I didn't get to try this yet, but I wanted to know if the esc button was mapped onto the joystick?
You need to press esc to back out of menus on mugen and quit modes like training.

Can someone tell me if I got this setup right and its just an error or am I forgeting something.
Im trying to get some screenpacks working other than the basic KFM demo. So I went into Mugen.cfg, changed the location of data/system.def to the location of the new screenpack (In my case data/MvC2/system.def) After I make the changes and boot Gentoox up, I get an error after I have to push "Y" to continue that basically ask if I have mapped out my joystick.
If I go back and change the mugen.cfg file to go look in the data folder only again, it loads fine.
Any adivce or tut's on how to load up new packs and such.

Awesome work! Smart move to strim and use linux in that way!

Few things, i had the 2 pad problem too... resolved by not touching the first pad, using the second pad instead tongue.gif.

Sometimes, pressing certain buttons in-game leads me to the same console screen that appears when you not choose yes in the beginning, but i have not been able to reproduce it because i am busy playing the damn game  biggrin.gif. And now i'm at work.

Esc is missing, as someone said. Coud be mapped to select?

Definitively one of the best homebrew in a long time...

awesome idea, first the tutorial to run epsxe thru linux and now this.

It's surprising nobody thought of this before, so many emus would have been easier to port this way than doing it the old xbox-native way.

with a stripped down linux, the overhead is really minimal.

Now as a suggestion to anyone willing (i totally admit my linux skills are very limited, or i'd jump on it), someone should do a compilation of all the best linux games AND emus, all bootable from the same default.xbe, and leading to a simple menu (dash-like) to select what you want to boot. you could even add pre-configured non-free games, with the user just having to add the game files.

Like the author said, the main problem preventing regular people from doing this is all the work involved in stripping down linux from the gui and everything, wich might seem trivial to a power user, but not to all those of us wich grew up on windows and have no intention of using linux as a regular desktop OS.

Also translating the native keyboard/mouse games to be played on a xbox gamepad also do involves alot of work, but it only has to be done once and then shared with the community.

Maybe this should be a community project? Have a few people working on setting up the most stripped down version of linux possible with an easy to use by everyone menu, then have anyone contribute there configurations for emulators/games, and release the compilation once every few weeks.

anyways just throwing around ideas here, since the actual porting to xbox native has slowed down alot, this is our "last frontier" for expanding the possibilities offered with a modded xbox.

What he said. Can somebody release a full mugen pack with a bunch of characters and stages all ready with
no need to do editing?

I was so excited by this that after some testing (how long depends on how good it works, this might be an all night thing, lol) I was already planning on making a torrent of all the characters/stages/etc that I have and make a torrent.  The only thing stopping me from doing this is that most MUGEN character authors will freely let you download the char from their site, BUT not from another, or from a link.  In other words, I don't know if they'd like the idea of all of their work being tossed into a big pack.  If some one can convince me otherwise (that they won't care/I shouldn't care what they think) I'd make a torrent from what I have.  As it stands I have around 300+ characters including every char that I can find from the following games: SF2, SF3, SFA1-3, CVS1-2, SVC, GG, LB, KI, MK, etc etc.

What's that supposed to mean? I hate noobs as much as the next guy, but that wasn't cool.
I certainly doubt that "guybird" speaks spanish... I mean, there are thousands of native english speakers grammatically impaired, just log on WOW or ICQ.

EDIT: Thanks.

hahah i think i only have like 20 posts on this site and a few of them regarded mugen ports a long time ago!
i doubt the authors would care, you could make a html file with links to all their respective sites and i'm sure they would be happy with that seeing its opening up their work to a whole new audience.
