complete stab in the dark but I had problems with different games by changing the virtual mem, shouldnt affect the rom check but u never know.....

try deleting your mame save and try it again

Prican24 is right.  

I seriously doubt you'll find anyone in here who could tell you why that happened.  Delete all of your MAME files and start from scratch and it will work again.

Better yet, get a copy of MAMEdox Arcades and ditch the MAMEox alltogether.  You'll be happy you did.  I for one think it's nice to be able to turn your gun in Forgotten Worlds and Ikari Warriors for a change.
