i don't see any error on your photo. the /dev/js1 correspond to the 2nd joystick, so it's normal that it complain that it doesn't exist since you plug only one.

try this mugen and put it into your mugen directory:
http://rapidshare.de...1745/mugen.html

if not, edit the launch and try to put bigger value after each sleep.

i don't know if it will solve your problem, it's only things to try...

Hey i have two questions i accidently altered the buttons config in the mugen menu and cant seem to get it back to default. I dont know how to hit the f3 key for default buttons. Doed mugen have a game save anywhere i can delete to start over? I have a logitec wireless controller only. I tried to delete everthing and re install but it still has the altered buttons. I also set up the linuxboot.cfg for 720p for my hdtv but i only get a small 4:3 screen in the center of my tv i cant figure out hot to stretch it out to fill my 16:9 screen? Thanks for any info.

The controller config is saved in mugen.cfg.  All you would have to do to fix this would be to upload an unmodified mugen.cfg back onto your xbox.  I can't help you with the 720p issue, as when I boot it, the video is all scrambled, so just stick with 480p.

Ok i got it working i had to move the idrloop file to the /E/KNOPPIX/ folder but i still have the small screen about 1/6th of my normal tv screen. So ill stick with the 480p but i have one question about the controller it is now like you set it X=LP, Y=HP,A=LK, B=HK white=MK and black=MP. What do i need to do to make white MP and black MK thanks.

If you have x-mugen installed on your xbox hard drive, then you should also see a picture of a joystick and the words "FAT-X" below it.  If you see this, choose this option and x-mugen should load.

I get past this, and the Linux thing begins to load.  I am loading XMugen off of the HDD, and select FatX at the Gentoox screen.  Linux says:

(Forgive the typoes, I had to swap to composite cables to make it work and the res is difficult to read)

Adding Swap: 52420OK Swap Space (Priority -1)
bdah: Bad Access Block = 0, Count = 1
end request: I/O Error, dev 03:38 (hda), sector 0
Mount: Mounting /dev/hda56 on /cdrom failed: Invalid Argument
umount: /cdrom Invalid Argument
Mount: /dev/hda is write protected.  Mount Read-Only
cdrom: open failed
mount: mounting /dev/hdb on /cdrom failed: No Medium
Kernel Panic: Attempted to Kill Init!

At this point the green light on the xbox blinks and it hangs forever.  Any ideas?

I have a regular xbox, 64mb ram, etc.  1 S-Type controller plugged in, nothing fancy.

I noticed the references to /cdrom which seemed odd.  Can you tell me which version of Xmugen you are using (ie version .4?)  I haven't yet used the version that doesn't include the swap file.

I can't get it to boot from the DVD, i layout the files as the FAQ say, and the Gentoox loader gives me this error:
Cannot load from disc, insert a correct boot disc and close the tray

Is there a setting that accomodates the 480i setting? I have a Component TV, but 480i's the best it can do, and the GentooX loader doesn't seem to like this "in-between" thing.

I believe i'm also having this exact problem, though i'm none too sure. I don't have an HD TV, but it does support component hookups as that's what i've got hooked up. The loader comes up with a wobbly screen and such and I can't read a darn thing. sad.gif Any help on how to fix this would be me thanking from the bottom of my heart. and it's a deep heart.

In the Xmugen thread, with Alg's help r1sky got it to working on dvd and made a How to thread on Xmugen spot.  I'll have to copy the info into my FAQ as well.  I had originally just posted what Alg said would work in my FAQ; I never tried it myself as I run everything off my hard drive.
