Thanks for the help Problem Child, you're like the most knowledgeable person on the internet when it comes to xmugen. I got the BrokenMugen setup too of yours, and it is frickin awesome. I tried getting the BrokenMugen screenpack to work on another version of xmugen before and could never do it so this is awesome. And yeah, if you could fix the CVS2 screenpack whenever you get some spare time that would be sweet. No need to hurry though, you provided plenty of stuff to mess around with for the next couple of months. Thanks again man, I appreciate it.

Oh yeah, quick question. Does anyone know if you can give stages random music instead of having to pick a song for them? I know you can't give characters random stages, so you probably can't do it with music either, but it's still worth asking. Thanks guys, take it easy.

PC, could you help me out. I downloaded the 11 xmugen files and unrared them together and the sencond file said it was broken/corrupt. So Iam  re-downloading it as we speak to see if it was an error on my part. None the less I still got your xmugen setup(incomplete ofcoarse since it didnt unrar properly)and I tried to ftp it over to see if it would work regardless and It wouldn't let me ftp (Im guessing do to fat-! or 42 characters)....so my ? is did anyone else get the xmugen corrupt file & if not were you able to ftp it over & play it...what am I doing wrong.

ok so I downloaded it again and still broken
Xmugen part02
CRC failed in XMugen/chars/broken/demonictetsu/tetsu.snd.The file is corrupt

Im guessing there was a mistake while uploadin a character-So can you reupload the file again and let us know when you do thanks or do you think it would still run without that...

Damn, I was hoping something like this wouldn't happen. Reason being is I have dial up and had to use someone else's computer to upload this. I will tell you what it looks like the problem is just one character's sound file. FTP it over and if it works I will upload the problem character instead of the whole setup if not I will try to upload everything over.

What's up guys? Got a quick question that's been bugging the crap out of me if that's cool? Is there some way to fix characters that make xmugen crash? I know that dos2win works occasionally, and also fixing the movereversed thing sometimes, but is there any other way if those don't work? Could you maybe use some of the files from another version of the same character that do work on xmugen, to make the other one work? For instance, I found a new version of Colossus that has all the same moves as another one I have, and you do them all the same way, the new one just is faster and combos a lot better, so I'd rather use that one. Sorry if that's a dumb question, I'm just desperate because I have a lot of characters like that. Thanks for any help you guys can offer, I appreciate it. Take it easy.

Any chance someone who has it all working can release a single zip file that I can extract and drop into my games or emulator folder?

There are so many file revisions and separate links that I've become lost.

Can someone please ZIP and up their xmugen folder complete with MKP already configured?
(if you can't upload it I can give you upload access to my FTP server, just PM me, and I'll see that it gets hosted)

Thanks

I wouldn't switch files from characters because people change things in the files when they do updates for their characters. And if the character is made by a different person they could have entirely different coding. What's wrong with the character you are trying to get to work, a crash at select or what?

Yeah I figured it wouldn't be a good idea to switch files, I just thought I'd ask anyways though. And yeah, they crash at the versus screen just like a lot of other amazing characters, it makes me angry. Some of them did work though. I did make backups of the characters and tried switching some files around anyways, just to see. They were all made by the same author and all have the same files setup, even a little sample picture. So I took an mvc2_sabretooth.cns which was from a working character, and replaced an mvc2_blackheart.cns with it in the blackheart that didn't work, and it made him work. Crappy thing is that it seems like he's missing some sprites now, and all the effects look like puke literally, and he fights weird now. I'm sure it's obviously because that file wasn't meant for him like you said, even though it kind of made him work, which is weird. My guess why the characters don't work though, after all that rambling...one single move in one of their cns files that xmugen doesn't agree with or something, and I think it's a special. Of course, I've never made a character so I don't really know for sure. Man, it just really makes me mad, I can't say that enough. Those characters rocked.

Hey Problem Child, I'm trying to reverse engineer however you got your screenpacks to work on the AMOC setup, and I got quick question for you. How did you generate the files in the XMUGEN Files folder in all the screenpacks or at least the rar files in them? I'm trying to fix the SNK screenpack and also add a Marvel vs Capcom 3 and a DBZ screenpack. I'm not gonna lie though, it's tricky and I need your help if that's possible. Thanks and take it easy.

Can I ask you guys a really stupid question? What if I have two different characters who have the same folder name, is it as simple as changing the name of one folder to something else or would more work (like changing the characters data info) be involved?

Just got a hold of a multi pack someone put together. It has broken Mugen on it and this works, but my question is that they have a timer countdown on the character selection screen. I looked but probably missed it, is there anyway to disable that timer?

And might as well ask again. Any possible way to shrink the character selection screen so nothing gets cut off on the tv? I hate scrolling through the character selection only to find quite a number of hidden rows cut off by my tv (tv overscan)

thank you for the reply. I will try the timer countdown method and see if it does nothing.

As for the tv overscan problem. Yes I did use the splinter cell exploit for my softmod, but you got me thinking. In unleash X for general options you can resize the entire screen for everything. If I shrink it down a little more and have a small border on all sides, this might fix mugen. Hmm will try that in the next few minutes....

since mugenx info seems to be scattered and sometimes conflicting. If someone made some screenpacks you can select but with no characters, does Mugen allow you to point the select.def to another directory where you do have characters? This way I techincally would not have to setup and copy characters for every screen pack I would like to use them in, instead just having it point to one main location

UPDATE:

1. you're right, the timer does nothing

2. changing the screen size in unleash x does not work, however messing with the Mugen.cfg file in mugen's main data folder does help to a degree... If you change this option under "video linux":

"Set this parameter to 0 to disable screen stretching, and set it to 1 if
;you want to scale it up to fit the current resolution.
Stretch = (change this to 0)

you do get everything, however in a way too small square in the center of your screen. Does mugen support any video sizes larger than 640x480? If the "windowed option" would work (I never got this to work, anytime I changed it from full screen to windowed, Xmugen crashes) then this would solve my (and I am sure others) problems.

besides re-installing a soft mod (which I do not want to do) is there anything I can do at this point to not have mugen stretched to full screen, but at least making the game screen itself bigger (I am fine with a border around it)?

Thanks again for the info. I just have to make some character select.def files to get those screenpacks running. Yes it turns out that I did get the broken mugen pack from problem child (though he had a slightly updated one off another site)

I still think there must be more settings or perhaps it is where everything is positioned (x,y) on the screen? I am pretty sure if I did mess around with the x and Y axis, I can bring things in closer. Another xbox made one (called xmugen extreme final) did not have as drastic screen cutting as broken has. Still more fun items to play around with

Correct me if I am wrong, but in order to use slayers evox disc to begin with, don't you already have to have your box modded? I do have the slayers evox disc 2.6, s by remodding with the slayers you are saying that it would overwite the splinter cell mod with a newer one? Pretty much it wont format and erase everything that is already on my drives will it?

For those that downloaded the AMOC setup I wanted to know if you wanted me to upload characters the for my version of SF vs MK since I didn't put up a full game for that setup. If so I will upload the characters and stages for that full game. I also put Eyedol from KI arcade game as the final boss for that one it's pretty cool. I made minor edits to some MK characters because they were too big compared to some SF characters and tried to balance attacks so they wouldn't have an unfair advantage. Real easy to do you can edit their cns file and change xscale and yscale from 1 to .9 . Or what ever you feel should be the right size. Their attack and defense are in the same cns file and you can adjust that so they don't ake off too much. if you already have the characters and want to do it yourself.

Here's a vid of the final boss Eyedol (fighting Shao Kahn in this vid)

I changed this intro screen because I didn't really like the original one(It just had the face of Reptile from the movie and I didn't like the block letters they used for the SF vs MK so I used the real symbols) I also changed the intro music.

I also changed the lifebars to these (I like these better)

Here are some more vids

Liu Kang vs Gouki

Sawada vs Jax

M. Bison vs Raiden

I can also upload character packs so that you can start other screenpacks that you would want to fill up.
