem so if you can't get a particular song to load, it might just because of it.

Hhmm, regarding guybird's mugen pack. Is it normal for the program to take arpund 1 minute to load everything? I already removed like 200 characters from the pack and a couple of stages which seem to always crash the program, but it still takes that long to load. Also, I was wondering if it was possible to edit the character select screen so that if you pressed down, the cursor would bring you to the first slot of the next line. Normally, if there was a blank character slot under you, you wouldn't be able to press down. I would like the cursor to always move to the first character of the next line if you pressed down.

Lol, I hope that was explained right. Its because there's this nice screenpack I saw which needs a little tweak like that to work properly. http://www.mugenjet.achoo.jp/

Lol, did you even read the faq by guybird? It's right there, all the links you need (its only for xmugen v3. There's already a version 4 of xmugen, though I'm not sure of the changes). Also, as vampx said in the other forum, this isn't an emulator. It's a stripped down linux distro specifically for running Mugen. This also made me wonder what this FAQ is doing here in the emulator forum. Oh well, whatever reasons they have, at least it helped me a lot (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

MF29, you're not allowed to ask for dirrect links to things not in the main pages tools/software sections. If it's not hosted on X-S it doesn't abide their set rules. Asking for them in the forums can result in a ban.

Other forums and IRC channels do not have to play by X-S's rules. You might want to try and ask there.

I had this problem. I had all the files placed in their correct location as per the readme, and I had opted to put the actual mugen directory in F/GAMES. But apparently it won't work like that, after I moved the actual mugen directory to E/mugen, it worked fine.

Now I have to figure out how to put the Mugen stuff on the F drive. (E's too small!) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/uhh.gif)

Reread the tutorial of this thread. You just have to put the mugen folder in F:/ BUT you have to have a couple files in E:/mugen and a couple in E:/ too.
