The Official Xmugen FAQ Thread

I know what you mean, just wanted to start a discussion about it to see if it was something we could look for in the future. Right now I wouldn't bother with it as it is a work in progress. But in the future (especially if xna for xbox becomes cheaper or free) it would be a viable option. As it would be a better mugen version then winmugen. We probably wouldn't have as many problems with characters because of the movereversed trigger as linmugen (xmugen) doesn't support it. Right now we have to change movereversed to movehit to get characters to run. But since this xnamugen is open source and will constantly be improved it has the potential to be better then winmugen and xmugen. If we can run this on the 360 it would be a win to run this off the harddrive with a powerful system.

As far as xmugen goes right now even though I haven't tested, but it I hear alot of good things about kakuto's setup with the 2GB and 3GB swap file. Not to mention it also uses a newer build of linmugen (currently all other setups use the old linmugen) this means all characters that use the movereversed trigger should work without changing them to movehit.

I think Kakuto's setup is best for those looking for a more stable build, and with the big swap files things will load quicker and you should be able to use bigger file size characters with less lag.

ok I upgraded the mugen version from the 2001 version to the beta  2002.14.04 version in the slim xmugen
if anyone is still using the slim xmugen and at the bottom left corner it says beta 2001 go here download the xmugen setup
which is the beta 2002.14.04 version

when you have downloaded it unrar it and look in the main xmugen folder for a file named mugen its a 4mb file
transfer that file over to your slim xmugen folder and  either name the old mugen file to mugen.bak so you can go back to that version of mugen or just overwrite the old mugen file with the new one

when done boot up a screenpack and see if it says beta 2002.14.04 you still have to press F1 which still sucks but hey at least its better than the 2001 version  (IMG:
style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

this version I linked to is basically r1sky's F/games version but with the beta 2002.14.04 Linux mugen

warning...it will make the AI more defensefull than aggressive

THIS IS HOW IT WAS CONFIRMED TO  USE  2 GIG SWAP (EVEN) GIG.  WHICH CAN BE ADAPTED TO 4 OR 6 OR MORE GIG SWAP

USING THIS POST.

if you take the 3 gig swapfile (from where kakuto posted) and name it bigcheese, put it in your swapfile folder, when you first run the 5mb mugen it will turn that one into 1 blank swapfile, and create its own "SIGNED" swapfile.  IF LEFT LIKE THIS mugen will refuse to boot a match in mugen. the 5mb mugen can identify the 2nd gig but can't use it due to it being improper. so it can use more then 1gig but can't create more then 1gig due to signature or engine limitation.

(cough authentic check)

instead let it create a 1gig "r1skyswap" file, the first time you run the 5mb mugen.  now add the file i have here called "samuel" (it should be about 1gig when extracted), now take the "r1skyswap", renamed to "psalm" and the "samuel" file, and put them in the same folder and run the launch.bat file. the new file will be called "r1skyswap", and put it back in your swapfile folder, enjoy the 5mb mugen. if u want larger modify the recover.bat file, use a notepad program.

project angel scar: so the current theory is to induce errors in the op sys of the guidance system, so as it course recovers, it can out think a incoming threat.  so anyway i was think this is kinda short because the last 9months have not been good with the workload, i know the physical limitation of g-loads, why continue to over program in site of those inherent restrictions.  so anyway i replied usual, the failed results turn them into mugen characters the usual way, get cj's new doll, there making more progress with error inductions, who cares. g-load is the boss here not you LOL.anyway ENJOY, bon't beleve everything you read on the internet, (ah may take 2minute to 4 longer to load in extreme cases due to signature check pass timeout, force pass?, on larger swap)

also i belive the F1 SCREEN could be disable near this location if you search for "@KBToUInp" in hex, not that i tried anythint outthe links to the file below contains what u need also the 5mb mugen file you need with 1 small change (beta message cleanup, u can vertify if you want what was changed i didn't damage anything-).

Am looking forward to this new MK mugen also i have scraped the bloody launch files as i cant get them to work at all i always get that bloody error entering mode v2 or something like that so edited up unleashx and made batch scripts to change screenpacks also its a lot cleaner and easier.

if any ones wants the config file just ask will put it up.

Also i have noticed that when i play the game in 480p or 720p the screen is incorrect its off to the left is there any way to fix this as i cant play it in SD mods as it doesn't work with the component cable only RGB or composite.

I do not know if anyone is interested in this or this has been discussed before rocky5 got me to thinking about making shortcut files in xbmc since unleashx is able to load the xmugen screenpacks via batch scripts
and xbmc is able to launch r1skys xmugen setup via a .cut file

so...I just tried it out using slim xmugen and xbmc .cut file
I have mortal Kombat project 4.1 set to launch from mugenpak9
so..

<shortcut>
   <path>f:\Emulators\xmugen\menu\mugenpak.xbe</path>
   <label>Mortal Kombat Project</label>
   <thumb>E:\Images\Mortal Kombat Project.png</thumb>
      <custom>
         <game>F:\</game>
      </custom>
</shortcut>

so to see if a second screenpack would boot via a .cut file I tried again this time with dc vs marvel screenpack set to mugenpak8.xbe

<shortcut>
   <path>F:\Emulators\XMugen\menu\mugenpak8.xbe</path>
   <label>DC vs. Marvel</label>
   <thumb>E:\Images\DC vs Marvel.png</thumb>
      <custom>
         <game>F:\</game>
      </custom>
</shortcut>

and SUPRISE they both boot up from xbmc!!!

I thought I would just post my findings on this if anyone is interested I got tired of having to boot unleashx and then selecting a screenpack from there since xbmc is my main dash  biggrin.gif

nice one i get what you mean as XBMC is my main dash to but i have scraped the launch files as i couldn't add screenpacks i kept getting that damn error so i resorted to unleashx as this can do it easy.

Iam going to make a new skin for this with 2 big preview windows for videos and images and if you want my profile for Windows Media Encoder to converting to wmv v8 so you can then convert to xmv then just ask.

Here is an image note this skin is temp.

nice skin I like it except for the temp thing
will this config file  work with R1skys setup since It runs faster and smoother?

have you tried making a menulaunch file in the xmugen renamer app
I used to get that same error when i just edited a menulaunch file in the menu folder of xmugen
so I create a new menulaunch file in xmugen renamer

Thanks for the config.xml

Hopefully someone will figure out how to do the same thing in the unleashx config.xml you posted here to make xmugen do the same thing in xbmc I allready spent a hr creating wide icons for my xmugen screenpacks and would love to be able boot them via diff mugen.cfg in r1sky's setup through xbmc that would be so freakin sweet (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

After reading up about xna built games, and the homebrew being made whether it's emulators or community based games it should be possible to run it on the 360. Since xnamugen is built with xna we should be able to port to the 360 ourselves. When I get extra money available I am going to fix my xbox 1, and get a graphics card that is compatible with xna. After that I will test it out, and see what this xnamugen can do and make sure you can port it over to the 360.

To make sure you know what I am talking about this is a mugen clone built with xna for the PC, that should port to 360.
QUOTE
xnaMugen is an clone of the MUGEN Fighting Game Engine. The makers of this game, Elecbyte have disappeared from the internet their game hasn't been updated in years. So, as a challenge to myself, I attempted to emulate the engine. While I'm not done yet, it's good enough to play.

Please try out my engine and leave feedback on how well it works.

As the game is built using XNA, you will need to download the framework from Microsoft. A link to the framework is on the xnaMugen page and at the bottom of this post.

Here is where to get the newest xnamugen.
http://www.codeplex.com/xnamugen

How to compile xnamugen
QUOTE
How To Create a Development Environment For Compiling xnaMugen

Operating System Required:
Windows XP
Windows Vista
Windows 7 Beta

Install Visual Studio 2008 Express for C#: http://www.microsoft.com/express/download/
*Note* If you already have a better version of Visual Studio installed, you do not have to install Visual Studio 2008 Express.

Install Microsoft XNA Game Studio 3.0: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en

Update DirectX to 9.0c (November): http://download.microsoft.com/download/1/7.../dxwebsetup.exe

Download the latest source code for xnaMugen: http://www.codeplex.com/xnamugen/SourceCon...bleCommits.aspx

Extract the source into it's own directory. Example: C:\Code\xnaMugen\

Open the file 'xnaMugen.sln' in the code directory. It will open in Visual Studio 2008 Express. In Visual Studio, open the 'Build' menu and click on 'Configuration Manager'. Set the 'Active Solution Configuration' to either 'Debug', 'Release' or 'Release - Diagnostic'. Click close. Open the 'Build' menu and click on 'Build Solution'. This will build xnaMugen from source.

The program file 'xnaMugen.exe' will be in the '\xnaMugen\bin\' directory. Move this file into your MUGEN directory with 'xnaMugen.ini'. You should how be able to run xnaMugen.

Again since this project is open source and will constantly be updated it has the potential to be better then winmugen ever was. Stay tuned to this project it looks like this will be mugen of the future.

someone PLZ post a url for help

1. when loading that character does it go to a error screen or just freeze up?
2. did you run xmugen renamer on that certain character to make it all lower case?
3. have you tested that character in winmugen to see if it gives you a error?
4. is it a hi-res character if so if running on slim mugen that version I believe has problems with hi-res characters
5.have you tried more that one character on your xmugen setup if so does only this one character freeze up?

there is no way to reboot back to unleashx when in xmugen all it will give you is a error screen since Xmugen does not have a IGR (in game reset)

If any files are not in lower case in a character folder xmugen will spit out a error upon loading that character
make sure to run xmugen renamer on all your characters
